The album's actually really good, I thought I'd have to write the band off totally but it's quite a return to form (albeit a different style from the early albums that I really rated Keep of Kalessin for)

Keep of Kalessin is not a band you want to abbreviate.

Just imagine in the combined with Corrosion of Conformity and became Corrosion of Conformity Kalessin :P

I never even bothered with their last album due to the overwhelmingly negative reaction. Armada and Kolossus were damn good though, if the new one is in that vein i'll be stoked.

While on one hand the black metal element is essentially gone, it also feels like a few bands have been making this modern sound work for them, Keep of Kalessin sounds like one of them now. I was actually pretty surprised with the quality of the riffing and although it still does sound a little "flat" to me, it's so full of energy that it's hard to want to put down.

wow, this sounded awful, much worse than I had expected. first I thought it was tom angelripper singing, then the song went all modern suddenly with strange kitsch effects on the vocals and was finally ruined by these cheesy lead guitars that went exactly nowhere.

they've been getting progressively worse for years in my book. I'm sure there'll be enough people into this though.

If you can't write interesting music then maybe save the 7-10 minute songs for bands who can. I want my hour back.

I will listen to the full album soon. But the new song is really good, great riffs and I like the combination of clean vocals and more black metal oriented vocals. I am glad that the last singer is out of the band because I hated his voice. At least this one is more convincing and closer to bm standards.

LOL! I could NEVER get into this band and never bothered too much, really.

I guess I will give it a listen sooner or later but I can't bring myself to be excited over this. While Reptilian as a whole was not as awful as that Dragontower abortion (thank fuck!), it still felt rather bloated and bland compared even to just Kolossus, which I still consider a fun listen from time to time. I think not getting another vocalist wasn't a great idea, I'm afraid Obsidian Claw might be getting a bit of spotlight fever here, and that rearely turns out for the better.

Yeah, ever since I discovered his brother (Khonsu) makes way more interesting music I've completely given up on Keep of Kalessin.

I can't speak for the new album yet, but I loved that song "Introspection" that they unfurled a couple years ago.

I purchased today the gatefold double clear trasparent vinyl edition of the album, but I'm very disappointed with the layout. No lyrics, no booklet, no nothing. At least a download card for digital version would have been appreciated, but you'll find none here.
Since vinyl releases are more expensive than the cd's nowadays, if you have in mind to buy this album be aware that the vinyl isn't worth its price.

The first four songs are awesome and the last two are also great. The worst part is the middle part of the album which contains some boring songs.
