BANE (Serbia) "The Acausal Fire" DIGI CD review by DOA Magazine

Image

By David Horn

A watershed moment in the history of Black Metal, The Acausal Fire begins with the obligatory symphonic intro, “Bringing Forth the Endless Dark Aeo”, and immediately blasts into the metallic inferno that is “The End of Humanity”, captivating and entrancing the listener with an unholy barrage of Black Metal mayhem that seems summoned from the very pits of Hell. Each track on this masterwork of evil and destruction is carefully crafted yet seemingly played with reckless abandon, creating an atmosphere of controlled chaos that will have you bouncing off the fucking walls. The riffwork on tracks such as “In Endless Silence” and “Light of the Black Flame” is so infectious that at times it seems out of place with the howling vocal assault and punishing drumwork and other Black Metal trappings but somehow it all works together like guts of a clock counting down the final moments of humanity. Killer digipack design from the mighty Abyss Records helps make this a “must-have” for fans of Black Metal Armageddon.

ERUPTED (Sweden) "In the Grip of Chaos" CD review by http://www.greekrebels.gr

Image

By Demosthenes baric

The Swedish death metal scene is one of the most extreme in the field of metal and generally Sweden is a country that has pulled many historic and remarkable bands such as At the gates, the Dismember, Entombed and the Bloodbath. So, given the opportunity at a new band made its appearance and continue the tradition of the birthplace of the death metal. From Vaxjo, Sweden, then the deathsters Erupted move the full length work entitled "In the grip of chaos". The band was formed in 2010, consisting of 3 members, known as Beyond hell. But after some mishaps and changes in their line up, the band members decided to make a new start by changing their name to Erupted and releasing their first job in 2011, a 3 track EP comes to the fore entitled "Faces of death ". The EP was released on 1 June 2011 and within 2 hours had been sold out! After this huge success, the band, after a time, he was ready to pull out their first full length. And so begins the whole thing. Reading the above information, I personally quite surprised, as we hear every day in our time to be sold out new releases. So thought I would hear something good enough, which happened as "In the grip of chaos" seemed a rather remarkable and very brutal phase that sent literally! From the very beginning shows the wilder the band, listening to the introduction of the first track "Salvation from below". Something like a warning followed by a chaotic screams of anguish as one of the most leading cues has heard thriller, "I am the devil ... and I am here to do the devils work "(Rob Zombie's The devil's reject) and understood the piece coming soon is exactly what the warning says to sample ... "What you are about to hear is really disturbing"! A horny, powerful groove-riff individuals directly into yob without manage to catch your breath, with the drums to follow faithfully the chaotic pace, the more bass is flooded and the road furiously brutal vocals that blow your brain, and a generally bulky as other production goes, it's just what I want to hear right now! So it seems that we are dealing with players who know how to do their job, watching the remaining pieces of the album, which did not stop a minute to bury you and keep in intensity, with rhythm guitars baritones and scattered leads to break the monotony (the note leads to bring in a very early phase Bloodbath), played by guitarists Tobias Petersson and Jonas Davidsson. The bass, although incredibly flooded the sound manages to distinguish filling very well with the sound cues and generally completing the package of the whole stage, accompanied by a drummer, who with his old school character in his playing manages to raise adrenaline at maximum! Great example of the above features are the songs "Path to perdition", "The dark mistress" and "Born of hate", which I personally believe that with the "Salvation from below", is the most groove-ata and more gamistera disc! Also be said that in this album include songs from his EP release of the band such as "Faces of death". Another thing I noticed on the art work on the album, which shows something like a tribal version one furious deity representing death and chaos. This perhaps has to do with the whole thing and themes of the band which ranges philosophical and occult themes (at least this band speculates). But since I have the opportunity to say my opinion, this album is good, but could be much better with better production and maybe a little more attention to the final mastering, and in some places lost synchronization between the guitar, which although not so tragic, but certainly spoiled little picture as to 'yes. Finally as it may, one is Positive phase the death metal listener might appreciate.

FETUS STENCH (Sweden) "Stillbirth" CD review by http://www.greekrebels.gr

Image

By Chris TSITSA

From Karlstad in Sweden come from three death metallers and with this debut puts a pawn in the global metal map. Classic, with a fairly technical approach without touching the brutal death. They sound quite aggressive and this helps a lot very good production that have clean, with proper volume on guitars, full low frequencies from the bass and drums to bomb the membrane woofer! 9 tracks are the first full album in total duration 38 minutes. Several of the species. And to get to the essence of the album tracks for me wanting more than two hearings to your stay even something in mind. Went very quickly several times a minute and did not notice that he changed his piece. They have quite the same climate between the tracks and do not contain something catchy so to speak to make your impression. To me at least. Well all blast-she did not say and his voice quite good for the species, and these solos have their status but essentially very small for my personal taste. Maybe because I'm used to the Swedes generally more melodic. To pay particular attention, however, the death-groups.

