And if I remember correctly, they will do an album on Dark Descent.

Looks like Deathevokation - The Chalice Of Ages is finally getting a re-release, good decision, because this album became unfindable already after a couple of years...

Bah, I already have the Xtreem Music pressing but I might have to get that, too, as the band is one of my favorites and I'd like to hear their other material.

Overrated band IMHO.

There's so many quality albums that need a repress, I don't know why Xtreem made this choice :???:

Blasphemy!!! Just kidding.
I can understand why some people don't like them. The music is quite mellow and there isn't much variation but I think it conveys their message superbly. So yeah, I love them.

Because it's an easy money fix. They released it in the first place, so they own the rights already. Now they repress it as a double disc, put some extra demo material and bam! Instant sales, instant cash inbound. It's not rocket science mate. :p

Well, that's awesome! I thought I read in the metal-archives that they were split up.

Was thinking the same thing cause I would only want it for the 7in and demo material. I'm not the biggest fan. They are good, they just don't move me as much.

Confirm the active status of Stench Of Decay.

Lead guitarist Rami respond to an email of mine telling they are slowly working on full lenght and are also busy with side project Circle.

Glad to hear that of course :headbang:

So I just listened to this debut full-length by the Texas band Church of Disgust and was really impressed by it:

Like many a recent band, they've got a bit of an Incantation thing going on, but it's mixed in with the sloppy gore of Autopsy, the punishing heaviness and simplicity of bands like Cianide or maybe Coffins, plus some stranger, thrashier riffs that recall Morbid Angel. Yet there's a sort of charming sort of sloppiness to the whole thing that kind of evokes early Bolt Thrower, though the band rarely really sounds like them at all, if that makes any sense. Anyway there's a lot of really excellent riffs and that guitar tone is to fucking die for.

Definitely digging Filtheater. Sounds like some of the earlier Swedish and Finnish Death Metal bands crossbreeding.

I got a chance to listen to some of Innsmouth's album the other day. I'm enjoying the hell out of it.

The one review of it on here being a 45% is somewhat criminal.

It's that production -- it kills my ears, so at least in that regard I agree with the review. Between the cover art, subject matter, and hype it got around here, I was convinced this album would be one of the year's best. And who knows, maybe it is, on the other side of that bizarre production. It feels like they left a massive wedge out of their sound, like, all the mid and low end, then somehow left tons of airy space in what was left of the mix. I normally don't mind lo-fi or "necro" or any kind of intentionally off balance production, but in this case it ruins what could've been an enjoyable experience.

It reminds me of Blood Ritual's At the Mountains of Madness, actually, in more ways than one.

I listened to all of those samples (thanks MachineDead, you rock) and most of them are pretty good, but Lie in Ruins is my personal favorite. The drums are strong, the vocals stand out just enough, and they really nailed that old-school sound. No wonder--EM says they got their start in '93 and a comeback in '02, so they're not a bunch of kids who just picked up some instruments and followed a trend. They've got a pretty addictive midpaced assault going in that song; I think I'll check out their latest album.

The artwork for Rude's upcoming album 'Soul Recall' looks awesome... Obviously, because it's a Dan Seagrave artwork

I accidentally stumbled over this US old school death metal band 'Fatalist'. They are possibly one of the better American death metal bands doing Swedish DM the correct way, too bad they've been split-up for a while now... From the album 'The Depths of Humanity' (2009)

http://youtu.be/gtOQ5kJ9DAc

Definitely a recommended listen!

Up the thread cause of:

Image

"GRUESOME is a respectful a celebration of the sound of the early DEATH records. The band was borne out of guitarist/vocalist Matt Harvey and drummer Gus Rios' mutual involvement with the DEATH TO ALL tours (Harvey serving as frontman for the original nine-member mini-tour and Rios performing “Baptized in Blood” and working with DTA drummer Sean Reinert on the following US tour where EXHUMED filled in as support on a few dates). The pair stayed in touch and discussed their mutual love (obsession?) for the early half of DEATH's catalog. After discussing and discarding the idea of putting together another incarnation of DTA to focus exclusively on the first two albums, Harvey half-jokingly suggested writing their own songs in that vein. It wasn't long before the idea gained traction, and the “band” had five songs written. With Harvey writing in California, Rios recruited POSSESSED guitarist Daniel Gonzalez and DERKETA bassist Robin Mazen to record the material in Florida, while Harvey tracked his vocals on the west coast. The result is a truly gruesome slab of late-80s / early 90s “Florida Death Metal” that specifically celebrates the early DEATH records. Tragically, there will never be any truly new DEATH material, but GRUESOME is humbly determined to keeping the band's classic sound alive as faithfully as possible."

GRUESOME:

Daniel Gonzalez - Guitar
Matt Harvey – Guitar, vocals
Robin Mazen – Bass
Gus Rios - Drums

It certainly sounds like Leprosy/Spiritual Healing era Death but errmm... I'm totally cool with worship and I'm cool with wearing your influences on your sleeve, but when you're trying THIS hard to copy a very specific sound it kinda comes across as a bit ridiculous and silly to me...

Just known that Morbid Tendency changed name in Kever but the sound remains in the Morrisound veins...

I'll have to check Hereza when I get home this evening

Serpens Aeon & Drawn and Quartered are both excellence though Drawn and Quartered isn't really revivalist since they are actually osdm since they were formed in 1993.

Just fucking Funebrarum you know? Both their albums are masterpieces and they're creating a new one.
