Could anyone recommend me some ambient/drone similar to Tim Hecker's Ravedeath, 1972?

:-D

Should jump back a page or two as I came in here looking for something like Haunt Me... I was recommend Fennesz and found Endless Summer to be my favorite. Beyond that I didn't get much input, but I'd love to know more artists like Hecker. Also, listen to Mirages if you haven't; I found it to be my favorite of Hecker's work (just got the LP and there's a lot i've missed hearing Mp3s of it).

Fennesz

Also, give Ben Frost a shot if you don't know him. Lacks the glitchiness of hecker and his more electronic backing, but Theory of Machines is a nice piece of guitar driven drone (or By The Throat which is more avant-garde and is more atmospheric).

Cool, thanks, I'll definitely check those out. I definitely need to get more Hecker as Ravedeath is the only album of his I have. And I do enjoy some more guitar driven drone (like Barn Owl, later Earth, etc) so I might enjoy some Ben Frost.

I'm looking for electronic non-Ambient music with that Lustre spirit. Deep atmospheric stuff, You know. On a sampler called "Dream Injection 3" from 1995, I found tracks like this or this or this.
Which genre is this? Seems to be a subgenre of Trance? Post whatever You think coming close to this. I'm already aware of Aphex Twin, Biosphere and Orbital.

Darren Price and Scuba are techno/ambient techno, Plastic Solution is breakbeat/techno

try this stuff:

Looking for slow, crushing doomy shoegaze similar to early Jesu (self titled and heart ache era). Mostly clean vocals preferred. Sadness and melancholy a must. Any recommendations? Thank you

Give The Ambush a try, one of the alias of German techno producer Oliver Lieb. It's one of my favourite ambient/techno albums of all time; deep, lush and mesmerising with ethnic/tribal influenced drum programming. If you're only going to sample one track, make it track 2 "Casablanca".
http://oliverlieb.bandcamp.com/album/the-ambush-lp

For something more abstract, try "Incunabula", the first album from Autechre. Nowhere near as difficult or fractured as their later stuff, the synth melodies are gorgeously moody.

My recs are pretty obvious, but two bands I really love and fit your criteria.

Angelic Process

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNu9JuURXL8

Nadja much more droney and a varied discography that'll drive you insane. I really like Bliss Torn from Emptiness (re recorded) which is way too droney for here. Truth Becomes Death is a mixture of the two...but the song included i've taken the liberty to skip through the droney beginning to give you what I think you'd like.

^^^ Thanks. I have given nadja a try, but indeed their discography is overwhelming. I've only listened to 2-3 albums, and did enjoy truth becomes death. My favorite so far is skin turns to glass (rerecorded). If u have a chance, what are the other good nadja albums and which are the ones to avoid completely? And yes angelic process are incredible, shame they are no more. Thanks again

Most of their material from 2009-2011 is terrible. I only gave Sky Burial, Belles Betes, Under the Jaguar Sun a go and they were boring. MA reviews support that 2011 was also a bad year for the band. 2012's collab with Vampilla (the Primitive World) sparked new life into the band and isn't bad. If you go through their reviews Caspian is on point for most of the time.

Dagdrom was a nice surprise and features the drummer from Jesus Lizard. It's more doomy less droney, but is a solid release. I myself haven't hear a lot of their output, but what I've listed are albums I revisit often.

In order of best to least best

Bliss Torn from Emptiness (2008)
Truth Becomes Death
Touched (2007)
Christ Send Light
Bodycage
The Bungled & The Botched
Long Dark Twenties 7"
The Primitive World
Dagdrom
Trembled* (simply worth hearing for the Swans cover which is amazing and doesn't sound as good on "When I see the Sun...")

No problem dude. the band should really limit their output. But thankfully with the advent of Bandcamp a lot of their stuff is available to hear whereas when I was first getting into them I had to do a lot of illegally downloading to hear tracks. The idea of checking out Baker's solo project gives me too much anxiety to even bother.

http://brokenspineprods.bandcamp.com/

(scroll down a bit and there's a Nadja section)

Also, Caspian and Preplexed_selj's reviews are a decent guideline if you check out Nadja's page on MA. Not that I 100% agree with the two, but it's a good filter as to what to bother with and what not to.