HUMANGLED (Italy) "Odd Ethics" CD EP review by http://www.beowolfproductions.com

Image

By beowolfproductions

HUMANGLED hails from Italy and plays extreme Death Metal music. These guys are not that well known, but they have been around since 1996. The band started out as a two piece band under the name PUTRID SEQUENCE. They had a rotating line up for years and put out a few demos. Once the line up was solidified they changed their name to HUMANGLED. These guys play an old school style of Death metal that is very raw, aggressive and straight forward. The music is done in an old European Death Metal style that was popular in the 90's. The sound is a bit rough sounding, but that is what I believe they wanted. I became a huge fan of Death metal in the late 80's & early 90's so I love bands like this. It takes me back to the demo days and when bands would trade demos with each other and had to write through snail mail, because there was no Internet yet. The vocals are done in a groggy Death Metal growl style. This is a must for fans of old DEATH, CARCASS, SINISTER, CANNIBAL CORPSE & ENTOMBED. These four tracks were not enough for me so I can't wait to hear what they put out next!

FETUS STENCH (Sweden) "Stillbirth" CD review by http://www.beowolfproductions.com

Image

By beowolfproductions

Hailing from Sweden comes a fury of intense raw Death Metal in the form of FETUS STENCH. These guys have only been around since 2011 and have been quickly carve their way through the underground Death Metal scene. These guys play a mixture of old school Death metal mixed with new school technical Death metal music. The music is done in a really killer mix of 90's Florida Death Metal and Swedish Death Metal. The late 80's & early 90's is when I got heavily into Death metal music and these two styles is what did it for me. These guys have brought back the brutality in Death metal that has been missing in a lot of newer Death Metal bands. The raw, fast, angry, pissed off sound of years past is brought back to life by FETUS STENCH. The vocals are done in a low ended Death growl / scream style. If you think back to bands like VOMITORY, GRAVE,
early MORBID ANGEL, early CANNIBAL CORPSE, SKINLESS & CARCASS then you'll have a close comparison to what these guys are offering. One of my favorite new Death Metal bands in recent years. I'm sure these guys will become huge in the underground if they keep putting out quality albums like "STILL BIRTH"!

ROCKING CORPSES (Finland) "Rock 'n' Rott" CD review by http://www.metalbite.com

Image

By JD

Some say that the best music is kept very simple, and that is a very true lesson indeed. Look at Motorhead. They are the undisputed Godfathers of Thrash, and they have kept their music simple and true to themselves while pummeling you with it throughout their career - and they kick ass even now. A very helpful lesson have Lords Motorhead has offered up and that only a selected few actually end up getting.

Finish scare rockers Rocking Corpses combine brilliantly a few simple, yet very identifiable musical genres into one blood stained entity. Old school Punk, NWOBHM era metal and even some grungier parts and splashes of Death Metal come together into what is RC’s. It is like a combination of The Misfits, GWAR, Motorhead and Saxon with shadings of 80's radio rock meeting early Death Metal. It seems to be confused at times - but that seems to be the fun that anchors the band.

Songs like the humourous Death Metal of 'Take A Whiskey' to the bloody ‘b’ movie inspired 'In The Dead Of The Night' show a band that is having a shit load of of fun while playing some decent music. They are not totally in the metal vain in my view, but they are still a whole lot of fun you can have without getting arrested.

They are not your typical Metallers or Punkers but Rocking Corpses are simply a group that has fun no matter what. I like the album, but do not love it. I do recommend this album though for depositing into their collection of any real rocker - Metalhead or not - to just have it to pull out and party to once in a while. With too many different styles in one, this band needs to continue on but perhaps focuses a little more without losing the fun factor.

SOUTHWICKED (U.S. / Europe) "Death's Crown" CD review by ISK

Image

By Arnel Saric Sharan

Southwicked the new old skool death metal band orientation coming from the Mecca of American death metal - Tampa in Florida. And if this is not enough information to gain an impression of what sound to expect on this album, and we will say that one of the two main heads of the band Allen West, a former member of the band Six Feet Under and Obituary.

On the band's debut album Southwicked "Death's Crown" is nine tracks, and most of these songs there was the release of the demo from 2011. year.

