Funny thing is he's able to change release types, but doesn't, perhaps out of fear.

He's a tedious fellow alright, but the reports I've seen from him have so far been mostly valid. I don't see any reason to warn him. Can you link to any particular reports? Diamhea sent me some, but they were all justified. Just now, I closed a report of his about a Sunn O))) album that was incorrectly listed as an EP.

EDIT: Hm, I guess you mean stuff like this? Sigh, let's see if he heeds my advice.

Right, yes. Also these:

http://www.metal-archives.com/report/view/id/474268

There were tons some months ago, prior to the thread he made about this. Despite the efforts of several users (both mods and regulars), he clearly doesn't get the message, and you directly told him to stop:

He continued to file reports (albeit with a small break, at least as far as I can tell--can't check his reports directly). Yeah, I could see if the reports were definitely valid, but in most cases they're based off his dated/goofy definitions that no one uses, and which he knew very well not to send. :grumble:

I suppose all should be well now, given you've told him to lay off again.

User rateljed15 ( http://www.metal-archives.com/users/Rateljed15 ) made two nonsense updates to different fields (one, a band's additional notes; the other, an artist's trivia section). I think he's trying to be funny.

windOfHerMisfortune adds wrong infomation about dead artists and their involvement dates in bands

http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/MCM/

Randy Coven Bass (2004-2014)

The band hasn't released an album since 2007. They might have split years ago so the 2004-2014 is simply guessed.

Not the 1st time he does it

I'm unsure of where to send this inquiry, but I was just sent a message by Porman saying "Do not add upcoming releases without: 1. Cover art 2. Complete tracklist 3. Exact release date (year, month and day) All confirmed by an official source." which I of course always try to adhere to, but the Chaos Moon album I added to their discog yesterday was announced by the band on their facebook page, the only thing missing was the day of the release, which is obviously my error, but still... I am unsure as to why i received a warning over this and why the album was deleted?
I can provide the link of course, just would like to understand where I went wrong.

The day is also required, yes. "January 2000", for example, is not a date, strictly speaking.

I've got a question: would it be still considered a point-whoring if I add one-by-one (or, let say, two-by-two, in order to receive e.g. 3 points for an album) lyrics that I had previously written down from the booklet by myself? It wouldn't be just a simple copypasta, but a little effort that may probably deserve something more than just 1 point (the problem is how to prove that lyrics haven't been copied, but typed).

It's not a blackmail that "I wouldn't post some lyrics unless you allow me to point-whore" (most of all, nobody cares, because my contribution to this site is very low), but I'm curious if I have a moral right to harvest a few points more in such a case.

Isn't it enough to get a warm fuzzy feeling for helping the community? Whenever I accidentally get double points for a small fix or two (meaning I fix something, submit it, then notice something else on the same page and go back to fix that too = 2 points), I always feel guilty and wish I could deduct that one point from myself  But then again, my fixes are always as minor as they get, so I sorta understand your point as it takes 100x times longer to add lyrics manually... I still wouldn't do it one by one on purpose, though.

What you've just asked Fafik, is - I know it's point whoring but can I still point whore? - No. One point isn't much for sure but if you want to add accurate lyrics we applaud you for doing it for just one little point.

How can you release an album that hadn't even been recorded or finished? You might want to have to check gothic_metal's modification history. She has been adding wrong release dates to at least two albums. She added the wrong release date to Paradox's Heresy. It's impossible that the album could be released on February 1st, 1989 because the liner notes say it was recorded from January to July 1989. So, I changed the release date, according to Tower.com, the album was released in November 1989.

http://www.metal-archives.com/history/view/type/release/id/1086

I also reverted her changes on Annihilator's Alice in Hell. She changed the release date from April 17th, 1989 to September 5th, 1989. After I saw that change, I changed it back to the more accurate release date. It would make sense that Alice in Hell came out April 17th, 1989 because they toured Europe with Onslaught that June.

Alice in Hell was reviewed in Dutch metal magazine Aardschok's issue of April 1989, I bought my (vinyl) copy on 28 May 1989.

By the way, all Dutch versions were released by Roadrunner Records, not by Roadracer Records (which was in fact the US branch of Roadrunner).

Does this gothic_metal person know how to fact check anything? Just yesterday, she changed the year of formation for Def Leppard from 1977 to 1978, which can be debunked with even the slightest bit of searching. Hell, even Wikipedia shows that they formed in Nov. 1977 and change their name to DL later that same year.

S/he (I seriously doubt that they're female, or from the US for that matter) is severely retarded. A week or two ago they sent a report on the 2011 reissue of Mental Funeral, saying that the second DVD disc full of live material should be unmarked as bonus tracks. Their source for this change was a link to the scans for that release, which clearly marked the album with a sticker calling it "bonus material"... I have no idea what the fuck they're thinking.

Yeah she was flagging multiple reports to remove the bonus material descriptor from material that is clearly considered bonus. This was during the short period when she was no longer Veteran or higher, she has since regained some of her access. I have ran into some of her 'other versions' work, though. She seems to be doing a decent job in that regard, if not better than most (I am constantly fixing piecemeal and/or erroneous child entries).

Hello, I'm unsure if I'm on the appropriate forum, regardless there is an issue I must report regarding sock puppets.

http://www.metal-archives.com/albums/Na ... lod/267605

This album's review score has been clearly rigged by at least 2 sock puppet accounts and one account created specifically to rig the review scores. First we have "SatanicMoonblood" an account that has reviewed multiple albums from 2 different bands, all of which belong to Noctir (Nocturnal Abyss and Nattsvargr)

http://www.metal-archives.com/users/SatanicMoonblood

After that we have Nattestid777 an account created explicitly to boost the album's score, the formatting and writing style of Nattestid's review matches with Noctir's reviewing style, not to mention the account has no modifications, no reports, nothing but a single review.

http://www.metal-archives.com/users/Nattestid777

And finally "Daughter North" another account created only to boost the album score, this account does not belong to Noctir but a close friend of him with which she has a joint project, a zine called "Morbid Curse"

http://www.metal-archives.com/users/Daughter%20North

I'm sorry about the length of this post, I considered it necessary to post the appropriate links.

this is a bit of a blast from the past, but, while looking at Damn The Machine's page, I noticed that shockwave1970 had added random line-ups on all their releases (I know that they were random because he had added John Skip on all their releases, while he never even was a member of DTM, he only joined Mumbo's Brain...).

it was a long time ago, and the user has not made any updates in over 6 months, but his update history is mostly adding line-ups, so perhaps someone should have a look...

Sigh... Can you send a message to (who else) gothic_metal and tell xem to stop adding country-related version descriptions where they're not necessary? See for example here; the only label that has ever released the album is Sevared Records, and there's only one pressing of it in existence, but xe's adding "US" to the version description even though it's obviously not a "regional" release as far as this website is concerned.

Hrm. Is that really that big of a deal? She is doing a pretty thorough job regarding the new feature. I have been adding the country as well, but the only albums I have dealt with have multiple versions with a good bit of variance. I get what you are saying about it being "assumed" if it is the only pressing/edition. Honestly, people putting "jewel case" in the description field (what else would it be if it isn't a digipak or other specified format O_o) bothers me just as much. I sent her a message elucidating why it isn't always required in any event.

It is kind of a problem in cases like this - if I see "US" I think there are other versions too. Doesn't make any sense.

Exactly. To me, adding "jewel case" to the version description is just literally describing the physical product, in the same way adding a vinyl color to a version description is, and that seems fine to me. Adding a country label to an album with only one pressing would be like labeling it as "deluxe edition" when there's only one version available. It implies that there's an alternative which doesn't exist.
