Hell yeah! No Security were most likely the best of all the Swedish Käng bands, their split with Doom is even better!
Also one can never go wrong with some Finnish hardcore.

I'm listening to this before going to work today (more käng)
Abuse - Bomba För Frihet Eller Döda För Gud
https://youtu.be/RPp9nJNb-J8?t=801

Kängpunk and Finn hardcore are the two best things to come out of Scandinavia.

Anyone hear the new remaster of Amebix's Monolith? While the original version will always be one of my favourite albums of all time, they did such an unbelievably good job here. Everything sounds so big, clear and powerful but it doesn't really lose its feral bite. I discovered that they had already done the same thing for Arise! too, and the bonus addition of Beyond the Sun was amazing. Highly recommended, especially if the rough production was a barrier to you.

I think you'd like it seeing as in your review you said the production was the main problem for you. And yeah new Martydod is great, amazing melodies.

Haven't heard it, and probably don't want to if it's a nothing but brickwalled shit job. From your description, my guess is you're probably someone easily fooled by compression and loudness war tricks. I would love to see the DR numbers for these remasters.

There is nothing wrong with my old HM Recs CD. I listened to the album cranked up on the stereo a couple weeks ago and it sounded fine. It doesn't need to be "fixed", and you can't "fix" production errors with mastering anyway.

RE: Monolith, the AT CD from 2000 is fine also, with reasonable dynamic range.

Is street punk a thing? And if so, what are some notable bands from the style. I don't trust Wikipedia so that's why I'm asking this.

Depending on who you ask it's either a made up subgenre or is used to a describe UK/UK-inspired 2nd/3rd/4th/nth wave punk bands that play tough, midtempo punk rock.

Lyrics are usually apolitical or lean toward Oi!-esque topics. Most bands doing the style after the 80s (and even during the 80s) range from okay to godawful IMHO.

Personally I'd rather listen to bands like Cock Sparrer, UK Subs, Stiff Little Fingers, The Ruts, etc. than most self-proclaimed "street punk" bands that are around today.

I'd also recommend Deviated Instinct, Zoe (Japan), Swordwielder, (early) Neurosis ala Pain of Mind/Word is Law/Souls at Zero and Stormcrow.

I'd also check out Zygote if you want an Amebix related project to scope.

Mostly it's just Oi, or used interchangably. The Restarts are a good & very enjoyable case.

Might not be exactly what you are looking for but worth a try I reckon.

Black Breath
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGej0qn6CQo

Shitfucker

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zB8N31M_bI

Excoriate

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IN5g2K5Qo9M

Demolition Hammer

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFN9x6yE-iw

You'll probably get more accurate recs on the death or thrash metal threads.

Here's a fun query. While gyming this morning, Baptists's "In Droves" came on me playlist and I realized immediately I needed to put it on repeate and squat the entire gym, overweight housewives and all.

Impressed by the awesome power of this track, I'm looking for similar tracks from different artists while I wait (patiently) for a new Baptists CD.

Cheers!

- Savage

^I shared one of their songs here not too long ago. Savage shit indeed.

He is the one I'm talking about; Spoke the Cancerous Void. That fucking breakdown at the end is monstrous.

Xibalba

Shitshifter

Edit: You've probably heard this one but this my goto gym track. Some of the heaviest riffs ever conceived in this particular style. I present Nails' Wide Open Wound.

* Aye, yaaz! This one hits hard! Cheers!

Cheers for the recs! Feedback inline!

Good stuff, the grindy bits remind me of The Drip somewhat, check it out if you haven't already. Killer riffing & massive tone on this one:

Came across this beast of thrashy Japanese crust.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEIXfYv75WA
No youtube links for the last 3-way split with Dorag, Disturd & Disgunder (2016) so this will do.

Only the Japanese know how to play this kind of crust. Also track down that 3-way split, totally worth it for the Disturd songs!

Edit: Another https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxb359FU9mA
Some of these songs are also on the 3way split (but has been re-recorded)

I bought all the Amebix remasters on vinyl and I was very pleased with the results. Huge sound, very powerful, but still raw and aggressive. You hear the connections more now between their earlier works and Sonic Mass, imo.

Anyone here dig Police Bastard? Features previous members of Doom & Sore Throat. Standard d-beat, though more energetic than most.

I'm looking for "melodic" grindcore if that makes sense. More specifically, I'm trying to find bands that sound like Wormrot's Voices.

Try checking out track no 2, Hollow Roots.

Another example would be Gridlink.

So if anyone can find more bands along these lines it would be great. Cheers.

How about Beaten to Death? Don't mind the video title, there is no death metal here. Shoegaze/post-rock & somewhat proggy sort of vibe here.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYHTZPdQEPw

Liberteer, perhaps?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ET3LkT ... R5JB_bCKF0

...& now for something completely different; Anaal Nathrakh. Industrial elements, deranged black metal shrieks, epic operatic choruses, blastasfuck, melodic riffage with blackened overtones. One of their recent more accessible works:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SawcZVumIDA

Edit: You should try the dedicated grindcore thread as well.
