I suggest you put the lyrics in this thread. This way they will get more attention and critiques. I like what you have so far.

Lord Worm, your lyrics seem really good and I don't think anybody who is able to tolerate the musical brutality of the style in the first place, will be offended by them. I think there's no need to change anything.

Very true. And not only cool, but powerful too. My favorite writer is Cormac McCarthy and though he basically doesn't 'do' grammar his language is the best I've read.

Also, I'm really excited about the record. Keep it up.

Don't worry, Lord. These are cool lyrics. Why would you be afraid of censorship anyway?

and while he shouldn't be all that worried cause it's Heavy Metal and they don't really give a shit about us (not played on radio enough to 'be a bother'), it's not that out-there for him to at least be mindful of it

Haha. That is completely unrelated to this discussion.

In other news, I was listening to the two tracks out on myspace today and while I like them quite a bit, I'm hoping for something different on the vocals for the final production. The performance sounds good, but I think the effects have been over applied. I'm also really looking forward to hearing it with a real drummer, but that's probably true for everyone.

if you scroll down to the part labelled "Suppression", yes it does, as i was using it as an example of how stupid our censorship can be-of which Metantoine was questioning Lord Worm about, thereby relating it to said discussion about censorship

I'm well aware of the controversy surrounding that song, but it relates specifically to the ruling that the word 'faggot' was unacceptable for radio play on stations that are part of the Canadian Association of Broadcasters (although they later retracted that ruling). It doesn't apply in this case because this music is not going to be played on mainstream radio stations subject to those standards. And those standards are, for the most part, reasonable.

My tone probably came off wrong there, I wasn't trying to 'fling poop'. But it's fairly obvious that a huge amount of metal is unacceptable by CAB standards.

Howdy, me again...

What you've been listening to on MySpace are ghost tracks, although we've taken the trouble to polish them up a bit, so they're at least semi-presentable. (For anyone not in the know, "ghost track" refers to the initial recording made while the ideas are fresh. They're a kind of an aide-mémoire, but instead of writing things down, you ghost track 'em.)
Besides which, while Mr. Widigs has been sending us his drum tracks over the last couple of weeks, Alvater and DarkRage have been busy redoing the guitar tracks so that they'll sound fuller when the drums are mixed in. Bass and keyboards will follow. There are some vocal parts that need retooling, as well, but honestly, there are no effects. We fill things out with reverb/echo as, I think, all bands do, but that's it. That's me making that racket, not a machine.

By the way: thank y'all for the feedback. We appreciate it.

You do mic-cup however, right? Not saying it's an effect, I'm asking out of curiosity.

Howdy.

If by "mic cup" you mean "crush the mic in my fist 'til my palm goes all cheese-gratery", then yes, I do that, but not for sound effect: that's just me playin' rough.

I'm convinced; this is gonna be a complete blast. Also, to Mr. Greening; first of all, thanks a lot for the information (this also goes to Alvater, of course). And secondly, even though I know that I'm just echoing the general consensus around here, I'd like to tell you to not worry much about censorship, as the demographic you're aiming this stuff at is not really concerned with political correctness.

It does add some extra distortion/saturation and dirtiness alien to the natural sound of the voice though.
It's a matter of preferences in the end anyways, it's not a technique I embrace, but even if I did, I can't stand even near the microphone without getting small shocks of electricity. Your voice has always sounded awesome in the end, and that's what matters anyway.

I can't wait to hear this. Any idea if you'll be throwing in some of those crazy inhaled vocals here and there?

You guys should consider making a Facebook page for the band and keeping us updated on there as well.

We will have a facebook and a Internet site, when we will have finished to mixed a couple of songs......We are doing eveything by ourself, so we can not do averything in the same time...We are not Dimmu Borgir so we have to work on a fucking day job + recording + family+ mixing + internet thing....We don't have the money the pay someone to take care of all internet things, so i do it when i have the time....And i am not a programer or a crack in that domain, so the result is really not perfect....But we don't give a fuck, we are doing music because we like it...If people don't like us because we don't have a beautiful internet site, or myspace or what ever, fuck them.

Howdy, y'all.

With the advent of hideous Spring hereabouts these days, I say Fuck Xmas, this is the perfect time for gift-giving. May I present:

"THE GIFT OF THE FURNACE

"Spare the bloodbaths,
spoil the vermin"

Bloodwolf Incarnate
has his shadows against the sky;
his Empire is one of faces
where all hope dies

A decision is hammered out,
and calls for Special Handlers;
the Ultimate Reckoning:
Administrative Dissolution

There is always more unsettlement,
for more and more will come,
like a procession of mourners
grieving over themselves;
still more will come,
as part of the Greater Sorrow,
Welcomed by gray angels
of extermination

"We hunted them like dogs,
dogs whose Master is HATE,
with our friends Night and Fog
to help us annihilate them;
for HATE restores black VIOLENCE
to its rightful place:
directed at the mongrels
whose crime is on their faces"

Living spaces piled
with the scabrous, the dying;
it's time they received
the Gift of the Furnace

One doesn't get
to watch people burn
as often in life
as one might like to...

because humans burn
like nothing else:
this fact alone
makes it all worth it

They cry as they tell
(their) tales of torment in filth;
when will they learn
that HATE spares no one?

