http://www.earsplitcompound.com/site/20 ... uary-2013/

So, the new Defeated Sanity will be released in the beginning of next year, anyone else excited about this?

Chapters of Repugnance was/is an awesome album, and probably my favorite BDM album ever. I did get a little skeptic when I learned that A.J. Magana isn't their leadsinger anymore, his vocals was one of the reasons I loved Chapters so much, but at least he's doing some guest vocals on the new album.

I'm hoping for something in the vein of Chapters, jazzy interludes, brutal as fuck slams and those insane drums!

What are your expectations? Discuss!

EDIT: Album trailer's up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFNVM8VhLuE

Great news. I myself has generally been partial to Psalms..., but just recently revisited Chapters... again and it's a beast.

Love Psalms & Chapters. I'm pretty positive that this is gonna be a great release. I'm worried that it is only nine tracks tho, seems short?

Sick artwork too!

Great to hear this! I'm very excited.

In this interview they said the upcoming album can be recognized as Defeated Sanity but it will be groovier.
Btw the vocalist who performs live is the one who did vocals on the album. He's pretty decent for this is a live performace, i presume he wont fuck up the album.

"The album has a more old-school vibe to it, with a lot of early ‘90s inspired riffs and slams, but we made it a point to not get away from the technical and progressive stuff as well."

As if "new Defeated Sanity" wasn't enough to get me on board, this makes the mouth water a bit more.

Looking forward to it as well, I've warmed up to Chapters of repugnance over the last two years.

Indeed. Thankfully they're a technical death metal band that values the latter portion of that genre description at least as much as, if not more than, the former.

I'm still not crazy about Chapters, but Psalms is brutal and I'll definitely be giving this a shot.

I just want to hear it now. When I saw the title of this thread I felt suspended in time for a few seconds.

This is great news. One of the best modern death metal bands around.

Chapters of Repugnance is currently the only album from Defeated Sanity that I can listen to. I didn't like the vocals from earlier, and they've changed vocalist again. I think this one will have to be a download first before I blindly buy.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

Fucking sick cover art, though.

Yeah, pretty cool artwork! As for the album only having 9 tracks, so did Chapters and Psalms.. hell, Prelude to the Tragedy only had 8 tracks on it.

I wonder if by "old school 90s riffing" they mean the Considered Dead/Erosion of Sanity styled stuff they did on Prelude to the Tragedy...that would be tasty.

I think they're talking about stuff more in the Suffocation/Pyrexia/Internal Bleeding vein.

Hell yeah I'm excited about this! There's no other brutal slam-death I like more than Defeated Sanity. In fact, they're my foremost favorite in all brutal-slam-death-blah-blah-blah followed by 7. H. Target. I don't know why in the genre of slam death there hasn't been many albums that really grasped my attention. Therefore Defeated sanity's new album has high expectation in my book. Their last two albums were an awesome and unique experience for me, kind of like a gateway to the slam-death genre as whole.

Just watched that album preview trailor. Damn, look at that guy's fingers crawl up and down that instrument like a deranged spider! Sick!

They made slam metal in the 90s?

i actually hung out with Defeated Sanity guitarist Lille Gruber at his apartment in Berlin last year and he played me a bunch of demo chunks he was working on. i can tell you that it will be quality death metal through & through. this guy sits there playing guitar like 14 hours a day, and he's totally friendly & on the level. not to get spammy, but i did a pretty good interview with him. you can download the PDF free here. it's in the berlin chapter -- http://www.metalunderground.com/news/de ... wsid=78079

Well break down-heavy bands like early Suffocation, Pyrexia, Internal Bleeding and such can be if nothing else be called front runners for slam, maybe even proto-slam in some instances...

You're thinking of Christian Kuhn. Lille Gruber is the drummer.

Lille Gruber does play guitar as well. His dad, Wolfgang Teske (who was in Defeated Sanity until 2008), is a very skilled Jazz guitarist and I wouldn't doubt that he passed his talent on to his son.

Psalms and Chapters are both 9 tracks long though and are about an hour in total (Psalms - 29 minutes, Chapters - 31 minutes) so the fact it might be on the short side is a bit of an odd thing to be concerned about.

New song, "Verblendung."

Getting a good '90s vibe from this. An album of songs like these definitely warrants a purchase.

That wasn't bad but it got really grating after a while. I'm probably just not in the mood so I'll give it another listen tomorrow or something.
