Edited the review to reflect that, thank you.

I am almost certainly not going to write on that day - it's a day to be having a good time and drinking in the sun and whatnot.

Did 12 today, not sure I want to do that again. At 30 now.

Please include the 1st too. I'm too drowned in work to write a damn thing right now but I'll try to get more done to that day. Still, I don't think I'll be able to write 30 or more reviews.

I just knocked off a couple of retro-thrash albums that I've been meaning to hit for the past couple months and will probably hit the new Havok at some point either tomorrow night or soon after. I wouldn't be opposed to extending the challenge for an extra day if everyone else wants to, I've been fairly busy myself and wouldn't mind a little extension. But I'm happy with what I've contributed either way.

37 reviews done and three days to go, yeesh. I think I'm going to take a break from music in general after this is over.

43 down and I don't think I'll do much more. Definitely agree with taking a break, not from music, just from metal. We need some time apart.

Eh, oh well. You, me and dystopia4 alone have tackled over 100 albums combined so far, and with all the other participants added in we've probably done maybe 150. Not bad at all for four days' worth of effort. :)

I'll do what I want!

Actually I just don't have anything for the challenge as I said - and no time to digest something new quick enough to write a good review for it. ;)

Wow, me being as slow as I am for some reason thought that the review challenge was over tomorrow instead of the day after. :durr: :oh shit:

I'm done with submitting 10+ a day, both because I don't really feel like doing it and I'm going to be busier than I was earlier this week. Since there's more time than I thought, I think I'll try to push for 50ish.

I just submitted a few. I thought I'd have more time to write when I was at the beach, but I only had the morning before everyone else was awake! Oh well, maybe I'll try to do another one or two.

Edit: Holy shit... you guys are nuts. I couldn't imagine doing anywhere near that amount in one week. Great work, everyone.

Wow, Hells actually got one of the ones I was potentially planning on doing (The End of World by Mudra). Probably won't now, because he's said everything there is to say. They're surprisingly very good for a South American rethrash band with few original ideas.

Numbers five and six are in the can, hopefully I can write a seventh and submit it by the end of tomorrow along with the other ones. Working all goddamn day and having my dog run away yesterday (he's been found and safe, thank Satan) have put a damper on what I wanted to do, but that's life. Hopefully I can chug out at least one more by week's end.

The challenge ends july 1st at midnight, my time I guess. Is that good for everyone?

Number nine is being written right now!

Just so I'm clear, is that midnight going to occur in 12 hours or 36 hours? I just want to make sure I have my schedule together for the rest of today. I've almost reviewed everything that I have for this go around. :)

Damn, wish I'd found out about this sooner, but I rarely go in the Review Discussion forum, I might try to bang out a few reviews by the end of tomorrow though, I've been meaning to review more and get practice.

The review I've wanted to do the most is sort of done (I'll just give it a bit of a rest and do corrections later), I think I'll do the two other ones tomorrow. I also considered a fourth one but I need more listens of the album so I decided it's pointless to rush it, quality > quantity.

But some of you guys are quite amazing with these numbers of reviews. :o

Might take advantage of the timezones and sneak out a few more before it's midnight elsewhere..

Wish I'd done a few more but an impromptu and extremely fun road trip happened. I like writing reviews, I'd rather be on the south coast surfing uncrowded waves :)

I've managed to churn out 21 reviews this time around, though only 18 if we discount the stuff that came out this week. I might be able to sneak in 1 or 2 more, but at this juncture I'm happy with what I've accomplished. It looks like dystopia4, iamtehbatman and a couple others here have gotten themselves into the old spirit of mass reviewing that a few of us were into a couple years back. Hopefully you guys didn't burn yourselves out the way I did the last time I tried to break into triple digits.

Meh, ended up with just two, but I'm pretty happy about them. I hope I'm more lucky with timing when the next challenge comes around :P

15 reviews this week, 13 of them for virgin albums. Didn't get to a few that I wanted to do, though I may be able to get a few more done quickly because I'm writing about albums that I know very well and have been thinking about these few reviews for a while now.

