Is this worth looking into?
Another Phoenix from Sweden: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vDS6xNFi5g
Reported by David 1998: http://www.metal-archives.com/report/view/id/529712
Band: http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Phoenix/31648
Any mention in that Swedish metal book?

EDIT: I see. The book's about death metal only. Hmmm...

It looks like the page was originally for the older band but was hijacked for the newer band. See the v1 page. So, the Phoenix we should be looking at submitting is the newer one since the older one was the one that was accepted. It's metal anyway :).

Which brings us to:

One for sale here: http://www.discogs.com/Phoenix-Say-Good ... se/5849576
Full EP:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8nys6XxInk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDC4_gSpmR8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6rGQo6uoO8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccpzyRvBT64

So I'd submit this one and then clean up the old page. More info about the older band here.

Not metal. - Black Heath Coven
Spoiler: show
Drone/Noise, Doom Metal
United Kingdom
https://www.facebook.com/BlackHeathCoven

Not so much an obscure band, but samples are hard to come by. I submitted them with their first tape, Cavern of Mantras (http://blackheathcoven.bandcamp.com/), but it didn't make the cut for metalness. They released a second tape, Erratic Glacial Haze, but aside from a 62 second clip at http://beartownrecords.com/catalogue.html, I can find no samples. If anyone wants to gamble £4 on a purchase, or see if they can get files from the band on Facebook, they may make the cut with the second demo tape.

Thanks for the post.
Cleaning what exactly, Halloween? Do you think the demo belongs to the other Phoenix?

Sorry, I wrote that in haste. The demo does belong to the older Phoenix. The tracks can be seen on New Brand's first demo. The band was actually submitted as the older Phoenix (see the date the releases were added and v1). The page was later hijacked and updated with the line-up and details of the newer Phoenix. By cleaning, I meant reverting the page back to the older Phoenix and then submitting the newer Phoenix as a new band. I'm pretty sure the band picture is of the older Phoenix, though.

I hope that makes sense.

Done, just have to wait for the band to be accepted to move the EP over.

Also added Black Heath Coven to OP.

This band was submitted by lunaboy at some point, who allegedly owns a copy, but -charming person that he is- he refused to share samples. If anyone else has this record and/or is willing to provide music or at least a description of it, please speak up.

Azmodes wrote:
Regarding Apprentess, Antioch managed to dig up a video of their bass player Tom Bettini (later of Jakyl fame) talking about his personal history as a musician. He mentions the band at one point, describing them as "hardcore metal" ("hardcore" as an adjective, not the punk genre, given the context/intonation). There's also some photos included of the band playing live, which look, well, pretty metal. Yeah yeah, I should know better, looks being deceiving and all, but might be worth considering taking a leap of faith here...

This fucking band... I got a hold of Bettini on Facebook, but he seems to visit his profile only very sporadically. All I got from him so far was that he owns a copy of the single "somewhere", but nothing digital. I asked him to describe the music, but he hasn't responded to that yet.

Another member, guitar player Aaron Freeman, I found here, but that's from 2009 and all the contact info/links are inaccessible/dead. That name is nigh-impossible to google or look up on Facebook (last place of residence appears to be Melbourne, Florida, but even with that I can't find anything). Maybe he can be contacted through some of the other bands he mentions in that post, haven't checked up on those yet. I also found the IA'd homepage of a canvas awnings business he has/had going on, but the email is of course dead. This is also him.

One other member's name is Larry Cunningham.

Hard rock. Quit Bitch'n
Spoiler: show
(heavy metal/hard rock/NWoBHM, United Kingdom)
Basically, check this website. A lot of demos (and other incarnations) are detailed there. The band was submitted not too long ago, but I rejected it asking about demo distribution, and it hasn't been returned since. So I'm posting this here so they won't be forgotten. One of the bands, Widow, is already listed and from what I remember, Quit Bitchn'n qualifies as metal as well (some rock too, though, so it would be advisable to suss out which demos are actually valid). Can't remember the other band right now.

