With their latest masterpiece "Cause Of Death: Life" released on Double-CD, HAPPY DAYS have finally reached the peak of Depressive Black Metal.
Forget about all the other pseudo-DBM-bands that exist uselessly...........

Check the track "Cold Aggression":

Any opinions?

Sounds like all the other pseudo-DBM-bands that exist uselessly, but who am I to judge, I listen to deathcore.

I started listening to DSBM around 2009, and I’ve always considered Happy Days one of the worst of the well-know DSBM bands. But this album’s reviews suggest it’s better than their other ones. I’ll give it a listen, despite the cheesy name.

Ha, I think I might sig this. Once again, the only depressive emo black metal (or whatever it is called) that I've listened to is Silencer, and many laughs were had.

Being the "king" of something that a lot of people don't take seriously (for good reasons most of the time) like depressive black metal is a dubious honor at best.

Meh, DSBM has a lot of good stuff. I could use the same uninformed criteria to judge raw black metal as silly and don't take it seriously, it would be foolish and inmature from my part. DSBM is a great genre if you like what it has to offer (it's a pretty broad genre, many different bands fall into this category) personally I've enjoyed lots of bands since I got into the genre (not too long ago I must admit) Happy Days is nowhere near my top list, a few good songs but there are lots of more achieved bands like Thy Light, Abyssic Hate, Woods of Desolation and Xasthur

Given what I've heard, the latest Happy Days is fairly good, or at least a signiiiiificant step up from what they were doing previously. I found their earlier work to be an embarrassment.

But still, for what it's worth, I find it to pale in comparison to bands like Hypothermia, Gris, Shining, etc...

I was disappointed when this thread wasn't about Gris.

This band has always been a ridiculously untalented and plain band that gets more recognition due to their lyrical themes and imagery than actual music. Do people actually like this now? It's a marginal improvement but still manages to be impressively ordinary.

OT: i like me some DSBM, but i dunno if these guys are kings of it. it sounds fairly standard. that's a good thing, but i'm not handing out crowns for it!

I dunno, a lot of Shining doesn't really do it for me. But yeah, with that said, still better than Happy Days by a longshot.

But as for the "kings of depressive black" I would think more along the lines of Infestus, Lyrinx, Nyktalgia, Sombres Forêts, TotalSelfHatred, etc.

I can not see how Happy Days can be classed as 'Kings' of DSBM at all, yes the latest album was an improvement but still find 90% of the material on it to be worthless. I bought the CD on some recommendations by a friend but will be selling it as found it too whiny.

Can't argue with The Fonz.

"Happy Days" still isn't as stupid a name as "Make a Change...Kill Yourself". Bands like those are prime examples of the name 100% driving me away from listening to their stuff.

I'd still listen to Make a Change Kill Yourself over Happy Days any day, and the name is that bad lol.
