To clarify, I'm looking for metal bands that basically use the bass guitar as the main instrument.

The only examples I can think of are Talbot and Necromantia, doom/sludge metal and black metal (respectively).

You can Shrum's only album: they played death/sludge with two basses and featured Acid Bath's bass player

I'm not sure if they're *quite* metal enough, but I really enjoy Death Therapy (ex-Becoming The Archetype's singer's solo project). It's very groovy and industrial-y, but very enjoyable.

Riti Occulti

Blackened Stoner/Doom Metal with dual female vocals (one clean, one harsh).

You should check out Twin Lords:

https://twinlords.bandcamp.com

No guitars, just a bassist/vocalist and a drummer. Pretty hard to classify, sounds something like progressive powerviolence I guess, with some cool melodies that remind me of mid-period Death. Very unique and an entrancing atmosphere.

Cause For Effect? It's grind/jazz fusion but it's just bass and drums

Herscher are amazing. I've been listening to the s/t album for a month straight, which is also free on bandcamp. Enjoy.

Now for a higher level song like Moth Into Flame. I specifically remember getting in trouble at school for hearing this the day it was released for having my phone out and then defiantly saying to my teacher Fuck off Im listening to a new Metallica song

Neoandertals was going to be my main rec, I fucking LOVE that band. Geryon is another good one, guitar-less prog death featuring members of Krallice.