Regarding Apprentess, I talked to Aaron Freeman and long story short, he describes their sound as "heavy metal for our time, Kinda Iron Maiden meets Judas Priest, our singer could hit notes only dogs could hear". He might be able to upload some sound clips, but that may take time. I think it's fair enough to add the band with the accumulated information so far, though. Let the outraged lunaboy visitor reports commence!

No sign of VR. - Warrator (heavy metal?, Austria)
Spoiler: show
Alleged metal band from St. Pölten, Lower Austria. This is basically my only concrete source. Split-up, may have no releases.

EDIT: Found their old site, http://www.warrator.at.tc, and it redirected to this. I can't really find anything about a release, though. Seems they had two previous names, Contradiction and Lords of Avator. Might be a good idea if you read the bios and looked through it all, hah.

Also found a sample. Found here. It's tagged track 3 from an unknown album which makes me think it was on a CD.

Likely no VR. - Killer Spirit (progressive metal?, Austria)
Spoiler: show
Described as "melodic metal" here and as "dark melodic metal with progressive influences" in this article (in German). The article is from December 2006 and they mention that the band is working on demo recordings, implying that there wasn't anything released at the time. May never have released anything.

Added. Oracle (heavy metal/rock, Austria)

The third column here seems to imply that there is a release, but not exactly sure... Music seems largely ok, but a larger sampling might be needed. This email address still appears to work: [email protected]

That site's songs section has a "On CD?" checkbox. Dunno if that is credible.

I think I've come across that article before. Unfortunately, although there is some bio and sound info, nothing about a release. There is a reference to a longer interview, but I couldn't locate it on that site.

Nope, lots of songs, but no release. Seems they wrote almost everything under the Contradiction moniker too.

Halloween wrote:

This one was also first written under the name Contradiction. Dunno about it being a CD; the date in the tags is February 2004, but the site trawled in July/October 2004 has no mention of any merch other than a patch. It might just be from a sampler from a band contest they won (EDIT: k, that contest was in April, apparently). It's frustrating, a ton of song material on that site, but seemingly no proper release.

Points in the right direction, but hardly conclusive. I've sent them an email. If I get no answer, I'll try to track down individual members.

Yeah, that's what I meant with "seems to imply that there is a release". Combined with the pic of the drummer holding a CD this might fly, but I'd still like to do some more digging. More tracks couldn't hurt either.

I can't really find much more on any of the bands. I even saved and grep'd all the pages in Warrator's link section and came up with almost nothing; only a few show mentions and link sections. They seemed to have been more active under the name Contradiction, so if there is a release out there somewhere, I would guess it would be under that. Their site was contradiction.net.tc, but it redirects to the same place as the Warrator url on IA.

Here are a few more bands, though.

Added. - Infinit Insanity (death metal, Germany)
Spoiler: show
-Exemption -Promo 2014- (2014, CD)
1. Deformed (6:36)
2. Pedophile Bastard (3:31)
3. Revelation (5:42)
4. Godlike (6:08)
5 Infinit Insanity (7:09)

Current:
Martin K. - Vocals
Tobias H. - Guitar
Past:
Mahoney - Guitar
Schwabi - Bass
Matze - Drums

After finding this band linked on some old band's webpage, I spent an hour or so digging through their website on the IA. If only I had used google, I would have found that they were still active and had a possible release. See here and here. The full CD is on soundcloud, as well. I'm not sure if it was available to the public, though. Worth a contact, at least. Probably more members and information about dates on their bio in German.
Facebook
Soundcloud
Website

Needs research. - Inhellation (death/black metal, Sabula, Iowa, United States)
-Beneath the Shroud or Beneath the Shroud of Turin (CD-R, 200?)
includes tracks "Hail Satan", "War is Greed" and "Shades of the Cross"