The album opens up a clip from the film "Shocker" (who does not know, let me go out on the eyes), and immediately after the introduction of the classic moves, brutal bashing, where the riff is more important than technique, where Pope Double driver in combination with kecom and plain, and solos actually rape wire with tremolo handle. Maybe this is a rough description of the album, but so much has already been said in the old approach to writing death metal songs and today was especially popular reincarnation of the old style that really can not invent hot water at refereeing. Lucky for us, so Southwicked not a band that is based on the old sawy, because in fact they play the same junk, so I sound completely authentic, and therefore quite slušljiv and unmolested.

The production is dirty, crude, evil. That any other way, it would be bad. These triggere they love the drum, duboooko will be disappointed. I dare say that Southwicked failed to gain a sound not only garages, but a good produciranog demo which is highly appreciative if you like this kind of music.

"Death's Crown" - nothing new, but not lame. The album was played from the old school to the old school, some will love it, others would not even prismrditi. Listen and decide to which group you fall into.

The GARDNERZ (Sweden) "It All Fades" CD EP review by http://www.greekrebels.gr

Image

By Demosthenes baric

Sweden is generally observed as the metal is a country that has behaved generously to issue birth extreme band. In this case it is the Doomsters The Gardnerz, who earlier in 2011 with their debut album "The System of Nature", which although not as debated album, managed to give a new touch to the Doom metal having space to offer several interesting and fresh ideas. So, in 2012 with their new EP release "It all fades" once again managed to draw our attention to the special musical style, which hardly goes unnoticed. While we observe that many bands of the genre have a special focus on how to present something heavy, dull and drab, the The Gardnerz on atmospheric while imposing compositions, trying to project a climate pessimist while emotional, in their own way forever. The composition will be characterized not complicated but rather more old-school, with enough data and enough death and Opeth Candlemass influences specific area of riffing and vocals. The atmosphere is due to the various riff, which create quite a dark pattern with fairly clean and melodic parts, which "break the ice" monotony giving a touch of melancholy. Beyond that, however, what caused my interest and with surprised I can say is the cover that was on the disk, which is the "Transilvanian Hunger" Norse blacksters Darkthrone. Not so the cover that intrigued me but the way he interpreted ... Adapted from the singer Paolina Strihavka, which is keeping intact the lyrics and melody, it gives a different feeling to the song! I believe that no one had hitherto imagined one acoustic version of "Transilvanian Hunger" together with clean female vocals. Although as a fan of black metal and Darkthrone'm negative, but I realize that was a pretty good effort, which gave a difference in the tray. To avoid tiring the other then, we must say that this is a smart album with apparent effort of the band to win the interest of the listener.

THOUSAND YEAR WAR (U.S.) "Tyrants and Men" DIGI CD review by http://www.greekrebels.gr

Image

By Alexander Konstantourakis

Debut do TYW with a tray carved into the snowy mountains of the north. We do not hear often complex come from places such as northern Alaska. In the footsteps of big sailer Amon Amarth trying to conquer with great success, as o sound is as viking gone, leaving death and the second item in the third degree. The opening track " Defiance "is the feature piece with boldness and passion for wars and heroic moments. Have too much in common with Amon Amarth , since they have the same structure, so that makes you wonder whether their own or not. Also at some point we and other influences and equally epic axiosimeiotes, Immortal and I, having about the same basis as is known. It is no coincidence that they adapt and " The Storm I Ride ". The audio processing and recording drums made in Sweden by completing the package with a terrible, loud and clear sound. Very good attempt with good ideas and good technique, but very dependent on their influences. As much as I enjoyed the album hopefully in the future to make something as good as more unique, it will add much in the way that the world sees them.

ERUPTED (Sweden) "In the Grip of Chaos" CD review by http://www.undergrind.net

Image

By DISCORD

In The Grip Of Chaos is the debut release of Swedish Death Metal band Erupted. After the initial start-up as Beyond Hell, a reformation of he whole band and an EP release titled Faces Of Death under the current band name, they were taken in by Abyss Records for the launch of their Death Metal debut.

In The Grip Of Chaos is 10 tracks strong with a very thick production and some tracks you will spend some extra time on. Overall I would say that Erupted sounds recognizable and with a Death Metal band from Sweden you don’t really have to guess what influences have been used to create their style. This ain’t old-school, if that’s what you’re thinking.

