I'm wondering who Alex brought along to play live.

Nagelfar should just reform so the members could play with Alex and do a 4 hours double headliners show!

If we've got Nagelfar together we only need two people to get Verdunkeln and Graupel as well.

Better still, have Aran and Whyrhd from Lunar Aurora join in to fill in the guitar and bass spots and have like 6 hours of Nagelfar, Lunar Aurora, and The Ruins of Beverast with the lineup being:
Alex: drums/vocals
Zorn (Nagelfar guitarist): guitar
Zingultus or Jander (Nagelfar vocalists): vocals
Aran: guitar
Whyrhd: bass/vocals

That's all three of the best German black metal acts at once.

Why not both? And also add Truppensturm so everyone doesn't have to play all night.

And instead of circle pits we circle jerk. :wanker:

A six hour show (non-festival) would probably end up being a lot less fun than one would think...

Stupid question, but what makes a festival distinct from a show?

^longer, many more bands than could play in a night, maybe more than one stage, multiple days .. maybe a couple beer tents, a water vending tent, or vegan Mexican food tents and a food truck. That's all I got. Haven't been to one in a looooong time, so maybe there are psychological counseling tents, virtual reality social networking tents, and corporate middle management training seminar tents by now. Who knows.

If you can drink continuously for its duration and make it home, it's a show.

So uhm, this was submitted to MA today.

Here's a Sepultura cover:

...and here's an original that has a... pan flute breakdown?

Festival usually has a shit-ton of bands and a lot more to do than just listen to the bands that are playing. A normal gig where you go to see the bands play and that's about it would probably be exhausting if it were 6+ hours. Unless you're an absolute dick-riding fanboy of the bands on the bill.

Here we call everything with a number of bands a festival, except when there's only a headliner and one or two support acts.

a .. pan flute breakdown? Was it Azmodes who wrote "there's a constellation of words I'd never hoped to hear"? or something close. It was about something else, but it stuck with me.

If there's more than one stage, it's definitely a festival. There are one stage festivals aswell, of course.

...and if it takes place every year then it's definitely a festival as opposed to simply a "show". Just going by the definition of what a festival is :)

Damn, that pan flute thingamajig is really...wait did they actually think that covering a shitty Sepultura song would make it fun or cooler? I think as a stand alone music piece it has the potential to be somewhat interesting but this wasn't my cup of tea.

Yeah, it's rare for shows to be annual or anything. I guess there can be such a thing.

Something weird happened to me the other night. I was surfing the internet on a friend's laptop, and I typed in metal (Assuming metal archives would just come up) and hit enter. I ended up on a blog that I had made about six years ago and completely forgotten about. This is also long before I knew this guy. Blew my mind a bit.

Cool, I met someone who ran I blog I was fond of out of the blue at a festival in Los Angeles once.

I actually rather enjoyed that song. It was quirky as hell but it worked surprisingly well.

In an effort to investigate "that band which ends in "Steel", I've just hit myself with the realisation that Agent Steel and Virgin Steele are different bands; Someone from the metalhead licensing agency will probably be 'round to confiscate my vinyl, and all denim items fairly promptly.

Well, condolences, man. At least you had a grandmother you cared about and who cared about you. Can't say I really had much connection with any of my dead relatives, other than an aunt-by-marriage but that was years ago. Good thing you had a lot of nice time in your life with her. Hopefully you can teach the little metalhead some of the things you learned from her .. help it live on. :) Nice to have a loving family, for sure.

Man, I've listened to it about 1000 times over the last year or so, but Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is still SO GOOD.

Well, thanks. These are hard times indeed for my family since we are all really close. The little kid will sure enjoy living life as she taught me to, even if he doesn't remember her at all.
It still sucks to see someone you care about suffer so much.
I just hope no more relatives die any time soon as my funeral mood is now in a really bad state.

I have reached the conclusion that the Westboro Baptists go about their business picketing and demonstrating just to see the counter-demonstrators sharing tons of hot voluntary gay kisses. It's not religion, it's voyeurism.

It's like some sort of tailgating for them. Such a waste of time, energy, and resources.

"should we do something helpful this weekend and work in a soup kitchen?"
"Naw, let's go call some dead people 'fags' bring the cooler with some buds!"