I was trying to think to some recs, but could only come up with more modern space-drone/ambient like Saturn Form Essence and Sabled Sun etc. I assume these aren't what you're looking for?

The only other thing is this great track by a friend of mine:

Anything fitting would be apprectiated

A bit different than Pan American, but has the qualities you're after.

Burial, particularly this remix of Massive Attack

Holy Other

Thanks for the response and sorry for the late reply.
I've taken a listen and while you are right that they do have the qualities, they are not exactly what I'm after.
In addition to the things I already mentioned, I am looking for a certain smoothness/repetitiveness not unlike Bohren & der club of gore (although that is totally unrelated musically).
If you have any more suggestions, they would be appreciated. If it is has a much darker atmosphere than Pan American, that's okay as long as it has some kind of sedative effect

Can anyone recommend me stuff similar to the album Kosmiche Death Worship by Teeth Engraved With the Names of the Dead? http://teethengravedwiththenamesofthede ... athworship

Looking for some very dark drone in a similar vein to this (preferably not drone doom, looking for pure drone/dark ambient, maybe with some noise influence).

This is great, thanks for posting this. As for your request Balbus suggested Ophir for me a couple of pages back when I was looking for something like Utarm.

http://ophir666.bandcamp.com/

Utarm's way more dynamic and loud, but you may dig it regardless.

Could someone recommend me some nature-inspired ambient? I'd prefer to avoid space themes, and bonus points if it's more than generic forest stuff. My two favorite ambient albums are Ulver's Shadow of the Sun and Nest's Trail of the Unwary. Obviously, I don't mind if a couple other genres get mixed in, and I would like something that's more than just synth pads.

Are there shoegaze pop bands like this song by Asobi Seksu?
I mean, with very VERY catchy melodies, and it would be good also a girl singing?

I haven't heard much of there stuff, but what I have heard I think Blood of the Black Owl might fit your bill. They started off doom but evolved into more ritualistic ambient drone. Very nature inspired

I'm looking for groovy shoegaze, post black metal, like Ajuna, for instance.
I don't like bad/sizzle production very much.

Hey guys, I'm looking for something with a sonic presentation similar to Rob Dougan's only album. You know, trippy breakbeat meats downtempo meets classical meets Chris Rea on vocals. :D Thing is, while I love his instrumental work (Furious Angels, Clubbed To Death) I'm more inclined into stuff that has vocals as the driving force with a lot of instrumentation on the back and tension and crescendos and all of that.

A good example would be this song of his. See how his mellow croon almost caresses your ears with the electronic component working as layers in the background that suddenly come up front? I want more of that. ;)

Last night I stumbled across some fantastic artists I needed to share somewhere.

The end of the world championship - http://umorrex.bandcamp.com/album/in-slow-motion This is heavy and oppressive as anything I've heard without going even slightly into doom or metal territory

Aeronaut - https://soundcloud.com/aeronaut4/sets/y ... smissions/ Absolutely beautiful spacey ambient soundscapes.

Johan G Winther - http://belaten.bandcamp.com/album/eatin ... g-its-tail Best way I can think to describe it is noise/drone. Fantastic.

Mordor - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HT2PbUbF1V0 - Funeral doom, with a lot of drone sounding elements to it too. Found it on the recent thread here, still pretty interesting though.

Leyland Kirby - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tBOkAUtxX0 - ambient/drone, using some brass instruments and some quite subtle droning bass.

all hail the transcending ghost - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YM2OaUM4b1Q dark ambient

the fun years - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bn9btgsF7MQ ambient with swirly shoegazey guitars

It's a shame my laptop sucks balls and I get constant buffering on all this.

Anyone happens to know a band which sounds like this song by Gold Panda?
Unfortunately not even their others songs are like, it seems they are more like downtempo, not what I look for.
I want some electronic music less neutral and more "folky", just like that song.

I want me some of that too.

Also wading my toes into witchouse. I REALLY like Salem, but every artist seems to have a completely retarded, un-internet search friendly name. Which is rather frustrating. Basically I'm wondering what the best is so I can stop listening to bands called %m{c43asc6ar(%a

I really think White Ring's the best of the bunch. Never got into ooo0o0o0o0o0o or whatever, or Balam Acab, but White Ring is great (although they seem just as stupid as Salem).
