Not necessarily deathcore at all, but Criminal Element (DC-based Deathgrind with members from Dying Fetus, Suffocation and Pyrexia) might be along the same lines as this.. I was gonna try and post a link to Snitch Bitch Homicide, but apparently the album track isn't up on Youtube so here's my second choice

This is going to sound very vague, but is there any good deathcore bands? The only deathcore band I really like and enjoy is born of osiris. I also hear some people call Between the buried and me and The black dahlia murder deathcore, I really love both of those bands but don't consider either to be deathcore at all. So I am just curious if there is gems in this genre.

There are like three bands that are generally considered to be Deathcore for People Who Don't Like Deathcore; they are as follows:

All Shall Perish are generally also considered to be fit for metalhead consumption, but I won't attempt to sell them to you as I'm not super-familiar with them.

EDIT: There's also Burning Skies, who mix Despised Icon-styled deathcore with thrash metal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUN0OquCz64

I am really enjoying the red chord, didn't really care for the other stuff, but I am currently checking out the red chords stuff on spotify, thanks!!!! I might check out all shall perish as they seem to have decent reviews on the archives for a deathcore band.

You can also try with Shadow of The Colossus, one of my favorite releases of the year. Lots of groove, melodic riffing, versatile drumwork...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXYq_V2EHds

If you like Between the Buried and Me progressive elements, you should give a chance to Slice The Cake, by no means they sound the same, but they have a lot of progressive hints ala BTBAM, but these guys are undeniably deathcore.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeSmNb2Nlw0

Also one last deathcore band that I've recently discovered is War From A Harlots Mouth, it seem like early works are more mathcore driven, but their last album, Voyeur, sounds pretty deathcore to me, with lots dissonant open string riffing, wich reminds me just a little bit to Deathspell Omega in Paracletus, always a good thing.

I am really enjoying that slice the cake song, I am starting to think that when it comes to deathcore, I can only really get into the progressive stuff. For some reason deathcore by itself to me is really boring, but with add prog elements it becomes really good, with that said I checked out all shall perish and they are pretty decent so far, the only straight up deathcore band I am enjoying so far.

Hello, i would like to ask for some Metalcore, if you please. Metalcore acts that i like include All that Reimans, early Avenged Sevenfold and BFMV, Chimaira, Shadows Fall, As i Lay Dying, Trivium, God Forbid, Full Blown Chaos, Baptized in Blood, Dirge Within and Trials, among others.

What im looking for, is something obiously more Metal influenced than "core" itself. Be it influenced by Thrash, Melodic Death or any other genres. Something in the lines of The Fall of Ideas by All That Remains or Dirge Within.

This is the kind of stuff that im molsty looking for:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IetyQQgJOFM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5S4asgeJcA
http://gunshyassassin.com/exclusive/tri ... -metaphor/

As you can see, stuff like that. That is, catchy Metalcore, with good riffs and hooky choruses. I would prefer Metalcore only and not Deathcore, but if there is a truly good Deathcore act that you would like to recommend me go ahead.

Thanks for further help :).

Check out Veil of Maya, After the Burial and The Contortionist if you dig Born of Osiris. Very similar bands with the prog/djenty riffing, but I think they do it better than BoO. More interesting riffs and more tangible death metal influence, at least on their older records. I'm not too sure what the future holds for these dudes since it seems these Sumerian Records bands are gradually removing the metal riffs and replacing them with boring djent riffs, but I dig a lot of the songs on their older albums.

Some old AtB from their first album Rareform...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9VPYpDEjrw

From Veil of Maya's first album The Common Man's Collapse...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YMFgzNW8yE&noredirect=1

The Contortionist is definitely rooted in prog territory, especially on their most recent album, but their debut Exoplanet is a phenomenal record that balances lush, proggy atmospheric passages with mosh-tastic crushing breakdowns. Here...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLHgE0uiEOU&noredirect=1

BTBaM and TBDM aren't deathcore.

Cheers.

Thanks, veil of maya seems pretty cool, and I know BTBAM and TBDM aren't deathcore, but I hear people lump them up with deathcore, but I consider TBDM Melodic Death Metal and BTBAM Progressive death metal.

You may like Conducting from The Grave newest record, it has many melodic death metal elements and some clean vocals.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVa5zAamVTU

Mutiny Within is also pretty good if you like metalcore with progressive elements without getting in the djent area, and melodic death metal ala Into Eternity/Scar Symmetry.

Seconding Darkest Hour.

Hey all, this is going to be a weird request, but does anyone know if there are metalcore bands that sound like Panic! At The Disco? In other words, metalcore bands that use the weird contrast between traditional and electronic instrumentation? Wikipedia called the style baroque pop. I guess what I'm asking is if there's baroque metalcore around.

