Ereb Altor have a new track online from their upcoming 3rd album. It is not the final version and is slightly different from their earlier material, in saying that the band states the new album will be more influenced by the earlier Bathory albums. The track will only be online for a few days.

To be perfectly honest, it's really hard to judge the song at this point because it has been uploaded to their Myspace at such a low bit rate. Their previous album, The End, was one of my favourite releases of 2010, but that being said the shift towards more early Bathory territory should prove a great change of pace. I don't really think the band could have kept their sound 'fresh' continuing on the trajectory The End set.

Ok the album teaser sounds interesting indeed, quite a change in musical direction compared to the first two albums, much more aggressive affair this time. I will be interested in hearing the full thing when its released, thanks for the updated link.

Listening to the leaked copy. I personally love this change of style. Combination of aggression and Epic passages. Definitely a postive for me. Loving this...

I'm really enjoying the leaked copy, particularly Dispellation, but I personally think that it uses the harsh vocals much too often. To me, the clean vocals have always been a huge part of what makes Ereb Altor particularly special.

On another note though, am I the only person getting a Watain vibe from the harsh vocals?

I need to pick this up when it comes out, sounds very promising but I would agree that I would like to see a bit more of a mix with black and clean vocals. I always thought the clean vocals were excellent and very similar to Quorthon, they again I liked the Viking era of Bathory the most, still sounds very good.

Bit of a shock having absolutely no doom on it, but it is a solid album. I like the cleans which add a bit of size to the straight up black metal on this.

The End is pretty much flat out doom, so the contrast is even greater than you'd expect.

It's their version of Blood Fire Death. Definitely quite a change in direction, but they did it very well.

Awesome! That sounds great, it'll rank up their with By Honour and Myrding as their best tracks. Glad theyre going back to their early sound (at least in this track), but with a bit of the black style to keep up the excitement.

Damn thats really good, have the got another album (or an EP) on the horizon? "Gastrike" was my favourite album released in 2012. These guys are quickly becoming one of my favourite bands, one great release after another.

At first when I saw the thread title, I thought to myself - "Damn, these guys are churning out shit year after year." I then realized it was an old thread. Yup, 'Gastrike' is a good album. I remember their earlier stuff had a lot of Quorthon-worship like music. 'Gastrike', however, had more black metal elements than doom.

Edit: Damn, I missed that link. 'Nifelheim' sounds very epic.

A complete album is recorded. Don't know when it will be released though.

Hopefully it'll be a bit better than Gastrike.

Gastrike was lame. They ended up sounding like so many other harsh Viking epic-ish bands.

Sounding pretty dam good guys, I am also glad to see them sounding like the earlier albums. While I find Gastrike a good album I still prefer the earlier release much more and find myself listening to them a lot more than Gastrike, they have a more unique sound to them which also stops them from becoming just another black metal band if you know what I mean. Ereb Altor are easily one of the better, epic Bathory like bands out their and lets face it there are not to many sadly playing this wonderful style. I love the clean and choir like vocals that Quorthon and these bands use. Looking forward to this release and hearing more.

I totally agree, as I think you might know, STORMM. I do appreciate the band going in a different direction, as I'm sure they don't want to stagnate in one style, but Honour and The End are both landmarks in that doomy/viking style, to me anyway.

+1

Personally for me, "Honour" is their best release thus far. I was blown away when I first heard the demo then the album, epic Bathory worship at its finest!