The Exalted Flame,
never in quiet repose,
returns with the Cross
and his Gray Eminence

...a life so long spent
in the company of Death,
in the Warbringer's wake,
where HATE spares no one"

As far as Unrelenting Fucking Hatred goes, that there seems to be the mean one. I say "seems to be", because those of you who know my lyrics, know that my usual procedure in lyric writing is to leave things, if not ambiguous, at least arguable in some way.

Back soon, droogies...

That one seems less overtly ambiguous or arguable than some previous ones, at least. I find this the best one so far.

Again, I can't wait for the album to be finished and released.

Because all life is not just WAR and KILLing (although some of us would advocate exactly that), here's a little sex, just for the (heh-heh) fuck[i] of it:

"THE FEEDING HABITS OF HOMO HORRIBLIS

Toilet slaves who eat shit and beg for it,
lusty bitches: bound, gagged and whipped,
a nine-year-old girl forced to give head:
but this is snuff - she gets pumped full of lead;
and the walls came down,
and the band played on,
and the song remains the same

Masturbating amputees,
animals getting raped,
fetishism and sodomy:
porno shows us the Way

Rubber diapers, sit on his back -
inflamed ass gets twenty more whacks;
Motorized genitals, turning a trick:
we call it Love, you call it sick;
There's give and there's take,
but the more things change,
the more they remain the same..."

Wrote that one back in late '90/early '91, when Steve Thibault and I had a gore-grind side project going (name of [i]PUS
. We never got around to using this song (at the time called Filth and Degradation), but I've kept all my old lyrics, should the need for them (or a cannibalized portion of them) ever arise. For whatever reason, I thought they fit with the RN motif.

Talk to y'all later...

It's pretty different from the rest of the lyrics for sure, but if RN will do a None So Vile-esque song, those lyrics could be fitting.

Jesus Christ, it's Lord Worm himself. I am holding back the urge to scream. Nevermind, I just screamed.

Mr. Worm, it's be an honor to talk with you one-on-one. You are THE biggest influence on me as far as vocals and lyrics go... I practically worship your stuff, it's amazing!

I can't wait for the Rage Nucléaire stuff to come out... I will pay extra to have a signed copy from you guys.

Tell me, what inspires you in writing? I catch a few subtle nods to King and Barker here and there...

the lyrics are okay I guess. They don't touch early Cryptopsy.

Great lyrics. Hey Worm, I have a question about this line:

Quote:
There's give and there's take,
but the more things change,
the more they remain the same...

Is this a reference to Circumstances by Rush?

Quote:
Plus c'est la meme chose
The more that things change,
The more they stay the same.

I like the title 'Filth and Degradation' better than the current one, but that's just me. Really awesome lyrics.

Quote:
One doesn't get
to watch people burn
as often in life
as one might like to...

Love it.

Howdy, folks.

Let's see now, there was a question about King and Barker: yep, 2 major influences there, as well as Bentley Little and Michael McDowell. World cinema is a huge influence, too.
"The more things change, the more they remain the same" I heard somewhere a lot time ago, possibly even from my very own mother (I do have one, oddly enough).
One of you folks remarked upon the possibly satirical aspect of some of my jottings; it's possible, but unconscious, although someone else once found my stuff darkly humorous. I'll admit to that. Humanity is nothing, if not something to mock.

I'll leave y'all with another. Here's:

"HUNT WITH MURDERWORMS, SCULPT WITH FLIES

In a religion based on feces,
all angels are soul-flies,
and white worms find the human,
the writhing human who dies

Craft shows its inverted hand,
with its sickly corpsewater shine,
to guide the white worms of Murder,
to show them where to dine

Blood sits in carrion Judgement
and damns to flies
to the chitinous song
of a billion carcass flies

Pestilence rides the Maggot Wind:
blood disease flies
to swell the ranks of the dead
and animate them as they rise

By brightest Crossmoon, all who die
grease the night with scarlet cries;
the Witchspawn hunt with murderworms
and sculpt with flies

Exoskeletally enslaved,
the staring dead dream of the Grave:
from Sister Grief and Mother Chaos,
they can't be saved

the moon, in white dispassion,
will fly like a shroud of bones,
to seep from faces in the soil,
to bleed from faces in the stone

Flesh for flesh, and souls to fall,
Filth and Madness do enthrall
the Sire of Sin, who with his Fire
catches us all"

I know. That's a lot of flies, there. Flies buzzing around, flies making noise, flies not belonging.
They piss me off, although I admire their kinship with impurity (from a Judeo-Christian p.o.v.). I figure most of us feel something like that, vis-a-vis flies I mean, so I dumped a whole bunch of them in there, just to piss everyone off, myself included.

You're welcome.

Talk to y'all later...

I think the use of flies is more than appropiate, because as pointed out by yourself, they have this association with decay and misery that fits what you want to convey like a glove. As for what you said regarding the humour of your writings; I never found your lyrics exactly funny (not even in a dark, twisted way), although pieces like Slit Your Guts (I can't stress enough how much I like your lyrics in that particular song) I find to be strangely although enjoyably caricaturesque, due to how you usually paint psychopaths and murderers in an almost sympathetic light.

Obviously aware that neither production nor recording is final, but wanted to say that the riffs themselves are awesome. And the lyrics are a very fun read.
