Enslaved - Death in the Eyes of Dawn

RIITIIR is quickly making it's way to the top of my favorite albums of this year. These guys just never stop progressing. Great guitar work in this song in particular.

Have you listened to the song Mayday? Because damn, Midnight just sounds like a fuckin' eagle on that track.

I'm listening to that song right now and you're right. holy fuck does this sounds good. The riffs recall early-mid 80's Judas Priest while the vocals are something that really can't compared to anyone else.

I know what I'll try to cover vocally for the upcomming days.

Mayday must contain one of the most extreme performances ever given by Midnight, so good luck with that Colin. You're gonna need it, dude!

Paragon - Blades of Hell, off Force of Destruction

This is just one of those bands that scream "METAL!!!" at the top of their lungs and turn you into human gravy with guitars so sharp that they make katanas look as blunt as a hunk of cheese by comparison.

rippikoulu - *whatever the hell this album is called*

Edit: It's a demo, not an album. My mistake.

Good stuff. After this i'll probably listen to sacramentum's far away from the sun, or vinterland welcome my last chapter, again. I can't get bored with vinterland welcome my last chapter.

Okay, that was kind of a lie. I was fully aware that it was on repeat the whole time, but I liked it so much that I didn't bother playing something else.

Now playing Master's Hammer "Ritual". Not gonna bother typing the name of the song, I'm sure I'd typo it.

I'm puzzled as to why people enjoy Vinterland. Such run-of-the-mill tripe. It's not technically bad, but the sheer lack of inspiration bothers and irritates me.

I'm no music critic, I think vinterland has very creative melancholic songwriting. I can't really imagine why you would dislike it.

I try not to pay attention to why most other people enjoy it. If I see something has a lot of positive reviews, it's usually a good sign I should check out the album. However, I don't see why I should read a positive review when it's just going to say how the album is really good when I can just figure out for myself. Not that I have a problem with people who review albums positively. I mostly check out negative reviews for lols every now and then. I think it's sort of an interesting dilemma; do reviews and high esteem of an album influence the way others think of it? It's hard to say really. I think there's got to be at least a couple albums I've enjoyed that received negative reviews.

Just listened: Death in June - The World That Summer
This album kind of pisses me off due to there being some extremely good tracks mixed with rather horrible ones. Five excellent tracks and then the rest are various levels of unlistenable for me...

Now playing: Death in June - Rose Clouds of Holocaust

Musta Seremonia man, Musta Seremonia! :-D And it's a demo not an album.

It's not really rocket science. It's a one off band playing Swedish black metal of the melodic variant with a highly melancholic factor. I can certainly understand why people may dislike it though, but I guess the reasons behind that dislike are probably the ones people who enjoy it praise as positive aspects.

Neurosis - Honour Found In Decay

The more I listen to this the more accustomed I get to the feeling that the people behind Neurosis are no longer angry, but instead intend on presenting melancholy through different angles. And as funny as it may be this album ends up being a great one because of the laid back and relaxed atmosphere. I find myself playing it every day at night when I'm just alone at the keyboard and want a bit of inner calm. Strange to get that from a Neurosis album, strange indeed!

Immolation - Here in After

It's Immolation, so therefore it can't be bad. A little muddier than other releases, but it works in their favour as it gives the album a thick, brooding feel to it, all the while keeping the same great death metal Immolation are known for.

Disma - Towards the Megalith

Listening to this thing as I generally do periodically. I get what people mean when they say no track really stands out. I think it's still really good. My favorite part is in spectral domination when it gets to the lyrics "drink and touch the spirit.. writhe before the golden bow." I decided to hear what theneedledrop said about and stuff and that's where I heard the "no track really stands out" thing.

I've listened to this album countless times, but never really payed too much attention to the lyrics. I listened to the first two songs, while reading the lyrics. Around the 3rd song, I kind of felt like reading the lyrics was getting boring. The lyrics are badass, don't get me wrong. They're just kind of there for the sake of being there. Kind of just lyrics that are there to not really make a point, but rather paint a picture and build an atmosphere of what to visualize when you're listening to the album. Which isn't wrong! It's cool, but I feel like I can get enough of the atmosphere from the music itself without reading the lyrics. For me, listening to it goes smoother if I just listen to it and not give it too much thought of what the cookie monster behind the mic is actually saying.

Anyways, this is one of my favorite death metal records.
