Welcome to the forum for the discussion and review of tours, gigs and festivals. Whether a tour is global, or a gig is local, you're free to make a new thread about it here, and encourage discussion and comment from the users on it. Also, if you are a promoter, feel free to promote your tour, gig or festival here. This is also the place to be if you want to review a gig; by all means go for it, just do it in the thread for the tour, gig or festival OR use the catch-all thread here! It is important to distinguish, though, what this forum IS NOT: This is not a forum for the general discussion of a band, an album, or the metal scene: there is a forum for that. Likewise, if you are wanting to promote your metal band, album, or distro, there's a forum for that too!

It is IMPORTANT to note that this forum is for METAL tours, gigs and festivals, only. Non-metal discussions will be moved to The Tavern forum.

That said, we do expect that over time this forum might become quite busy, and possibly prone to getting bloated. As this situation might arise, we want to set aside some guidelines for proper thread titles. A thread title should be descriptive enough that a user of this forum will understand what the content of the thread is before they enter the thread. Your thread titles are subject to change if they are not descriptive enough - in fact, we may even end up closing the thread if that's the case. The same is true for duplicates; duplicates will be closed (so don't make them!).

VERY, VERY IMPORTANT: If a show is cancelled, make it known in the thread title! Please don't spread false rumors, though... it can seriously ruin shows.

Tours
Tours are typically multi-show events by a single band or multiple bands. In many cases, they have specific names.

We ask that when you make a thread title for a tour, you are specific about the bands in the tour or name of the tour and the date of the tour. If there are many bands, it is acceptable to limit the thread title to the main headliners of the tour. Sometimes a single band may be on tour, or have many multiple gigs in a short amount of time. We ask that if this is the case, you group together the gigs as a tour. Here is a sample, followed by an example, of a thread title for a tour:

[Name of Band(s) or Tour] - [Date(s)]
Demontage NA Tour - August 2012

Gigs
Gigs are normally single-show events held by a single band or multiple bands.

We ask that when you make a thread title for a gig, you are specific about the location of the gig, the band(s) in the gig, the date of the gig and the venue. If there are many bands, it is acceptable to limit the thread title to the main headliners of the gig. Please be somewhat serious about this, though. A gig IS NOT you and your buddies doing a band rehearsal in your basement, where the only people there are you and your dog. Here is a sample, followed by an example, of a thread title for a gig:

[Name of City] [Band(s)] - [Date] @ [Venue]
[Calgary] Anvil w/Striker - Aug. 3 2012 @ Distillery

Festivals
Festivals are usually single, named and possibly recurring events hosting many bands. The "cruise ship" metal events are usually deemed a festival, also.

We ask that when you make a thread title for a festival, you are specific about the location of the festival (this is optional if well known or not needed), the name of the festival and the date of the festival. If it's a recurring festival, it is acceptable to create multiple threads for each time of the festival (ie. Wacken 2011, Wacken 2012, etc.). Please list the bands that are in the festival in the original post, if known. Here is a sample, followed by an example, of a thread title for a festival:

[Name of City (optional)] [Name of Festival] - [Date]
[Baltimore] Maryland Deathfest (MDF XI) - May 23-26 2013

Thank you for abiding by these guidelines as close as possible. They're not perfect, and there's always exceptions. We understand this.
