I wouldn't state that you'll do work for free if you really like some one's music. If some one approaches you for a logo and do not fall into this category then it might bruise their ego and they might not want work from you where as they might have payed.

You can approach bands that you want to do work for because you are a fan and want your work to be associated with them yourself, and not make it a publicly known thing. You should also have rigid prices that can then be negotiated if need be. This is the way Christophe is doing now, I think, and it works for him as we all know!

Just some business advise.... it's worked for me so far.

yeah I agree with you in point where I should state a price but I see different artists charging so different amounts that I don't know what to ask for. as for egos, the only one I care about is my own haha.
thanks for the advice.

Well, your logos do vary in quality a bit. Some of them just don't do it for me, and some of them are fucking awesome. So that might be the best way to go, but I'd still stick a standard price tag of $20-$50 to go off of.

Have you seen any of your logos on cd's, ect yet? It also looks like you get jerked around by shitty bands a bit.

well I think the band Aegnor ripped me off as they have released an EP (with the logo I made) and did not pay me for the logo and haven't even send me a single copy of the release (although the guy swears to have sent it a couple of times). Eudaimonia are in ways to release a demo-tape, and has released 2 EP which exist with no physical support. And finally the Velorio logo will appear on Lusitanian Dark Horde II and since I personally know the guy I think I can trust him. Oh and Puter Deus has also used the logo I made on their second demo. As for the rest well at least it was good training, I'm sorry about the goreationed and cult of daajal logo which I think were really good and may have been done in vain, and this is one of the reasons why I want to charge for the work now.

Something alittle easier than actually designing a logo if you're up for it:
Any chance you could retexture this logo, in other words add highlights and shadows to emphasize the shape (NOT gradient please)... if possible with a version in the colour it is already (silver) and another version in a random colour (NOT black or white) so i can edit it for album use... Any additional tweaking (to make the edges less 'pixellated' and sharp for instance) would be much appreciated
Thankyou for your time!

EDIT: On second thoughts i didnt actually think to tell you... we havent recorded anything yet, however we do have some demos (midi) if you'd like to hear them? :)

That's sad to hear man, the logo is pretty good. I'd recommend payment up front, and if they aren't pleased with it, retract the payment via paypal.

I'm doing logos again.

Advises:

+I'm more skilled at Bm-like logos
+I'll charge for the logo
+Price will vary according to the following: music genre, released material, nº of band members.
+Charges may be made in either cash or items
+For exact prices, or any doubts feel free to Pm me

Lol, you'll charge a 4 member band more than a 2 member band?

so if stipulate 50€/ logo for a band of 5 members
and 20€ for a band of 2 members

are you able to see the logic now? it's called proportion, a basic mathematical way of solving everyday problems. If everyone has as much financial problems as I, I believe that is easier for a guy of a 5 member band to pay 10€ for his logo than a guy in a 2 man group which will have to pay 25€ if the price stays at 50€.

this is of course a simulation since there will be other factors to ballance.

I'll be happy to clear anymore doubts.

Great logos and a helpful and trustworthy person. Definitely recommended for anyone looking for a logo.

Nice work - especially like the Goreatione treatment.

Sorry, but that's a horrible policy. The price should always depend on your work, not how much money the client has. What if there's a bunch of members who are poor? What if it's a one man band with a bunch of live or recording session members?

I think there was a misunderstanding, the price doesn't increase with the number of band members, I charge less for a band with less members, face it as a discount.
