The artwork is fucking killer.
I loved Swarth, I can't wait to hear this one. Hopefully they'll tour in Melbourne soon after I can actually get into their damn shows.

Looking forward.

Don't know whether if it's intended or not, but the bug right underneath the central brain-like thing looks quite oddly like this:

Definitely looking forward to this. I'm still digesting their last two, as it seems I always hear different sounds/notes in the midst of the sonic maelstrom.

I don't like the cover art or the album title, but fuck it. Portal are one of my favourite bands, and Outre' and Swarth both have a spot in my top 10 albums of all time. I'm sure this will be just as stellar.

I wish my washing machine sounded like Portal.

Along with the upcoming Antediluvian and Mitochondrion (?) 2013 is looking to be a great year for fucked up death metal.

Really insane artwork, I look forward to it. I will definitely give it a listen, although it will depend if I'm in the mood for this band at that time lol.

Musically they are excellent, but every time I watch a live shot of them I can't over the fact that the vocalist wears a giant birdhouse on his head.

i heard this band created much of this album under sleep deprivation any truth to that? sounds like something portal would do

this thread got me listening to swarth again i forgot how perfect that album is

and singer no longer wears the birdhouse he went through an evil pope phase which was disturbing because you could not see his eyes and then something even more creepy which i am unsure how to describe

apparently you haven't been watching anything of recent. since swarth he has adopted the black priest look. Each album was a different motif or character so to speak. the first was the witch with the giant pointed hat, and then the grandfather clock figure, and most recently the black priest. So I'm curious what this will be. I figure it'd be something insect like..

The Cthulhu getup isn't anywhere near as ridiculous as the clock helmet.

Another Portal thread. Another bunch of people talking about costumes.

It's the music that matters, and the music is the farken real deal.

the music is some of the best i have heard in my life but without the costumes portal would not be the beast they are now, live anyways their on stage presence wouldnt be as nearly strong if not for the costumes but the music is way more important

so excited for this album i have to wait way too long for it to come out i am hoping the production is very similar to the production of swarth that is pretty much the perfect production for them imo

I wasn't sure that I liked the artwork at first, but that's pretty much how I feel when I listen to bands like Portal. There's something visually taht doesn't fit for me, but as a concept, it's pretty much perfect.

Love Portal, "Outre" is one of favourite albums period, I'll definitely be getting this one.

I actually posted that cover in the FFA thread a few days before it was official, asking if it was fan made. So my first impression was for it to look better. Than being said, I'm sure the cover will grow on me like Outre has. I want to contain my excitement until I hear a cut off the album, so I can determine what the production will be and what if any stylistic changes are in store. I don't imagine they'll be a huge shift in sound considering the previous three have been mostly similar. I think they'll retain the production of Swarth and build upon the sound in various symphonic ways.

I hope the production is along the lines of swarth or Seepia, I seem to be the only one who loves portal but really thought Outre was really shitty sounding. It's like they don't even have drums on it. but the one before and after... excellent.

Out of curiosity, what do you think is wrong with the production on Outre'? It sounds absolutely massive to me.

EDIT: Oh wait, lack of drums, gotcha. Can't read, hurr. I think the lack of percussion works to the album's advantage, but whatever, to each his own.

Well the quiet drums worked well i think. That is hellish dark ambient album.

I'm very percussive based I guess you can say. I really don't like anything that lacks drums where I think it would sound far better with them. And I really don't like ambient anything, I don't even care for it as background music to doing something cause it doesn't even register to me.

This is also one of the reasons I don't care for Sunn0))), but that's another time/band.
