I'm a review newbie so this is a good chance to get some good practice in.

I'll find plenty of others. I haven't really scouted much, I just downloaded everything.

So does anyone else think this feels like Christmas Eve? After watching two hours of Thomas and Friends with my son, I'm ready to dig into some unreviewed gems!

-Make clear in your reviews that they're for the challenge, a notice somewhere would do the job.
-Again: Quality OVER quantity, please don't flood the place, we'll get crazy and shit.

And just to clarify, we mods actually can edit reviews, so if just start off with a line saying it's for the challenge, we'll take note of it and edit it out so it doesn't stand out on the site.

Uh, for people who have the option to auto-submit/auto-publish (not my concern), how are you going to go about editing the reviews?

We can edit EVERY review EVER. Worry about the quality of your reviews, don't worry about us.

We'll count all virgin reviews, even if the writer doesn't know. Add lines or warning about the challenge if you wish.

I'm going to be at work for another five hours, but when I get out I'll manhandle the reviews currently enlisted. Do not fear if your review isn't accepted for a few hours....we'll do our best!

Stop putting in those silly "for the review challenge" lines. They have never been in use before, and we don't need them now. The system allows the organizer to go through all the daily submissions after they have been approved, and tally the results that way. As it has always been done before that nifty application that is no longer there.

Scroll up, Metantoine explicitly told us to put them in.

On a side note, the Cauldron review I submitted today wasn't written during this period, so even though it's the first review for that particular album it shouldn't be accounted for the challenge's purposes. I had it written for something like two months and was just waiting for the album to be released to cross-post it.

Well, in my opinion, since someone has to go through the recent reviews list anyway, everybody will not remember to put them in no matter what, and we've always counted the submissions that were not explicitly meant as challenge submissions and those will naturally not include the said sentence, those serve no purpose. Add to that the fact that the queue is managed by several mods at the same time, and they are actually just a hassle. They just mean the mod needs to edit the review.

If someone can point out a flaw in my reasoning, I'll admit I'm wrong, of course.

No, Nappy is right. As I said, add lines about the review challenge if you wish, but it won't matter because your submissions will be counted regardless.

I'll have to denote when I review something that isn't for the challenge, then.

I'll take blame in that I wasn't entirely sure how the stuff would be tallied nowadays since Sean16 and sisters_of_merciless aren't around anymore, so without actually asking anybody who'd worked the old challenges, I just piggybacked on to what was laid down by Metantoine. Lack of communication on that one, I'll take the forty lashes.

WTF, I was busy today and I come back to this. I actually liked my idea, but eh, whatever...

I'm getting started a bit later than I normally do and I will probably not be contributing to massive an amount of reviews, but I do have a number of thrash metal albums that I've been meaning to get to that haven't been touched yet on here, so I'll see what I can come up with, already knocked down one for Eliminator.

Well if it's done automatically then that means it's literally just needless busywork for the mods. I assumed we didn't have the same resources as before, Nappy has clarified that indeed we do, ergo making the line superfluous.

Nap always said he was getting busy with life, so if he's active, it makes what, 4 review mods. Deleting a line takes like 5 seconds, but ok.

Shit, well looks like my first review challenge won't be a very productive one. Turns out this week I have 3 midterms, two essays to do and two books I have to read. I just submitted a review and I probably will only get one a day (possibly even less) from now until Thursday. After that I'm basically going to spend four or five hours a day trying to crank out some reviews.

I have +100 pages of combined reading for school on Wednesday so I'll be off to a late start.

I'm not saying it's a lot of work, but I still can't see what the point is. There's a line, you delete it... and then? Someone still needs to count them manually afterwards, unless you've decided to change the tallying system and only accept reviews written for the purpose. In which case every mod approving anything must keep personal score of the particular reviews and then we'll combine the scores. Which seems like a bad idea, compared to someone actually counting them after the day's reviews are processed.

Having people do something that serves no obvious purpose seems like a redundant thing, that's all.

Alright, I've gone through a lot of reviews today, but I'll be working all day tomorrow. When I get out, I'll hammer away once more, but that'll probably be tomorrow afternoon or night.

And another thing... I don't want to piss in anyone's morning cereal, but I need to point out that there are still 63 reviews in the queue from the time before the challenge started. Now, this is the first review challenge using the new V2, and unfortunately the system gives the reviews a time stamp upon approval, not upon submission like the old system did. Unless no-one touches those works for a week, and the same someone makes sure everything is approved exactly when the challenge time ends, the score will be screwed a bit.

And no, I'm not going to be very active during the week. I'll be out on business trips for three late evenings, and I have a construction site to manage 8 meters from where I sit, so I'll have to settle for complaining this time.

At the end of the challenge, I'd like everyone to post what they reviewed here, I think it will be fine like this, of course, honesty would be primordial. I'll be a bit busy too so...

For fuck's sake... I'll count the tally in the end of the week, if no-one else wants to do it.

Make a list of the older reviews you approve instead. Much more useful, and shorter.
