Chile is known for its excellent wine and it's ridiculously cheap. A bottle of wine for 'export' costs around $4 and some very fine bottles $5, $6 (when in, for example, USA are sold about $35-$40) Now Chile has tons of 'traditional' beer - at least 30 brands, each with 3-5 types to offer. The Oktoberfest and other Beerfests has gotten fairly massive and now in supermarkets you can choose among 30-40 different beers to go.

Some of my fav:

Kunstmann 'Gran Torobayo'.

Kross 5

Szot '1000 days'

edit: this should be posted on the beer thread, right?

No. You love Pabst and you know it.

In first year university it was the only beer the school store sold and it was cheap. After having bought about a dozen twelve packs I was drinking in the dorm with some friends and we were like why the hell are we drinking this crap? We made a pact to never buy it again and I've made good on that so far. Honestly I'd rather have a coors light or even a bud light lime and that's saying a lot.

Went canoeing on the canal today, good way to spend an afternoon.

There is a town in Colorado that is considering passing an ordinance authorizing "drone hunting season." Much like duck-hunting or deer-hunting season, it would allow for the town to grant hunting permits specifically for the purpose of shooting down drones. Unlike duck or deer hunting, the town would grant bounties to anyone who recovers the parts of the drone which survive. The permits are limited to 12-gauge shotguns or weaker and you can only fire on drones lower than 1,000 feet. Anyone who mistakes a remote-controlled toy airplane for a drone will be required to compensate the owner for the damaged toy, unless the craft was over the shooter's private property.

The permit is not limited to town residents; anyone who is allowed to own and shoot firearms in Colorado would be allowed to get a permit.

The county where Jack Daniels is made is a dry county, I went and toured the distillery there and you seriously can't have sample or pick something up (unless it's non-alcoholic) you have to leave the county. Also the town where I grew up is completely dry on Sundays and dry after something like 9pm on weekdays unless you're at a restaurant, yeah we don't have bars there.

I'm no moderator but yes, yes it should be posted there.

Can anyone think of any gross/offensive cover artwork where the music contained is actually good? I'd like to be proven wrong that it's just for gurgling sounding garbage.

Molestating The Decapitated comes at my mind, but who knows, maybe you will find it to be gurgling garbage too.

It depends. I'll give an example - Torsofuck is gurgling sounding garbage, the riffs are easily forgettable if at all distinguishable and the vocals sound like a whale or hippo regurgitating. No variety - no progression - no memorable aspects that make it worth discussing.

Carcass? Autopsy? Dismember's second album? Those are just the obvious ones.

Visceral Evisceration have gore artwork, but their album is rather awesome death/doom.

And yeah, I second Carcass.

Man, this article about how Epitaph Records is quickly veering downhill is totally spot on. I mean, they've never been my favourite label, but at least they used to have integrity and I will say they have put out a few great albums in their time. Now they're just embarrassing themselves with awful trendy stuff teenagers in their "scene" phase will think is, like, totally rad.

It doesn't matter what genre. It just has to be offensive, Dismember's second just barely makes it, but Symphonies of Sickness does because it's images of actual dead people although the music isn't what I'd consider great, it's passable compared to Torsofuck. Avoid obvious ones like Mayhem and the like. Also there's no need to upload the actual cover, the title is fine.

I absolutely love that the (presumably ex-)bassist for Gas Huffer shows up in the comments to that Vice article.

On offensive album covers vs. good music, I suppose it depends on what your definition of offensive is -- Acid Bath used the artwork of a serial killer for When the Kite String Pops, and while I have no idea if Gacy or his "estate" benefited financially from that, it could be construed as offensive.

As for gory, Impaled's The Dead Shall Dead Remain has a cover that is legitimately revolting and music that is legitimately amazing. Of course this depends on what your definition of "gurgling sounding garbage" is.

The sophomore featured artwork from Dr.Kevorkian and was banned in Australia as a result (however, the ban has been lifted since). Both of their albums are great.

What is wrong with canoeing? I've done so once before, and I thought it was a very enjoyable experience.

To be fair, Napero's capacity to find sexual innuendo where none previously existed or even suggested itself exceeds that of normal human beings. The mushrooms have changed him.

Dibs on the Sex Dungeon name if you don't use it. The man does indeed have an almost supernatural ability to turn innocent things into sexual innuendos.

My brother and I came up with the Jerry Seinfeld Bondage Cult once. If that's ever turned into a band, we should totally do a split.

In all seriousness, I dunno, Cannibal Corpse? Defeated Sanity (who aren't actually good but most people insist that they are anyways)?

The Zimmerman thread should not have been closed so early; there was still far more ground to cover, especially as the ongoing civil trials begin to heat up.
