Rexxz, how's Codex Incubo selling right now? I want to buy a copy, but I'm not going to get the money my sister owes me until around Nov. 1, and I don't want it to be sold out by the time I get my money.

Oh, great! Hopefully Miguel can get around to doing that interview, too.

One person, two different names by the way.

So, out of pure curiosity, what kind of money are you making off of this?

None. I got some copies but that's it. Money is hard to expect with a debut from an all but unknown band. I wouldn't think we'd get any serious monetary gains unless we work with a much bigger label.

That's sort of what I figured. Unless this is too far off topic, I wondering at what point, in terms of label size, can one start to expect even small amounts of profit?

Well it depends on how well you can move copies of your own music if you're dealing with a merch cut only label like most of the small ones. For instance, Ancestral on my label I know moves his CDs pretty well so I'd imagine he's making a bit of profit.

That's right, but I don't plan on selling any of my copies, at least for a while. I'd like the labels who funded the pressing be able to start moving their stuff first, since they invested money in this.

This is neither here nor there but you guys aren't too far from where I grew up.

You guys looking for a label or will you just go the self-prodeced route for now? Anyhow, it sounds pretty good from what I have heard thus far.

Yeah we'll shop around for a label that can offer is good distribution and decent exposure after we get some teaser material for the next album.

I guess if you want to try to woo the bigger labels later on, you guys might have to cut your teeth on the touring circuit. Try to book some Florida shows since death metal is so prominent there. New York is also good since they have that supposed NYDM scene. Whatever the hell that consists of.

If the album sells out, will the label print more copies? Or would something be required of you for them to be inclined to print more?

Unrelated, but I'm gonna recieve my copy when my friend's friend visits Pakistan. He ordered it for me :D I can't wait :)

Rexxz, is the band going to stay a 2-person band or will you complete the line up by hiring full time players?

Cool to hear!

As far as more members; they are unnecessary but I think it would be cool to have a drummer with his own recording facilities and a suitable skillset/style for the band. Those are hard to come by so I don't put too much faith in it. We function fine right now with me doing 85% and Juan on the other 15.

For those interested, we'll post a teaser song for the next album up next week. Expect Timeghoul + Morpheus Descends.

Finally got "Codex Incubo". IMO one of the three best death metal albums of this year. I have one complaint though: the booklet's too damn small! Only four pages. :(

And is that cute green thingie on the cover the dreaded Cthulhu himself?

The insert is only 4 panel to cut down the production cost of the album. The next one will be an 8 panel probably.

The creature on the cover art is not Cthulhu (that monster was never really explicitly used in the album either, though) but is something that would be mentioned in track 3, the 'star-spawned tyrants'.

Is the difference in cost between 4 panel and 8 panel so big? Asking because here it isn't.

I am uncertain, the labels wanted to go for the 4 panel though, for that reason. I think it probably isn't too significant but since they are small labels with very limited resources, it makes sense that they wish to be as conservative as they can.

Hmm, I can see where they're coming from. Here's hoping it'll get re-issued some time in the future with a booklet as epic as the album itself. :)

New track's ok, loving the melody (or amelody) of the opening lead salvo thing, but you kind of lose me after that. It just seems a flat and/or uninspired? Maybe 'devoid of energy' is the thing I'm looking for. Your vocals have gotten pretty good (and the choir is a good idea), but overall it's hardly the most exciting thing ever. Picks up nicely around the ending, though.

Yeah that's a pretty great deal. Lots of places are picking up the album now, xtreemusic has it now, too (and also a review of it on their site).

They also have a Mithras album marked "Black Metal". More worrisome is the fact that to estimate shipping costs, you click the button marked "Estimate Shopping".

Open Grave always seems to have a lot of crazy sales but their regular prices are only average.

Just ordered it off of open grave since I've heard so many good reviews for it. I'm expecting the best.
