Just listened to manilla road - atlantis rising. It was enjoyable for background music to playing this extremely difficult doom WAD. game.
Listened to manilla road - the circus maximus next. Man, that was so bad, I just had to turn it off. the vocals are just so corny! I only got to song 2. Hey, at least I finally gave manilla road an honest chance. I'll probably out some other albums to see if their other stuff is more tasteful.

Now playing - Acid Witch - Witchtanic hellucinations

Now this, I can enjoy.

Well, you didn't even listen to a Manilla Road album with "The Circus Maximus". That was intended to be a new side-project of Mark Shelton, but he got played by the label.

But for a progressive heavy metal album with glam influences, "The Circus Maximus" kicks supreme ass.

If you want a real Manilla Road album, check out The Deluge or Open The Gates.

Wintersun - Sons of Winter and Stars

A bit over-ambitious for my taste but not bad. I'm really not a fan of this band but I find this to be pretty decent overall. Not worth the 8 years wait however.

Neurosis - Distill (Watching The Swarm)

I should listen to 'Given to the Rising' more often, this album rules.

Angel Dust - Enjoy, off Enlighten the Darkness

I love this song, but for some reason, the verse riff always makes me think of wrestling music.

Cormorant - Metazoa (listening to for the second time through).

Sometimes aggressive vocals sound a little out of place on top of the mellow parts. I guess it kind of reminds me of skeletonwitch's newest album (the green cover one) in how it blends black metal with melodic thrash. It's kind of the same here, but I think it got a little over ambitious. Enjoyable nonetheless. the bass reminds me of exivious.

Van Canto - A Storm to Come

The last minute and a half is nothing short of glorious.

Great song. Actually that entire album is great!

I'm currently listening to Iron Bird - Metsanvaltias
It basically sounds like bastardized Bathory and Falkenbach with traces of Manowar and Virgin Steele. Odd combo to say the least.

This is a great one. If The Faceless go in the direction of Autotheism from now on, Planetary Duality will be their last good album. Also the opener "Prison Born" reminds me of War Of The Worlds. :P

Beyond Terror Beyond Grace - Nadir

Yeah, this is still excellent. Dissonant death metal with lots of drum fills. Got to be in my top 5 or more this year.

One of my favorite tunes on that album along with "The One You Are."

Wintersun - Land of Snow and Sorrow

Actually a little better than I thought it would be, and better than the corny kiddie-metal of the first album too. Not great but...not bad.

My favorite Ripper-era Priest song.

Drottnar - Welterwerk

Cold, sterile, dissonant black metal that's really unlike any other. So stoked for their new album.

Anaal Nathrakh - Passion

Still not as good as their previous 3, but it's alright. "Tob Heutet Uebel" is such a mood-breaker with those vocals. I know Vanitas will be better and I look forward to buying it.

Continuo Renacer - The Great Escape

Great tech-proggy instrumental album. The bass is loud and clear and sounds really awesome. All tracks are perfectly executed and it's great to hear these guys back on the scene after years of silence.

If anyone knows where I can get their debut self-titled, I hope you'll let me know!

The Gathering-Her last flight.

Not bad I guess. Probably would've enjoyed this more back when I first discovered stuff in the vein of Moonspell.

Gorgoroth - Ritual

I'm on a fairly pronounced black-metal kick at the moment; Re-visiting the album which I first got into the genre with just now, and I'm able to "hear" so much more of what's going on in it now.

Fucking LOVE these guys. It just doesn't get any better as far as power metal goes, in my opinion.