I should also finish reviewing Nasum's early discography, there's one more that I know and the six-way split/comp from which I haven't heard any of the other bands, so I don't think I'll review that one now.

I just did a good chunk of the review queue. I'm going to grab a bite to eat, submit the review I just wrote, and hopefully finish up the remaining virgins lurking the queue.

So, I'm assuming this ends at midnight EST? 40 minutes left! Just published my 17th for the week and 15th virgin.

I'll try to clear the review queue, but I haven't been up to the task for a few days.

edit: +1 to that count because I forgot about one that I saved as a draft a few days ago.

I just wrapped up my last review as well. I somehow managed to pound out 8 today when I was generally averaging 2 or 3 throughout most of the week. If we're only counting albums not released this week, that makes 24 for me, and if the others that happened to come out this week count, it'll be 28. Either way, I had a good time and was happy to contribute to what will surely be a better collective score than the last challenge.

Here's my list of reviews from this week. There are three more that I would've done if I had a few more hours today, but I'd rather do the releases justice than try to rush the reviews for the challenge.

Tysondog Beware of the Dog Killer heavy metal from the first riff. 97% July 1st, 2013 approved
Nasum Religion Is War / The Black Illusions The onset of their most distinct form 84% July 1st, 2013 approved
Nasum World in Turmoil The first release of the core duo 75% July 1st, 2013 approved
Nasum Smile When You're Dead / Fuego y Azufre! Nasum split with some shitty band 50% July 1st, 2013 approved
Nasum Industrislaven Grind and groovegrind 78% July 1st, 2013 approved
Nasum Domedagen Rough and diverse deathgrind 80% July 1st, 2013 approved
*Nasum / Retaliation / Clotted Symmetric Sexual Organ / Vivisection Grindwork Concise, as grindcore should be. 90% July 1st, 2013 approved
*Nasum / Agathocles Blind World / Who Shares the Guilt? Nasum forever, AG never! 50% July 1st, 2013 approved
Bhaobhan Sidhe The New Order Incomprehensible dark ambient 0% June 28th, 2013 approved
Shok Paris Steel and Starlight Balls of steel reflecting the starlight! 100% June 26th, 2013 approved
Angel Reaper Exhumált világ The logical next step and last step 57% June 25th, 2013 approved
Angel Reaper A végzet utolér Shows unrealized potential and sinister intentions 72% June 25th, 2013 approved
Arkha Sva / Drowning the Light In His Name Falls short on the atmosphere. 70% June 25th, 2013 approved
Angel Reaper Demo I Doesn't rip hard enough, Angels are soft. 52% June 25th, 2013 approved
The Kris Norris Projekt Icons of the Illogical An interesting blend of ideas and styles 87% June 24th, 2013 approved
Ebony Tears Tortura Insomniae A rough cut of melodic death metal and violins 70% June 24th, 2013 approved
Ebony Tears Evil as Hell What the hell happened? 40% June 24th, 2013 approved
Ebony Tears A Handful of Nothing One of the lost treasures of melodeath 95% June 24th, 2013

*Previously reviewed by another user

I'm really glad to see a lot of people motivated to review this week, and hopefully some of the inactive folks like myself have gotten back into the swing of things from this. Haven't had a chance to read many other than what I approved, but I've seen some good work from iamntbatman and dystopia4 (especially that Tysondog review, because I love the band). I'll hit the queue now and finish the other reviews I was working on soon.

yeah, I wasn't sure how much we were going to get here, wasn't expecting much participation. Looks like a buncha dudes put a lot of effort in though and we should give at least 200 a nudge :) Did 7 personally which I'm fairly happy with.

OK, I think everything eligible for this challenge has been approved. Thankfully nobody submitted crap for virgin albums that had to be rejected, seems like all the crappy reviewers continued to stick with stuff that has already been reviewed. Can't bring myself to grind through that crap all the time, I'd rather be writing my own reviews rather than reading some newbie's half-baked opinions on classic albums that are older than them and are being recalled primarily through Wikipedia articles and Rolling Stone retrospectives. Must seem easy to cut your teeth on something that someone else has already digested for you.

Aside from that complaining, great turnout for this challenge, seems like a lot of quality too.
