By accident YouTube started playing a Folk Metal song by Лютавер'е (Lutavierje). I love their songs on the Split with Яр, and their debut full length "Песнi Налiтых Хмарау"

Лютоверье - В диком поле:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuyQJ4KkNy4

Лютоверье - Ой студено море:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OXm3m5t2ks

I also love the second song by Яр on the split, it's the demo verion of this song Яр - Шчодры Вечор (Demo Version) but haven't been able to find the entire demo yet:
http://ololo.fm/search/%D0%AF%D1%80/%D0 ... 0%BE%D1%80

On lastFM they're both listed under the tag "Za rus v rot ebus" no idea what this means. I'm craving for more but I'm not able to find anything similar!

Uhm haha found this on the web:
"Za rus v rot ebus" in Russian "За русь в рот ебусь" meaning "Blowing dicks for Russian Motherland" is an ironic tag, used by Russians for neonazi performers.

Anyways I have found some comfort in it:

"Грай (Graj) - О Земле Родной"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBRQlYEa_h0

"Свентояр (Sventoyar) - Преданий Вечный Зов"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klu2G8YGHlU

"Аркона (Arkona) - от сердца к небу"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5OyOVv4jIQ

Any other recommendations would be very welcome.

Where can I find some mid-paced Viking metal resembling Isengard or Nordavind?
Maybe with a fair amount of folk instrumentation, but also with screamed and cleanly sung vocals.

mostly in Scandinavia

I've always lumped these tracks in the a la Isengard category.

no idea.
Skald added some instrumentation on a later album a la Otyg, but I can't think of anything like that which resembles Isengard.

Great post Erotetic, thanks!

With little over 1500 entries in advanced search I can't believe how small the Folk genre is though unfortunately the little ones like Белодух and Ahti are missing.

hmm. I never really thought about it comparatively, before. to me it's big because I can barely keep up! looks like it's comparable to melodic black metal, though, which you might expect (comparable to a subgenre (melodeath, symphpower, etc.) rather than a genre (death/black/power)

if you're being thorough, you also have to go through 'pagan' and 'viking' tags to look for folk metal listed under a different genre :P

and then there's all the mittelalter and folk rock that is musically indistinguishable from some stuff on the archives but which for whatever reason isn't added or was added and not accepted to the archives...

I'm focusing on russian/belarusian/ukrainian stuff for now since that was what I was looking for in the first place. I was listening to my favourite Kiborg song and got lucky when YouTube hooked me up with Lutavierje, can't het enough of it now :)

Киборг (Kiborg) - Евпатий Коловрат
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIi6rlVULaU

Thanks, I will start looking into viking and pagan as well!

Thank you very much for this list! Some of it sounds great, but please do not link me to any neo-Nazi affiliated bands like Fjörd. Thank you.

My favourite albums from Belarus are now:
Молот (Molot) - Уваскрашэнне Герояу (2010)
Лютавер'е (Lutavierje) - Рось (2010)
Камаедзiца (Kamaedzitca) - Вернасць (2011)

Also the last 3 songs of the Родогост (Rodogost) demo should have been an EP, love it. The other ones I found remain just good songs, the full albums didn't do it for me.

I've been looking for an album like Молот's with clean vocals ever since I got the Nitberg "Nitsanger" EP, it's killer!

Камаедзiца - Вернасць is awesome, somehow missed them myself, thanks! Where's the song you linked "Гімн Бэларусам" comming from? Can't find it on the albums?

I don't quiz musicians on their philosophical opinions, I just listen to music.

Yes I found the split as well, the Naisha Vaina recording I couldn't find but presumed it was the same song under the Камаедзiца name but found the split now, thanks.

Haha this is unbelievable, only one third through Russia and already knees deep in Folk. It's gonna take some time to sort it all out!

The Рдяный Вран Зари demo has great clean male vocals as well:

maybe you'll like Wolf Rahm in the vein of Litvintroll:

A page ago I said Enslaved's RIITIIR was devoid of emotion, I'm still not a fan of the progressive aspect of the album but I was wrong about the emotion stuff. That guitar solo on Materal is pure feels.

I love it, just by coincidence I found him covering a Rodosvet song on ololo and was sold. With another viking band with the same name even LastFM list is useless though... I need something similar to get me going. You can listen the album here: https://myzuka.org/Album/400176/Dagaz-% ... D0%B8-2012

Yes I love the second Nezhegol song! Tverd I got myself yesterday but I didn't like Veles, wrong mood perhaps because I do now, thanks!

The Яровит album "Край" is good as well.

I assume Sokyra Peruna are (you don't cover a Skrewdriver song unless you're some kind of racist/nationalist fuckwit, even if it's a great song).
their acousticy album (...I Mertvym I Zhyvym I Ne Narodzhenym...) was nice. the rest of what I've heard is pretty much cookie-cutter RAC.

although this one's from their 2010 album Slovo, which I think is also all acoustic ballad'y

no politics, but one of the best acoustic tracks ever is Врани Волоса's cover of Bathory's "Man of Iron"

All Skrewed Up is one of my favourite Oi! records! I liked the Honor cover Sokyra Peruna did on that record but you already posted that, rest of the record didn't really add up though I kinda like the first track as well. I got that The Last Drakkar compilation but still have to go through it. Гомоніла Україна was great, thanks!

I have 2 recquests.

1. Folk metal that is a mix of country or bluegrass with metal. I would prefer for the bands to be neo-confederate. I don't want the band to be openly racist but I would like for them to have some southern pride and be against the north. I know Pancitpocion or whatever that band is called. I remember liking but not loving his music. Though the stuff I heard by him was not a mix of country/bluegrass and metal. Even so the band is pretty much the opposite of what I am looking for ideaologically. Feel free to recommend me bands that are not confederate or patriotic in terms of ideaology but I would prefer bands with such and ideaology.

2. Pagan Celtic metal with cleans vocals. I want to find bands with clean vocals, especially female clean vocals. Ideaologically I want the bands to be Pagan and patriotic and I would prefer for the lyrics to be in Celtic languages. I know Cruachan. Them but with most songs in Celtic languages would be exactly what I am looking for. Sadly not alot of Celtic bands seem to have lyrics in Celtic languages when Slavic and Germanic bands often have lyrics in their native languages. This must be because most Celtic languages are unfortinately not spoken by many people and a good chunk of Celtic bands are made of people that are not Celtic.
