I really enjoy Mortician and Last days of Humanity (edit; damn forgot the glory that is Regurgitate) from the grind perspective
and so far as actual porn-grind the 3 way austrian scat mafia split with Cum Book/Pumpgun Facefuck/Whorehouse of Nagasaki are all I've got so far but I really enjoy it, so anything that hits between all those guys would kick ass.

Bodies Lay Broken.

They only released one album (An absolute tongue-twister of a title for sure) before calling it quits. Just straight-foward, no-frills goregrind packed to the brim with samples. Should be up your alley.

I've also discovered Gruesome Malady, who play an extremely bizarre, and dissonant variant of goregrind. They probably don't use as much samples but the music itself is simply stomach churning.

Anything thing out there with the same intensity, melody, atmosphere, and conceptual cohesion of Discordance Axis?

Assuming you're looking for stuff like The Inalienable Dreamless instead of Ulterior and Jouhou...Space Grind by Psudoku, and Beast Mode by White Eyes are really the only ones that come to mind, with the latter being more TID-esque. Space Grind is really a whole other monster, and the DxAx comparisons really only come from them being "weird grindcore".

Might be a bit of a stretch, but I've always thought of Maruta as the pudgier, uglier, acne-infested little brother of The Inalienable Dreamless.

New Column of Heaven album. Holy fuck.

Anything similar to Circle of Dead Children? Hyperfast grind with crazy vocals and light to moderate death metal elements.

Can someone tell me what is with the songs that are like under a minute in grindcore. It's hard for me to get into the genre a lot because of this.

What is it with short songs? It's grindcore it's what it is! :D

Try some groovier stuff like Nasum or Rotten Sound if you are having difficulties in entering the grind realms. Exit and Helvete could prove interesting.

I just don't understand why they're so short like I just started to enjoy a song and get into it then its over. I'll look into those bands though thanks.

It descends primarily from extreme and abrasive forms of punk and it's based on a simple structure. It's intended to be a short unrelenting burst of aggression and energy, I guess it does its job well don't you think? You can also check the death/grind scene if you want some (slightly) longer songs. Lot of bands to check there though...

I don't know if this is where I should put this band, this thread or the Black Metal thread.

You guys should check out Fukpig. I checked out their songs on youtube and it's a crustier version of Anaal Nathrakh. Not surprising since the band consist of Nathrakh and Mistress band members. Surprising there isn't more people talking about this band.

Fukpig's great. As much I love Iskra and Martyrdod, I really feel they strike the perfect balance between black metal and crust.

I guess I just assumed most people knew about them. Got all their material and additionally if more people knew I might have been able to snatch it up since it's all really limited.

Compared to their first three it's a little stale yeah, but quality such as that is hard to keep up with. Martyrdod are way cool guys, too. I ran into them before a show once and we got to hang out for a little while.

Also a stretch but you might enjoy Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire. They share a similar ear for not-quite-catchy melodies at times and are certainly not lacking for intensity or atmosphere.

Any fans of Crowpath around here? Their post breakup band Tellusian is everything I love about Son of Sulphur made coherent

Yeah man, Parlamentarisk Sodomi ruled. Check out the dude's latest project, Psudoku. His album Space Grind is awesome, and unlike any other grindcore out right now (or at least from what I've heard).

The only thing I'd say it draws any comparison to would be Gigantic Brain but Psudoku focus' way more on grinding than GB.

I've never heard Psudoku (actually about to check a few things on their bandcamp) but the phrase "space grind" instantly makes me want to dig out my Netjajev SS stuff. Really oddball spaced out shit...you gotta love Magnus.

Well on a side note just threw up the newest Kamikaze Pilots ep on bandcamp.

And an update on my request to start up some side internet grind projects: nothing. I suppose everyone to contacted me to play some guitar don't have any recording equipment or riffs.

Yeah man, I hit a snag financially and still haven't picked up that interface, but I will have one in my possession on the first Friday of next month, whichever date that may be. Found a good deal on an M-Audio one that comes with a condenser mic and put it on layaway. Once I get that I'll figure out the tones I want to use and I'll definitely hit you up, because I definitely have some riffs a-cookin'!

KP stuff is rad, like it even more than the 54r stuff!

I have yet to fiddle with recording stuff direct to my comp as my mics and stuff are an hour away from me but it'll happen eventually and when it does, i'll be in touch.

Can anyone recommend me some catchy, short grind in the vein of Pig Destroyer, Gripe, and Napalm Death?

Hmmm.... you throwing PD in there makes this difficult but try Skullshitter (NY) and Nuclear Scorn (TX). Skullshitter isn't particularly short but it has a bit more death metal influence which may fit the PD qualifications and depending on what era you like, ND qualifications as well. Nuclear Scorn leans more towards ND's early works. For just generally short and super catchy stuff check out Hummingbird of Death... their Diagnosis: Delicious 7", Goatmeal 5", and split with I Accuse! especially.

Why?

From the mini review on their bandcamp page... "on par with genre heavyweights Rotten Sound, Nasum, and Napalm Death."

No grind band should want to sound anything like the modern incarnations of those 3 bands... at all. This sounds like run of the mill "relapse" grind... boring riffs, mediocre and painfully typical vocals, annoying as shit guitar tone and overly slick production removing all feelings of aggression and uniqueness... honestly this could just be Human 2.0.1

And the album art is fucking terrible... not the concept, as I could see it looking cool/humorous in my head... but the execution. A boring cover to a boring album... how fitting.

The fact that willowtip put it out should give you a good idea of what to expect

Looking for grind releases with songs at least 3 minutes long. I would also like to not have any porn/gore/weirdshit lyrics/imagery. Cattle Decap, and Misery Index are good examples.

I was pretty let down by that Afgrund album as well. Pretty disappointing effort overall, especially compared to recent efforts from Gridlink, Death Toll 80K and Wormrot.

That DT80k album is ridiculously good. A great example of how grindcore should be done... or at least one approach. Six Brew Bantha's newest LP is another great example but with a slightly different approach.

For straight up grindcore you'll be hard-pressed to find songs exceeding 3 minutes regularly but based on the bands you mentioned it seems you're more interested in death/grind so... stuff like Haemorrhage, Exhumed, Dead Infection, Assuck, and General Surgery. Parlamentarisk Sodomi does have a 10 minute long grind epic that is linked higher up on this page if memory serves.

Yeah, I listened to like 6 seconds of one of the new Afgrund songs. Immediately sounded like Nasum, so I turned it off and went back to listening to...something else. I mean, if you're into Nasum/RS, go for it. But I personally throw up in my mouth a little bit every time I hear something that sounds like a typical Nasum song.

Speaking of DT80K, are there any plans of them recording new stuff? I don't think I've heard anything post-Harsh Realities...