Erupted has mild Cannibal tendencies, but with a slower playing style and a murkier sound they also have depth and originality. Their Death Metal is an attempt to be serious about things, more sophisticated if you will. They focus on the occult and take a philosophical approach when it comes to lyrics. In many ways they have succeeded in translating that into their music and by doing that In The Grip Of Chaos comes of as sincere, passionate and is a no-brainer for Death Metal lovers. Great stuff.

ETERNAL HELCARAXE (Ireland) Interview by Metal Bulletin zine

Image

By Metal Bulletin zine

The album “Against All Odds” constructs melodies within a black/viking metal framework, with slight symphonic/folk overtones (not too much, though). Eternal Helcaraxe works with good arrangements and it is a matter of listening to the songs and hearing where they go, to places of where mood and melody are joined, and which the listening ear will assemble with relative ease, and understand the vibe of Eternal Helcaraxe’s dark melodies. Praetorian (guitars, vocals) answers questions about “Against All Odds.” At the end of the interview you will find all the contact information.

“Against All Odds” took little time to convince me that it is a good album. How have people in Ireland learned about it?

Thanks. Mostly through word of mouth I'd say, through the internet, too, probably. There was a lot of hype about the album before it's release here in Ireland, because the release "To Whatever End" before it seemed to do pretty well.

What is the story of “One Stands Still Here”? It’s the black metal feeling of the guitar speed/feel and the drumming style, but the melody echoes in the listener’s mind after the song ends. It will probably stay in your live setlist for a while?

“One Stands Still Here” just came together. We've only played one show since the release of "Against All Odds" and it was our second song. Didn't realize it was so popular till we played it to be honest! But it's a funny release, as everyone seems to have a different favourite song, my personal favourite changes depending on my mood.

“As the Snow Gathers” has lyrics that communicate the idea of cold freezing death. You used clean vocals on this one, but you have the sense not to make it a formula for every song. How many vocalists are there on that song?

There are three vocalists on every song on the album. We find that the three vocals can add another dimension to the songs. Thule our bass player does the clean vocal on that song. I think less is more when it comes to this type of music, but if it suits the song, that's all that matters. We always just try to write the best song we can.

“Shadow of the Wolf” catches the listener’s attention and it is about 4 minutes long, probably the most all-out black metal song. Did you feel that you are becoming too epic and need some balance? Is it closer to your earlier songs? Was your demo “Palest Kingdom” (2008) less multidimensional than “Against All Odds”? Maybe not? I have not heard it yet!

No, didn't really think of the album as a whole when we were writing it, as I said we just wrote one song at a time and try to give each one what we thought it needed. I'm not too sure if our writing style has changed to be honest. We have been playing three of the songs from "Palest Kingdom" in rehearsal because we're re-recording them for a re-release of "To Whatever End" with bonus tracks through Abyss Records. We're re-recording "Burning Light", "Palest Kingdom" and "The Undying Lands". It'll be out next year at some stage. If anything "Palest Kingdom" was probably more epic to be honest, the songs were longer and there was a lot more keyboards on it, too. It was a bedroom recording though so the production really lets it down.

The song “Against All Odds” could be the love song on the album! The war/blood/sword/wolf imagery on the other songs can come across as macho/nationalistic (and homophobic), but on this one, the lyrics worked out very well for the epic feel.

Yes, it's been described as a love song before which is nice, that's what I was aiming for when I wrote it, homophobic is a new one though! Anyway, I think lyrics have to be honest to have impact and that's just how I was feeling when I wrote them. When I'm writing lyrics I don't think of stupid shit like if they are Black metal or Viking metal enough, mainly because most Black metal lyrics in bands are pretty crap, bar a couple of band like Primordial, 40 Watt Sun/Warning or whatever.

Metal Archives says that both Tyrith and Praetorian play drums on the album and Praetorian does drums, guitars, keyboards and vocals?

No, Tyrith done all the drums. I don't know were they got that from, they should probably do some research into these things! I do guitars, keyboards and a third of the vocals.

Do all of you live in the same city? Only Praetorian remains from the old days? Was it hard to find like -minded people?

We all live in the same town, yeah. No, myself and Maulgrim (guitars, vocals) have been in the band from the start. Haha, maybe you should do your research, too! Yeah, both of us couldn't find members to work and stick with us until after the "Palest Kingdom" release. But the line-up we have had for the last two releases have been great. We've also started writing the new album, too and it’s really strong.

What type of childhood did Praetorian have that he learned guitar, drums, keyboards and vocals? “Drums” does not mean “drum machine programming” in this case, does it? By the way, what is “Éadóchas”?