I hear the electronics, but it doesn't have the baroque-pop stuff I'm looking for. Essentially, I'm trying to find a heavier version of this sort of music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vc6vs-l5dkc

Heh, as much as I should when even bothering to try metalcore, I can't get into Converge at all, especially not the album they're widely praised for, Jane Doe, I really don't get how you can even like this album, it's simply terrible, it's a sonic wall of suck, utter chaos. The opening track is just terrible, nothing but pointless uncomprehensable screaming, annoyingly abnoxious and totally horrible... I barely made it through the album, and I really have trouble to understand how this got praised so much...

As for deathcore, MUCH more pleasant, I actually like some of these bands, Suicide Silence especially, I kinda got into this thanks to a good friend of mine who's a big fan of screamo/emocore/teencore/freakcore, and I got introduced to Mitch Lucker, while I find it hard to listen through his low-gutted growls on The Cleansing, I actually think it's great music, Unanswered is a track I often listen to because of it's killer opening and The Black Crown is just a great album overall imo...

My 2 cents :p

The opening track is noisecore/noisegrind, not metalcore. A good example of the metalcore on that album would be "Homewrecker":

Converge are a different kind of metalcore than you might be thinking of, though - it's more of a purer mix of hardcore punk and various metal genres than modern metalcore (which tends to be melodic death metal mixed with hard rock choruses and hardcore breakdowns).

Not to mention that Converge are spastic as fuck, right? They incorporate a lot of mathcore in their songwriting, as well as post-hardcore elements (You Fail Me for instance), so they're hardly your typical metalcore band. It takes a good deal of listening to get used to how they sound, and it clearly isn't a band for everyone. Their discography is really varied too, to the point where you can distinguish three distinctive periods in their albums. I for one tend to favour the Jane Doe/You Fail Me/No Heroes triad, which is by far their better period. But people are free to disagree with me on that one.

You guys can check out this old post that has a ton of recs, mostly for melodic deathcore. It's old and a lot of links are broken, but you could always just search the band up on youtube on your own.

Uhh, is there any "good" deathcore? Not that I necessarily hate the genre, but I wanna hear what is regarded as good deathcore (e.g The Red Chord) without the teen-hormone lyrics for example...

"Actually good deathcore" is the most popular question in this thread, and the answers will never change from "The Adversary by Thy Art Is Murder, Consumed by Your Poison by Despised Icon, All Shall Perish, and Carnifex's latest three albums". This needs to be added to the first post.

To be frank, most of the non-mainstream aspiring deathcore acts are totally absent of "teen-hormone lyrics"

I'm looking for some old-school melodic metalcore/melodeath such as early Unearth, Undying, As Hope Dies, Prayer for Cleansing, early All That Remains, and early The Black Dahlia Murder. I can't really seem to find anything else besides those bands. There's also The Year of Our Lord, but they really don't have any core elements. Recs?

Have you tried Darkest Hour, Heaven Shall Burn, or Early Shadows Fall. Those seem to fit what you are looking for.

Recs?

Darkest Hour- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYFTYCbNJIg

Heaven Shall Burn- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTkZt8r2lko

Shadows Fall- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bk8ueaQqr8Q

Unfortunately, I'm all too familiar with every one of those bands, Darkest Hour in particular considering they're from D.C. and I go to school nearby. Darkest Hour has much more of a thrash influence and less core than the bands I mentioned though, but yeah they would fit in there. Heaven Shall Burn is a little more modern, and they also sound a bit different due to the Bolt Thrower influence. Shadows Fall doesn't have enough of the angsty, tremolo-picked harmonies that I love. Sure they exist on songs like "To Ashes", "Crushing Belial," and "The First Noble Truth," but those are really the only examples I can think of.

I guess to be slightly more specific, I am looking for bands the closest to Undying, As Hope Dies, and Prayer for Cleansing. Early TBDM fits because, well, they even said themselves they were trying to mimic Undying and Prayer for Cleansing. I am looking for something that switches between really fast and angsty tremolo-picked harmonies, mid-paced chunky metal-core riffs/breakdowns, slower Iron Maiden-esque guitar harmonies with a bit of counterpoint. Examples:

Undying (the band the fits most what I'm looking for)
Spoiler: show

The Black Dahlia Murder (early)
Spoiler: show

Prayer for Cleansing
Spoiler: show

As Hope Dies
Spoiler: show

Haha how coincidental, I'm reading about Finite Automata for my computer science class right now! I'll check them out and let you know what I think. Listening to Naglfar right now.

I'm not really sure if I should ask this here or the hardcore thread, but I was wondering what your all's best picks for bands like early Converge and Trap Them are? I already know Seizures.

Im looking for technical deathcore along the lines of rings of saturn and infant annihilator

some bands that have that weird spacey sounding atmosphere like RoS are: lord of war, the faceless, the contortionist, and pretty much anything released from the record label unique leader.

Anybody know any bands that sound like Thy Art is Murder from their first demo: "This Hole Isnt Deep Enough For The 12 Of You"? I just love the songs "Like A Face To A Blender" and "This Hole Isn't Deep Enough". Its saddens me that they abandoned that sound so early on.