Jack Jachino - Guitars (1998-?)
Tim Dogg (Tim White) - Drums (1999-?)
Tim Geerts - Vocals, Guitars (1998-?)
Nicko Lauritzen - Bass
Chazz Perez - Producer, Manager

Metal-wise, this is fine: sample. The merchandise page mentions the release, but the broken image's name is "avsoon", so at the time the page was archived it might have been still coming soon. I tried contacting all the e-mails on the contact page, but they are all dead.
Website links:
http://www.angelfire.com/ia/inhellation/
http://web.archive.org/web/200012050729 ... hellation/

Needs research. - Glozgerdomus (black metal, Finland)
-Karu Pohjola (1999?, Tape/CD?)

Ebenoth Seriah - Everything (Also in Tuonela)

All I can find is this website that mentions a prospective release and that the band was formed in 1998. I could not find any indication anywhere online that it was actually released, though. Tuonela's line-up seems incomplete or possibly wrong, so I'm not sure if this guy is unlisted or one of the already listed members.

Needs research. - Corax Obitus (black metal?, Poland)
-Demo I (1998, Tape, Necrovargis Productions?)
1. Mask of Things to Come (0:30)
2. Mask of Things to Come (Remix Version #1) (0:50)
3. The Final Showdown (0:30)
4. The Facing of Satan (0:34)
5. Kill the Catholic Church-Death of the Pope (0:33)
6. Face Death As It Comes (1:07)
7. Necrophilus Maniacus (0:47)

Lord Axemaster of Dwylth - Drums, Percussion
Baron de Eradicator of the Living - Guitars, Vocals

See this link. I'm probably pushing it with this one, but it might turn out to be metal. Not sure if it would cut it length-wise. The tape was available and there were samples, but they cannot be found anywhere. At least 3 people on last.fm have them. If someone has a last.fm account and wants to try to contact someone to see if they still have them, please do.
EDIT: I found a way to contact a band member.

@Infinit Insanity: Have yet to check this, but from a glance, the second-to-latest post on their FB about the promo-CD has someone asking for a copy and the band tells him "sure dude". The guy might have been involved with recording it our something, though, since he's also tagged in the pic.

EDIT: Asked them on FB.

Not Metal. - Force (Sweden)
Spoiler: show
I've asked a question about the blacklisted band Force (Sweden) and the reason for their exclusion: hard rock/AOR.
I think this is correct but they also have "Live at Centrumgården, Upplands Väsby, 1981" and it's metal for sure:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEO8xxpm6cY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nRbnKRoTOo

Was it released in physical format somehow? Please help with this.

Regarding Force (Swe): Not only was their live material released only as a bottleg, but it is also a pre-Europe band and the majority of their material was later re-recorded for the Europe self-titled debut album. The Europe versions are very similar to the Force material and to call the Force originals to be "certainly metal" is a bit of a stretch. You can also see, that he Force live and studio material is labelled as "hard rock" on Discogs.com, as is the early Europe material. I also know from a discussion from 2007, that the site owners sconsider the first EEurope album to be still more hard rock than metal, so the origianl poster would have to convince them first, anyway. https://www.discogs.com/Europe-The-Forc ... se/6171936

I threw a message his way and I'll see what comes of that. I made a quick check and saw that he's still friends with 3 other former members of the band, so if he can't help, perhaps they can. Thanks for the lead.

I got a response. It's (evidently) public, the guitarist is going to send me a copy.

No releases. Ferrum Noricum (Austria, pagan/black metal)
- Treasury of Styrian Merits (2007/08?)
I've been sitting on this one for a while. I'm assuming these guys are from Styria, based on the album title and the Styrian coat of arms on the relatively empty Myspace page. And it's really just that one page online, maybe there used to be some bio on there, but since they wiped all that... Also not available on IA. There are six reasonably well-made songs of pagan/black metal on there, grouped as a sort of release. Three are dated from 2007, three from 2008, so maybe it's really just a collection of recordings (and indeed, production seems to differ). Or maybe there were two demos.

