No, I was extremely lucky. I mean, it was kind of amazing. I didn't even fracture a bone. I mean, my fingers blew up, but there was absolutely no damage to the bone, besides the little bit they had to chop off at the hospital because the skin wouldn't fit over my ring finger. What's funny is that I'm even better at guitar now than I was before. I'll take a picture of them now sometime and post it up here.

It looks like your fingertips got de-gloved? I had that happen to one of my fingers and it was booty. Did you get grafts or were they able to just use your fingers' own skin? Or did you not lose that many layers to need a graft?

I think I was drunk here.

They just stitched the skin back together on my middle and ring fingers. My ring finger had lost a little bit too much skin, so they cut about a 1/16th of an inch off the bone and just stretched the skin back over. My fingers had actually just blown up, they stitched the skin back over and let it all grow back on it's own. I did lose most of the flesh.

Burnyoursins ouch man! I used to be a sheet metal worker (doing exactly what you do by the looks of it - industrial air conditioning ducting?). I myself have lost about 10mm (approx 3/8") of my right thumb to a 2.4m folder. The blade came down trapped my thumb between it and the ram, and stripped the flesh and fingernail off my thumb, exposing the tip my thumb bone. Pretty fuckin' painful...

Are you guys allowed to wear gloves/loose clothing in workshops? over here I'm pretty sure it's a big no no.

Gloves are sometimes a necessity to stop your hands being cut to ribbons (guillotined/plasma cut metal edges can be VERY sharp), and loose clothing is not a good idea around rollers and the like.

Plasma cutters are wicked and yeah fair enough I hadn't thought about that [sharp edges, swarf etc]

Commercial A/C ducting, but yeah, you've got the idea, haha. We're a Union shop, so gloves are a must, safety rules and all that. They're tight-fitting, though. Apparently you shouldn't be wearing gloves on the power roll, but I didn't know it at the time, because the guy who trained me failed to let me in on that little secret, haha. Wasn't his fault though, just bad luck. Ironic how incredibly lucky I actually was to have only gotten away with what I did. It could have, and probably should have been much, much worse. Once you see the flesh on your ring finger pushed off to the side, and the entire bone exposed on your finger, you start to take things a little slower. *laughs* I still remember it to this day, very vividly.

As a side note, I worked in a non-Union shop for a little while where they felt they didn't need gloves. I tried it for about a week. And I'll tell you now, I could barely feel anything with my hands after that. *laughs* They were totally shredded, every inch of 'em. I swear by gloves in the sheet metal trade. This was also a shop where nobody except for me used safety glasses or ear plugs, too. So.. I got the hell outta there pretty quickly. *laughs*
