+---DEATH TO ALL FILTHY HUMANS---+

Review:-

Neftaraka are a black metal band hailing from, of all places, Malaysia. I never knew any bands that came from there so after doing a little research I was quite surprised that there is a decent amount of Malaysian extreme metal bands. If they all are as good as Neftaraka, I will definitely be exploring that countries list of artists. Neftaraka is a black metal trio that formed in 1996 and they have a decent sound that I enjoyed listening to. The band has only released demos and splits and will be releasing this EP, "Raw Ist Law" on the Malaysian label Kvlt 666 Productions sometime in March.

Neftaraka cites old Darkthrone, Von & Profanatica as being heavy influences on them and when listening to them you can definitely hear it. The band is fronted by Xxxull's raw and harsh vocal delivery, that almost sound like he's whispering at times, and his guitar playing. Xxxull unleashes a flurry of tremolo-picked guitar riffs with some actually decent solos played here and there, something that is missing in a lot of black metal. Behind him is the bassist Silblyss and drummer Unknown H and the easiest of the two to hear is Unknown H's blast beats and while blast beats are extremely common in black metal, that's what works most times and it does here as well. You have to listen a little closer though to hear Silblyss's bass playing but it's definitely there and not bad at all. There's even a good bit of dark atmosphere on the album with some howling wind and the like and it actually adds to it instead of making it sound cheesy. The entire band sounds great together and I will be looking forward to the time when "Raw Ist Law" is released later this year. Fans of black metal ala Darkthrone should definitely enjoy checking this album out.

NEFTARAKA "Raw Ist Law" (kvlt666 produktion)
Fukk, this is true 'Black Metal Hutan'. This is Malaysian Forest Black Metal. Heart and soul. Minimalist raw black Metal stripped bare into its hideous charm. I dare not adding much, for this is just what it aims to be. References of early Darkthrone and the likes are just mere references, Neftaraka is more than able to hold unto its own. The production is just right for their hymns, a fact I very much applaud since that I'm from the 'raw doesn't mean shit-sounding turds' Front. Embrace the charm of our own deep, damp, hideous forest. Its prowess are endless. Just let Neftaraka shows you a glimpse or two. Don't ever come out of there Neftaraka, we need more of these. Damn you.