I just loved music when I was younger. Still do. Yeah, I programmed the drums for the first release, badly. “Éadóchas” is an ambient side project I do. First release "Beneath The Lonely Mountain" is out on Sword Production. (http://www.sword.pt.vu/) Any one interested, check it out. http://www.reverbnation.com/eadochas, http://www.myspace.com/eadochas New album "Against All Odds" is available from: http://www.officialabyssrecords.com, http://www.eternalhelcaraxe.net THE END.

FETUS STENCH (Sweden) "Stillbirth" CD review by http://www.metalhead.it

Image

By Alberto Vitale

deadly, powerful, fierce, short, death metal. Why Fetus Stench is this: the classic death metal band and what could never be with that name? Their sound does not fly in hybrids, new trends, watered down, but it is the continuation of the total school death metal. Blast beats that vary in speed, sudden mid-tempo solos hosting grim. The melodies that taste of arcane and ruthless at the same time. Blows from orbi! Nothing new and nothing momentous, but if someone is loving death metal should not matter "Stillbirth", by lightning and you nailed to his cross. The speakers ooze blood, rot, the album turns and does it matter if a few pieces maybe sounds too? "Brennkommando" is the third track and everything seems like an army of assassins destroys and sweeps everything. The band was born in Sweden in 2011 by members of the Anti Christian Death Squad and "Stillbirth" is their manifesto extremist who has no particular claim, if not the only desire to play the canon death metal and stop!

DESULTOR (Sweden) "Masters of Hate" CD / LP review by http://www.mariosmetalmania.com

Image

By Mario van Dooren

This band was formed in 2007 by Ibrahim Stråhlman (Drums) and Markus Joha (Gitaren, Vocals) and they make a mix of Progressive Power & Death Metal; a weird but original idea! When I first listened to this album I was already convinced that this was “another” Abyss Records death/black metal release….the more I was surprised by the Warel Dane (Nevermore) sounding vocals! Incredible!! Desultor is a mix of thrash with death/black metal but with (mostly) clean melodramatic vocals that really suit me! The complete album is filled with full speed ahead songs that I don't want to listen to in my car radio, just afraid of yet another few charges for driving far above the speedlimits…..Superb album with turning up riffs, blasting beat drums and awesome vocals! I love it!! Just curious how they will do this on stage with only 2 members??? Hope to see these guys someday ON stage! Cant wait for it!!!

BANE (Serbia) "The Acausal Fire" DIGI CD review by ISK

Image

By Arnel Saric Sharan

Novi Sad band BANE was the subject of my delight when I two years ago (for the two years?) Heard and reviewed their debut work "Chaos, Darkness & Emptiness". This combination of death and black sound with a musical foundation that I nalakše characterized as evil BANE quite aside from the mass of similar bands. I can say that, despite the constant fatigue and saturation metal sound rather waiting for "The Acausal Fire."

And this November, the album finally saw the dark of night in the release of American publishing houses Abyss Records. The story continues in general, if you had a chance to listen to the band's first album, then you know what to expect. If not, then it's time to interest you: Swedish sound shod combination of black and death metal with gloomy, morbid, generally nasty atmosphere. Music is just the way they are texts, no there is nothing positive, just pain and suffering, but how they are strong and very human emotions, I believe that many will find at least one second in the texts themselves, but also the message of the text itself. I do not know why, but when I listen BANE, either this or the first album, the sight of my landscapes from Barkerovog "Hellbound Heart".

And this album is brilliantly BANE izaranžirao everything from the first to the last track, and chaotic shift gears and slow, beautiful parts are completely natural, and the transition are not hugely barricades on the road that you spoil your listening pleasure. Everything is smooth, fluent , just great harmonious.

Production, as my memory serves, there is little movement of the first part, at least as far as the qualitative traits in my opinion, but I must add that I liked better drum sound on the first album. And maybe he was nicer and warmer day, so I was better mood.

Album's worth of each recommendation, extreme metal release that quality is one of the very top of the world's black-death scene. All the more reason to Branislav Panic, father and mother Bane continue to work and find a new lineup of Bane in faraway Canada.

DAEMONICUS (Sweden) "Deadwork" CD review by ISK

Image

By Arnel Saric Sharan

You allow me to tell you a fantastic experience to support the band: when the concert was announced in May, the Swedish Daemonicusa 2012th in Sarajevo, I was, for lack of a second and better resources, visited a number of good sources of illegal music and illegally removed the "Host of Rotting Flesh," the band's debut album, which continues the story of traditional Swedish death metal school (BOSS HM2, who does not know, does not that we can explain). When I listened to them live, money that I was supposed to spend on alcohol, I spent the two CD releases, download album and EP "11th Hour." And I felt butterflies in my stomach. I corrected the injustice.

