Well shit, I don't trust Plastic Head to get anything right so I'll just go hunt down an original or two.

Are they known for some crummy releases? I saw that previous comment earlier about them being involved with one of the 2CD reissues at one point, but I'm too lazy to dig any further for that.

Really though, I myself have no reason to get this boxset either since I've got pretty much all their stuff in some format or another that doesn't have any audio issues, but I figure at this point I may as well go for broke in case they actually fix the glitch on this thing.

Regarding the Holy Terror reissue, what is the glitch that is being mentioned? Maybe it's just me but I'm not hearing an issue, but then again I don't have an original CD to compare to (though I wish I did...), or I'm just missing it completely. Is it during A Fool's Gold, Terminal Humor or Mind Wars?

You know those slapped together LP reissues from Back on Black and Let Them Eat Vinyl with the pixelated, blown-up CD artwork? You can thank Plastic Head for those.

Also, apparently Death SS are having their first three albums reissued by Shadow Kingdom Records in the near future. I've never actually listened to them, but I've seen their name tossed around a lot over the years, so I think I'll get on that now that their stuff's being reissued.

http://bravewords.com/news/death-ss-sig ... ree-albums

Looks like these came out last month. I was in a record store today and stumbled upon the first and third album on CD, and am currently enjoying the first record. This is really unique stuff with a lot of character. It's so hard to categorize because it goes all over the place.

Also, seems like a lot of Celtic Frost's stuff just got a reissue. I picked up To Mega Therion since I've never heard it. Looking forward to it.

OK got ya, I must have misread earlier about "A Fool's Gold/Terminal Humor/Mind Wars" being split being related to the glitch.

Now I remember hearing that glitch on the song. Been a while since I've listened to the album (changed jobs at work so no longer able to listen to music as much as I used to) and forgot about it.

EDIT: JEsus my reading comprehension is poor... earlier comment even said the song...

So, this isn't an upcoming reissue or anything, but I recently came across a 2017 edition of Carnivore's self-titled debut released by, and I kid you not this is the actual name, Flying Dolphin Administration lmao.

Don't know if it's limited to any copies (doubtful since it's in a standard jewel case), but just something to look out for in case it happens to be in any record stores near you folks.

Sacrosanct are finally having their albums reissued. Truth is, What Is gets reissued this fall, while Recesses of the Depraved and Tragic Intense get reissued next year.

Yep, I've been keeping an eye on their facebook page all year for news on these reissues. The only one I really care about atm is Recesses of the Depraved but we'll see.

I have no idea, but I assure you that's exactly what it says. And it's not a bootleg either.

Good news is it's a great album, bad news is, HH will probably see that it's compressed to all hell (think ~DR5).

Thanks, not bad. If they were done in a similar manner to the recent Kreator reissues they should sound quite good.

I'm surprised Somewhere Out In Space isn't part of this group, especially consider it turns 20 this year.

Somewhere Out In Space and Power Plant should be up next, right? Hopefully.

Yea they sound good to me i would image that Tankard has to be the next band that are getting re-releases.

This reissue will also include the rare "Hatred Within" track (at least on the CD version).

Mameli's been personally involved with these reissues of the first four albums, including the remastering process. I've no concerns that they'll sound just fine. "Consuming Impulse" will feature the original rejected artwork, by the way.

Remastering is far different and more improved over the last few years than it used to be. The industry got wise to the fact that no one was buying overly compressed static and are now doing their due diligence to ensure fans are getting a definitive product worth buying. Sure, there will still be outliers that clip, but substantially less than what used to be. Having the actual artists provide oversight and approval is a huge part of that which wasn't before.

Am I the only one that finds the official Consuming Impulse artwork more fitting and original than the rejected one? Not to mention terrifying. I think I'd rather be ripped apart by zombies than eaten alive by thousands of ants.

Here's the Dynamic Range of the other four re-releases:

Blazon Stone - DR7
Pile of Skulls - DR8
Black Hand Inn - DR7
Masquerade - DR8

Musical Hall is distributing Archivist Records reissues: Target "Mission Executed" (1987) and "Master Project Genesis" (1988) CDs (pretty unknown Belgian band; the first album is thrash, the second techno thrash a'la e.g. Mekong Delta (but better IMO)) and Living Death's "Worlds Neurosis" CD. All licensed from Aaarrg Records.

Master Project Genesis: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tt1TG3b961c

If you've got a list of highly dynamic remasters (e.g. DR9 or higher on CD) from recent years I'd love to know about them.

Most heavy metal remasters are shit. Besides the Earache FDR campaign, the only labels I've encountered that seem like they are really trying to put out dynamic reissues are High Roller Records and The Crypt/Dark Symphonies.

Nope. One of the most iconic and memorable death metal album covers in my opinion.

I know that Stormspell reissue was a long time ago, but I thought those Target albums were still pretty available.

Did a search and checked the usual suspects already, which is why I asked, dick. Looks like Dark Descent stocks the LP reissues but no CDs. I'll give it a few weeks and see if they show up at a U.S. Distro.

Thanks for posting this. The numbers are refreshing to see. How does it sound? I just emailed HH to ask if the BC download is the same as the upcoming CD, since I would prefer to wait for the physical CD version.

Sounds really great.

The download came with a pdf file of the LP artwork (front, back and inlay), so I would say it's the vinyl remaster.
The CD version will include a second disc with the demos. Double dip for me ;-)

Thanks for posting this. The numbers are refreshing to see. How does it sound? I just emailed HH to ask if the BC download is the same as the upcoming CD, since I would prefer to wait for the physical CD version.

Sounds really great.