The band name makes it somewhat hard to google, "ferrum" is Latin for "iron" and "Noricum" was a Roman province covering most of what is now Austria and parts of Slovenia. It denotes a sort of steel from back then. You can imagine that it's not unusual to see it used online, locally, for usernames or websites about old swords or whatever. I haven't been able to find any results that refer to the band, except the Myspace page.

Hi Guys,
Nice to hear that someone likes my music ;) was even surprised someone´s talking about anno 2015.
although the topic is long ago I want to explain whats behind Ferrum Noricum and Treasury of Styrian Merits:

It still is a one-man project of me, Baro from Graz. Due to i couldn´t find any pleasant bands I decided to start a one-man project called Ferrum Noricum. Besides guitars I tried to teach myself drums on Roland V-Drums, that why the drums are sometimes out of rhythm and chaotic. and to be honest singing will never be one of my talents

I raised up this myspace site to find some other musicans to have good times in rehearsal rooms, record some stuff and/or perform live.
Unfortunately this never occurred, but FN is still "active" but without any releases since i sold many recording stuff.

So I anyone may read this and is interested just contact me :)

Cherrs, Baro

This was submitted recently, the release is valid (tape), but no samples and the guy hasn't resubmitted since.

http://www.metal-archives.com/albums/Ha ... Out/543385

this album was added to the Hammer i can't find any information that connect both. In my opinion are two different bands, specially because on cdbaby says "Debut E.P. from 80's style retro metal/N.W.o.B.H.M. revivalists Hammer." And one is from Middlesborough and the another is from West Midlands.

This youtube video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-N3qoq ... lpage#t=59

at around a minute says written, performed and recorded by someone. I can't quite make it out because of the font, but it looks like Johan P? Alen, which is probably the Jon Paul Allen guy, so yeah different band.

They also have their own facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/Hammer-1602349216714949

And a cd, so it can be submitted:

This is a late reply, but that's pretty funny. I found a completely different Ferrum Noricum, woops . At least we filled out Katjuscha's page a little more..

Here are some more bands!

Needs research. - Autumns Black (death/doom metal?, Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, USA)
- Forced Forever (Demo)
- Towers Upon (CD?)
Line-up:
Jerry Kirker - Guitars, Vocals (harsh)
Kevin Martin - Drums, Vocals (backing)
Paul Adams - Bass, Vocals (clean)
Former Line-up:
Mike Brown (Kesagake, UnderRedSky) - Guitars, Vocals (backing)

The band call themselves alternative metal, but overall it sounds like heavy/death metal with some doom parts. There's more in there than that, but I don't really know what else to call it. I found this on their myspace page, so there might be a physical release for Towers Upon. I would feel more comfortable submitting with more than a blurry picture with no context, though.
Here are some samples:
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default ... tent=music
https://myspace.com/autumnsblackpittsburgh/music/songs
http://www.angelfire.com/music6/autumnsblack1/
Another website:
http://web.archive.org/web/200404052030 ... ck/Autumns

Needs research. - Polttouhri (black metal?, Finland)
- ? (CD, EP)
Line-up:
Kvaihn - Guitars, Bass, Synthesizers
Throdd Dominicus Noktcul - Vocals
V.F.Thorghar - Drums

According to their homepage, they released an ep on CD. I have no indication of genre other than this website, which is "Dedicated To True Unholy Underground Black Metal", but I'd still like to see samples as well as conclusive release proof.