The band's new album "Deadwork" issued by Abyss Records in November and the story continues, but on a larger, more sophisticated and better level. "Deadwork" is a masterful death metal act that tramples the footsteps of bands like Dismember and Grave, but far from being a rotten copy of which has anything to say. What really impresses on this album, and what gives it a special charm is the fact that apart from the brutality caused by the combustion of Swedish school Daemonicus dares to integrate and melodic passages that are far from the band thrown in the same basket with one or at the Gates, do not give Uncle Matt of Dismembera with In Flames. This melody plays the same role as subtle horror themes that made us that as children we cover the head and feet and quilt when you lie down and pretend that nothing can grab all the while we were under the duvet.

The strength of this album lies in the fact that the production does not harm the atmosphere nimal, all somehow orchestrate and captivating in a very special way, and the weight is simply a joy to listen to the album, second by second, as all arrangements are very smart and integrated the idea, although they use existing patterns, bring something new, something Daemonicusovo.

I placed the album in the first half of the nineties, without any doubt, what's it mean that this is for all of you old guardsman, a good solution would be and a few new, young ears prick up as he records and plays one neplastičan, emotional death metal album . Simply a delight!

ROCKING CORPSES (Finland) "Rock 'n' Rott" CD review by http://www.greekrebels.gr

Image

By George "Kelenmar" Vassiliadis

Mildly moderate Death 'n' Roll (and good) from Finland. The only real point of course Death every so are the growling vocals and music nothing else. Otherwise, tsalapatontas in the footsteps of 'Wolverine Blues', the 'Rock' n 'Rott' is a weird and totally simplistic, almost minimalist, amalgam of Metallica, Motorhead, AC / DC, Guns 'n' Roses, Clutch and Entombed with special orientation in most Southern paths while the pieces to have a certain aesthetic Horror not perceived both very musical but (although ultimately quite funny and aptly) using different samples and corresponding lyrics. Also two out of three pieces have not even solo and evil is that what they have is very good ... so I really do not know what I was thinking. Intensity generally minimal as the pieces are not only purely Blues - Southern phase (and not at its best), with a little Metal coating, but most are loose, mid-tempo. Still have written a heap of good heavy riffares here. There are also exceptions to point as in bit parts well enough 'For Better For Worse' and 'Take a Whiskey', or perhaps in the best disc completely Motorhead 'Dead End'. However, this does not cease to be, although the debut of the band and the other in the final, the band manages to sound just like so of course leaving room for more vivid, homogeneous compositions. So anyone who wants to hear something totally simple and pleasant and withstands heavy vocals every so often we rush to check.

SOUTHWICKED (U.S. / Europe) "Death's Crown" CD review by http://www.undergrind.net

Image

By Discord

Abyss Records signed Alan West’s new band South Wicked. He played with Obituary and Six Feet Under. and can you ever hear that on Death’s Crown!

This debut release is nothing less than Haunted all over again (not forgetting his days in Obituary). This was the debut release that Six Feet Under came out with in 1995. It’s really astounding to hear the similarities.

The old school Death Metal style is great to bang you head to, especially with those grooving riffs and heavy sound. The songs chug along quite nicely with speedier parts sparsely scattered throughout the album.

When it comes to the vocal style and sound, I have to refer back to Six Feet Under again. It really isn’t too different. Luckily for South Wicked it’s all not bothersome.

Death’s Crown simply is a sequel to Haunted, and a good one at that.

DAEMONICUS (Sweden) "Deadwork" CD review by http://www.undergrind.net

Image

By Discord

Sweden, the country that has more Death Metal bands than China has people.

And could a band like Daemonicus stand out from the crowd with their second full length Deadwork?

They released it with Abyss Records, so they’ll get some good exposure as long as the reviewers out there, like me, are picking up on Deadwork.

Their debut album found daylight in 2009 and was titled Host Of Rotting Flesh. The band hasn’t lost their style of Melodic Death Metal and Deadwork adds another 10 tracks to their oeuvre of continued decay.

The sound on Deadwork is clear, giving drums and guitar an equal position. The sparsely used solo work adds tremendous amounts of atmosphere and fits in perfectly with the moody and dark energy that Deamonicus wants to achieve. In general Deadwork is bombastic, something you definitely want out of a Melodic Death Metal band, but I find it somewhat lacking in strong melodies, just like Thrash Metal bands can lack in catchy riffs.

