I posted this in a thread created by me, but was told to post it here, so here it goes:

'Good morning,

I was wondering if there are any users from Greece that could give me a help.
A friend of mine will be going on Erasmus to Thessaloniki, and I was wondering if any of you could tell me of any shop where she could find cds, tapes, merchandise for good prices (I was looking for an Embrace of Thorns backpatch, but I can only find really expsensive ones).

Thanks to any information :)'

And thanks again to anyone that can give me some info :)

The only ones I know about are Rock City and Alone. Alone has some rarities and second hand, while I suspect that Rock City mostly focus on new stuff.

Alone is great, as Porman said. Pretty big selection with some rarities, prices are okay.

There's one more I know of besides Alone and Rock City:

Nephilim: http://www.nephilimstore.gr/index.php

Also there's Menios, which doesn't sell music but accessories that are music-related like shirts, bags, belts, jewelery, patches, pins and bullet belts. Ranges from rock to metal and alternative, but mostly pretty pop stuff so I don't know if you'll find Embrace of Thorns. Worth a shot if the others don't work out though.

http://menios.gr/

If your friend decides to make a small trip to Athens I can be of much further assistance.

EDIT: Also, metal is pretty popular in Greece (your friend will see long-haired and bearded dudes everywhere around Thesaloniki) so that means the bigger music/multimedia stores like Metropolis and Public will always have a pretty big selection of metal CD's and vinyl too. Don't expect anything rare or out of print, but it's worth noting.

We're actually kind of spoiled for really good record stores.

First and nearest to my heart is Extreme Noise: http://www.extremenoise.com/. They're centrally located in Minneapolis, and stock tons of really good albums from punk, hardcore, and metal bands. There's an emphasis on vinyl here, so I love this place. It's a collectively-run store staffed by volunteers, so the prices tend to be a dollar or two cheaper than larger record stores, too.

I also highly, highly recommend going to downtown St. Paul to Into the Void (https://www.facebook.com/intothevoidrecordsusa). They're a metal-only store with an emphasis on CDs, but with a good vinyl selection too. The store is smaller than Extreme Noise, but well worth the ten minute drive. Super knowledgeable and friendly staff.

Cheapo Records is near Extreme Noise, but tends to be expensive. There's a large vinyl collection and a dedicated metal section if you're looking for CDs. You can find some gems in their deep used sections if you're willing to dig (the last time I went, I found Ram it Down by Judas Priest for $6). Electric Fetus is a bit closer to downtown, and stocks a lot of music, most of it not metal at all. They carry some releases by some more popular metal bands though, and there are usually cute girls shopping for the newest indie band records, too.

Actually, I did find some pretty good stuff in Drama, Greece in a regular record store.

A first print cd of Samael - Rebellion still wrapped in plastic for 5 Euro, as well as Kaamos and Severe Torture, completely untouched for the same price.

I'm in Boise, Idaho. Pretty sure there isnt anything here just short of out local record store. However, I am visiting Denver here pretty soon. I have plans to visit TRVE Brewing and Black Sky. Other than that, are there any other places in Denver for a metalhead to visit?

Perth, Australia

There's two stores that have a pretty good selection but they're not 'Metal' stores. You have Dada Music on Pier St in Perth and Junction Records in Fremantle. There's also the JBHIFI chains but the people who order the music have no idea about metal.

Any takers??

I'm planning on going to Beijing, China next weekend. Does anyone know any metal shops there or at least stores which would have some metal titles in its selection?

It's been many years since I been to Beijing, but when I was there, every record store had plenty of death and black metal albums.

Would you know if there's any record stores near the Forbidden City? I'll be spending only half the day in Beijing and I'd think we'll spend most of it near the tourist-y spots.

No idea. The whole city changed a lot in preparing for the summer Olympics. All I remember I had no problems finding tons of metal in any record store I walked into. Just try your luck and check any record store you see.

Disc Replay in Crest Hill, IL.

Disc Replay is a used cd store chain, but this one actually has employees that are heavy into metal, so they have a very solid metal section.

So does the one in Hoffman Estates, though the prices at disc replay tend to be on the high to never would I pay that side of things for a lot of their merchandise. Hell I've seen albums there that I can buy else where, pay for shipping, and still save on what they were asking. But don't be discouraged, they do have good stuff and some of it is fairly priced.

Anything in South Florida other than Radioactive Records, Sweat Records and Record Rack? I've heard of a few other places that I can't name from the top of my head, but their metal selection is limited. The 3 I listed above are okay every so often, but Record Rack only has like brand new, re-released stuff, and it kind of drives me crazy, because I'm paying him the same price if not more than I'd pay for it online. And Radioactive Records and Sweat Records are nothing special. If you know anything about SoFla let me know. Or just anything in Florida, because every so often I travel up for a show.

I live in Negresti Oas, Satu Mare, Romania. Most of the music in my local stores are garbage and not metal, which most of it are Manele (Gypsy music) Folk music and for adults mainly Hip Hop/Rap so if there are any local stores in my location for metal music, i'd like to hear it. and if it's not here then i should go to main city of Satu Mare.

P.S I have to use USB to listen to metal because it's difficult to burn a CD and i get an error on someone's car.

I already know of a good music shop in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, but I was wondering if anyone knows some speciality metal store in Calgary. I know of "record land" and a shop in the N.W. However, if anyone knows of more shops, please do let me know. Cheers.