Needs research. - Blackened Dreams (gothic/black metal, Canada)
-Blackened Dreams (CD)

I have a draft of this, but never submitted because I didn't have any samples and there were indications it might not actually be black metal. Here are my submission notes:
Spoiler: show
Pictures of release being sold at a show here:
http://blackeneddreams.deep-ice.com/livepics.html
http://blackeneddreams.deep-ice.com/ex18.jpg
http://blackeneddreams.deep-ice.com/ex19.jpg

Mentions of a CD for sale:
http://web.archive.org/web/200411061536 ... MS/20.html
http://web.archive.org/web/200411301247 ... AMS/7.html

Can't really find any samples, but several references to genre:
Described self as "gothic black metal":
http://blackeneddreams.deep-ice.com/tour.html

Member describes that they were going in a black metal direction and they wanted to change that with some samples of their later work:
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default ... dID=114394

Review of a gig mentioning that the band was judged incorrectly because of the person's feelings toward death/black metal:
http://blackeneddreams.livejournal.com/6112.html

However, they refer to themselves as gothic metal here and another band calls them "hard goth rock" here.

Here is another band, but it will take me a while to write up properly because there is a lot of information, but if someone wants to look into it before I get to that:
Needs research. - World of Walls
http://web.archive.org/web/200308111732 ... estore.htm
https://www.reverbnation.com/worldofwalls/songs
If metal covers of Christmas songs are acceptable like other covers of classical/public domain songs, then it can just be submitted. I'm not sure if all of those songs are public domain so someone would have to check, though. They have another album so that might not even be needed if we could find samples of it.

Likely no VR. - Illuminati (Macedonia (FYROM), symphonic black/death metal?)
Spoiler: show
- Demo I (2005, 4-track rehearsal demo)
An earlier name of the Macedonian Storm, see the additional notes. The music is probably ok, but more info on the release needed.

Regarding Illuninati (Macedonia) : According to the bio below, the four track rehearsal demo from 2005 was entirely instrumental and the band apparently does not count it as an official rlease, their consider their official release to be the first demo released under the name "Storm" in 2006, so there are serious doubts, if the demo was even publicly released. Another obscure band. Can anyone provide me a source or something about their album "Plutonian Herd"? On Discogs said it was release on CD, but I can't find any picture of the release. Here is a link about this band that I found.

You're fine, this is the right thread.

Anyway, the Discogs entry was submitted from web sources (which they don't even allow), so we can ignore that. I can't really find anything other than this that mentions a promo, but that doesn't count as a physical release.

However, there is a thread on RYM that says it was available for download from the band's own blog, so that may actually be where it came from and not an actual CD. The images on Discogs seem to be digital images rather than scans, as well. Maybe it could be submitted with that as digital proof? I'm not really sure about the metalness, though.

Added. - Eternity's Voice (Germany, heavy metal?)
Spoiler: show
- The Revelation (1990, demo, cassette)
- The Seven Bowls of God's Wrath (1990, demo, cassette)

All information taken from m-s.de, no samples or other info to be found. Only a single owner for both tapes on m-s.de, best bet is probably to contact them.

Related Comments:

Regarding Eternity's Voice: They are now listed on Discogs.com with detailed information about their two demos. Both demos are listed under the "heavy Metal" tag there. See: https://www.discogs.com/artist/6553607-Eternitys-Voice

Azmodes wrote:
Yeah, I'm aware. They were added by the same guy who created the m-s.de entries. He said he was going to try and rip his tapes for me, but that was back in August. I'll check again soon, I guess.

Azmodes wrote:
I got both Eternity's Voice demos in full. It's a mix of neoclassical heavy metal and... neoclassical without metal. Need to check it further.

Added. - Aliens
Spoiler: show
- Nervous Breakdown (demo, cassette)

Same as for EV. See: https://www.musik-sammler.de/artist/aliens-2/ Probably not the Hungarian band on MA. Some of information is legible on the uploaded inlay and the lineup is different as well as the address being F?bergstraße 20, so probably Germany or some other German-speaking country.

It's the same guy who added it to Musik-Sammler, so Az might have done that already.

This is the same guy who added the Eternity's Voice demos and he doesn't have any means of ripping tapes by himself. He told me he paid someone else to do it for EV. I might eventually ask him for the Alien tape as well, but I don't want to push it for now.