I think their strong point is combining melody and speed, like in the Grandeur Of Total Termination, We Feast On Your Flesh and Inhabited.

With Deadwork Deamonicus sets a dark mood through slow tempo’s and dim melody lines. If you add the great production and have a weak spot for Melodic Death Metal then you won’t make a miss getting Deadwork in physical form.

CORROSIVE CARCASS (Sweden) "Composition of Flesh" CD review by http://www.metalbite.com

Image

By Tom

Corrosive Carcass was formed in 2004, but “Composition Of Flesh” is their debut album. There was a demo in between, but it took 8 long years to release their first album and even though the sound is something that Dismember or Nihilist introduced, there is much more on this album than a copy of old school Death Metal from Sweden. Corrosive Carcass manages to take all the best elements from the old school elite, add their own twist into it, mix and mash the tempos and then puke the essence onto the world.

It don’t seem to me that those guys set out to be most original, but when Dismember is no more, when Entombed releases are in demand and when old school Death Metal is a must, Corrosive Carcass is there to put out some exquisite headbanging tunes. With over 40 minutes of music, there is something for everyone in here and for everyone, meaning people with a serious need for Swedish Death Metal. Guitars sound dirty and gritty - bringing the best of the best out there to mind, drumming that compliments the guitars and deliciously rumbling bass is set to perfect level and attacks with just the right headbanging speed; and last but not least is the guttural growl-insane screams-sickening shriek vocals that shred all the nerve endings. Sounds like something you were looking for? It definitely made my day, let me tell you that. Lyrics on “Composition Of Flesh” are very much something expected on that type of release and so is the artwork which to me is a kick-ass, mind-blowing sickness. Cover was created by Remember The Fallen Artworks and there isn’t any other info about where to check what else they got so you’re on your own. I know those guys put that design on a t-shirt and a long sleeve and I would do same because it doesn’t get better than that. Check it out and tell me I’m right!

Don’t know what caused the 8 year delay but I’ll be on the lookout for their next release. There are few bands out there that play this old school shit and I love every single one of them. Corrosive Carcass joins the list of my favorite releases this year and let me tell you this: if you haven’t heard that one yet, you are missing on some ol’ good Death Metal! Now let’s see if I can get me a new shirt.

BANE (Serbia) "The Acausal Fire" DIGI CD review by ameblo.jp

Image

By ameblo.jp

Serbia's new Black Death Metal band production. There is only the image in a country that was in the former Yugoslavia Speaking of Serbia, the pattern of the civil war that was being transmitted on a daily basis in the news a long time ago, this country personally in the country which can not be metal and flourishing again might be the first time the band. Close (recent) in Dissection and Naglfar late as a black metal band who is obviously strong, but is similar to that Black Death Metal. Is not high enough lyricism two bands, I just might be more orthodox. I think quite high levels in melodic black take the high road, and if the listener likes Merobura like there is no glitz.

CORROSIVE CARCASS (Sweden) "Composition of Flesh" CD review by Goatsden

Image

By Goatsden

The debut from a Swedish death/gore metal band, "Composition Of Flesh" is a thick and sludgy attack, with the requisite gurgled vocals. Is this some kind of tribute to early Carcass? Not necessarily, as Corrosive Carcass seem more structured and, dare I say, almost tuneful as compared to Steer and Walker's legendary English gore/grind act. There remains some quality, if somewhat derivative, work here, nonetheless.

"Self Mutilation" is a solid slab of fuzzy, downtuned guitars and a breakneck pace. "Born In A Casket" would be perfect for a frenzied mosh pit (if those exist anymore), with multi-tempoed attacks that divebomb into blurry thrash madness. Other cuts are dynamic and well-produced berzerkers, as well. Corrosive Carcass aren't doing anything too unique, but they do a wonderful job creating ugly, sludgy metal monsters that mosh with the best of them. I liked.

BANE (Serbia) "The Acausal Fire" DIGI CD review by warheim

Image

By Rimmön

Bane is a resultant force of many components, which, in a straight line gave a surprisingly positive effect. So the game is played in Serbia, ladies and gentlemen. Until now, I had one contact with the country and it was a very successful album, The Stone black metal. This time we have to deal with something on the border of death / black metal. Bane very successfully uses almost thrash'owej rhythm and melody shows the magnitude. Draws handful of new school Scandinavian black metal and doing it extremely well. Normally, it weaves acoustic interludes, but despite that it offers a very hackneyed patents uses them wisely so that you do not kiwamy head with pity on the "here we go again." Oh no - "The Acausal Fire" presents a high quality, which, despite many similarities are processed on their way. There are a few clean vocal inclusions but also something else sounded by the shell. They are screaming virgins, which probably disrupted this and that - but it is still pleasing to the ear - as if for the first time occurred.

