Nothing but good things to say about Sun & Moon records when it comes to their mailorder service. Pretty cool on the communication side and with some very good prices. Recommended.

So I just ordered the new Demilich compendium from Svart Records. I say tentatively that I had a great shopping experience; because I just ordered the CD and no LPs (hopefully there will still be a couple Demilich LP boxes left lying around when I actually have the money...), I got free shipping from Europe to Canada, AND they let me upgrade to priority shipping for free.

That said, there is a somewhat common issue I have with European webshops: sometimes the address field will simply ask for your country and your city, which is fine in a place like Germany or France, but the province/state field is probably a necessity for North American customers (and any other country that splits itself into states/provinces). I told Svart my province in the "additional comments" field on the order form, so hopefully that's enough.

To me the problem is the other way around, that is, when I order from the US and they ask me for "state/province" which we don't have. :D

I've ordered from Svart before and the experience was very positive. I'm also waiting on my copy of that box to arrive and I'm perfectly tranquil about it to be honest. You should be too. ;)

Yeah, the overall experience was smooth enough to make me believe that they'll get it sorted all in good time.

What's happened to metaldisc? Their site is dead, so I'm wondering if they are still in business. Anyone know?

Some good distros I recommend:
Osmose productions, Iron Bonehead (lots of free stuff), Van Records
Especially Osmose, because there's a huge amount of good death and black metal bands.

Otherwise: just support your local musicstore or buy albums at concerts!

Bad distros: fortunately none (yet). Soulseller records was a bit slow (waited 3 weeks or something like that for a small order), but he made it up with some cool free stuff.

Anybody who has experience with No Colours?

For Canadians : (and well anyone else that wants to order from them too)

http://waronmusic.com/

This label/distro stocks stuff from literally everywhere and everyone else involved in the label/distro game.
However the site is perhaps Canada's best option for postal savings maybe?

http://azintex-music.com/

this guy is Russian and almost everything he sells on his website are counterfeits.
I bought him many CD's and when I realised they were fakes he didn't want to refund my money and told me he fucks people who sell the originals for a higher price than him etc...

I've been going through this whole thread but haven't seen what I'm looking for. Are there any good distros that ship worldwide that deal in NWOBHM and 80s metal? Most of the stuff here is black/death/thrash and while I love all that, I want to start collecting LPs from the aforementioned eras.

So cmdistro is selling Triptykon's Melana Chasmata CD for $10 on their US store and 15€ on their european store, which gives $20, double the price of the US. It's a regionally bad distro.

crypt70 wrote:
In regards to Skull Fucking Metal/Keegan Irvine (out of Canada) - this guy is the absolute WORST, and I actually don't know anyone that has ever received their order from him. As stated above, someone was ripped off twice by this bozo, and I can claim the same: I ordered his "specialty CDrs", which as said above, are bootlegs of bands' demos/discographies/etc. basically, just hard to find stuff or stuff not on CD. I ordered over $55 worth of these in April 2013 - this Keegan Irvine guy then strung me along with every possible excuse for over 2 months (been sick, out of town, and even having to go buy more CDrs!), or at least until I could no longer claim a refund via PayPal. He stated that my package must have been lost in the mail...but he would be willing to re-send again, as long as I paid a registered mail fee ($10) so that it didn't happen again. Well, here it is, October of 2013, and I've never received anything and my e-mails also go unanswered.

Besides me and the above, who else has been ripped off by this jerk-off? I first saw him "advertise" via Dark Descent's forum, so I've already contacted Matt of DD to let him know about this.

+1 to this.

Ordered $67 worth of stuff from this Skullfuckingmetal guy at the beginning of January 2014. Emailed him halfway through the month for an update and tracking number and didn't get a reply until the beginning of February (after sending several more emails), at which point he claimed he'd left his email logged in at the library and "some whacko got into his account". He then said it was "definitely on it's way" and should arrive "any day soon". He also claimed that there wasn't the option to send registered mail in Canada (????)

Well, lo! and behold, nothing arrived. Later that month, he offered to pay the money back until it did arrive (asking me to send him the money again when it did arrive), then when it came to actually doing that, he gave me some bullshit about it being returned to him and that he would send it again, including some extras as an apology for the delay.

It's now April 2014 and still absolutely nothing. He is not replying to any more of my emails. All I can say is, avoid SFM Distro like the plague, and if you have placed any orders with him recently, open a PayPal case ASAP, because you will not receive anything from him. The guy is a total rip-off merchant and a disgrace to the name of all the genuine small distros out there.

Most of my mailorders are about death/black metal.

First there's my friend Walter from Unholy Prophecies, a cool young label from Germany. Fast, serious and truly dedicated to music.
Dark Descent records, one of the best death metal label in US. Thousands of records for sale. Brilliants bands. What else ?
Memento Mori, a really nice label/mail order from Spain dedicated to death metal
Doomentia, terrific label with awesome vinyls.
Then Invictus productions , Darragh runs a really cool label and has a lot of interesting cds in his shop.

Sometimes I order from Hellheadbangers (great label), Tank Crime (really expensive shipping cost to Europe), Lecherous Corpse (which has slow down its activities but still exist), Nuclear winter records (their website is down for some unknown reason but mailorder is still active), Hellthrasher records (cool polish label)

In fact the only mailorder who ripped me off badly few years ago was Open "fuckin" Grave records. A massive order (more than 100$) has been lost during shipping. All right that could happened sometimes... BUT as my order was a big one, I asked Open grave to send me 2 packages. I've never received anything. They didn't answer back my emails. And when they did (because a friend of mine was playing in a band from their Rooster) they told me to wait because the shipping was long in surface (I paid for priority air mail).
I've also been in touch with a european band who signed on this label and didn't get any single copies of their own record when it was released...
Fortunatly James Mattern is not active anymore... I really wonder why... ;-)

Anyone ever used Black Wings distribution? http://www.blackwingsdistribution.com/
They've got some pretty sweet backpatches I've been contemplating ordering for a while now, but I've never heard anything about them.