The largest and probably the only disappointment in this, the second is długograju drums. Boring and not admire solutions. It notch or secondary, to put it mildly. Meet the required minimum and does not stick out like a special but leaves some unsatisfied against relatively rich guitars. From what I remember it said The Stone had a similar problem. Death metal version of this machine makes a positive impression, but it's definitely melodic variety of the species. Apparently I do not have a problem with it but generally makes'm getting sleepy. Here is just because they kidnapped and raped; but features a strong tug. That's all. Class vocals are strong suit Bane. Growl aka rattle cause a pleasant state of atrial fibrillation eyes and falling down the other side. Classically but with verve and paler. I can not fault anything special this record. Not breathes originality but it is not a big problem. Perfectly catchy. It is well made, well thought out and played with his head. What more could you want out of the more addictive drums? I just think at the moment.

DESULTOR (Sweden) "Masters of Hate" CD / LP review by Goatsden

Image

By Goatsden

The debut album from Swedish duo Desultor is what the band themselves call "Murder Metal". I dunno about that description, but "Masters Of Hate" opens well with the big thrashy "Black Monday", which is like classic British metal, albeit with blastbeats! Production is clear and crunchy, so this smokes, right out of the gate.

From there, this 11-song, 33-minute album combines the melodic and cacophonous. "Another World" combines slower, melodic, classic falsetto vocal stylings with fearsome blast-thrash riffs and rhythms. There are guitar solos here, too, so Desultor aren't afraid to go "old school". Solid, solid stuff for fans of metal as it once was.

FETUS STENCH (Sweden) "Stillbirth" CD review by pestwebzine

Image

By Adrian

Debut album for this upcoming Swedish Death Metal act, Stillbirth is made of 9 tracks totalling almost 40 minutes of old-school type of Anerican Brutal Death Metal, so not the new hyper-blasting, hyper-speedy type of Brutal Death, and not the Swedish trademark type of Death Metal either. Fetus Stench alternate between mid-tempo and fast paced rhythms with a major emphasis on the fast parts. The drum work is the highlight of this band although they all do their thing pretty well and the overall impression on this debut album is a good one: tight riffs, good (but unfortunately only a few) guitar solos, great drumming, brutal spot-on vocals that although are not versatile at all are not boring either, good bass lines (although I would have liked a bit more volume on bass as it seems the guy playing it has talent). A 100% Death Metal album that will make your day and a young band with excellent potential, that's what Abyss has discovered in Sweden recently.

RADIATION SICKNESS (U.S.) "Reflections of a Psychotic Past" CD review by pestwebzine

Image

By Adrian

Honestly I wasn't familiar with this band before gettings their new album for review. Actually this is their debut album although the band was established back in '87. Well, now I'm very glad Abyss Records sent this material over, I have discovered a band I can say I'm a fan of now. Radiation Sickness is an old-school dirty, unpolished mid-tempo to fast paced Death Metal, the typical American way. The highlight of Radiation Sickness are the awesome vocals of Doug Palmer, this guy sounds like a combination of Obituary and Bluuurgh! if you remember them, that type of phlegmatic, sick vocals that work so well with this type of music. The instrumental part is quite ok too although I would have liked a bit more of that awesome vocals that show up here and there. The album contains also a re-recording of their 1990 EP "The Other Me - A Journey Into Insanity", so you get no less than 19 tracks although they are all short (an average of 1:30 minutes/track).

Not to be confused with the legendary American hardcore band of the same name, this is the four-piece blackened death metal Bane, from Serbia. This is the band's first album, they've just got a new one out on Abyss Records, but thought I would step back a little into the archives and introduce the band to your good selves.

The classical sounding keyboard beginning is, for me, well put together but too long, but the first 'main' song 'The true insomnia' soon makes up for that and makes me forget. A very interesting mix of blackened sounds melt together well with something a little more punishing, dark and deathly.

This nods its head majorly to Dark Funeral's later albums I think, whilst giving us hints of the first Dissection album and a little early Marduk. A very nice combination of sounds that Bane manage to weld together smoothly, potently and with memorable riffs and vocal patterns that soon make this a very tasty proposition. A new name to myself before grabbing hold of this one, so I am now looking forward to their new one.
