So about 50 or so bands have been announced so far and more coming tomorrow morning (8-14-17) including a few headliners. What do you guys think of the lineup so far?

As for me they really need a few whoppers to get me totally pumped. Its cool that SINISTER are playing, and a few other obscure bands. But than again they are getting Gapcore 90's band HELMET to play, so that's saying something and goes against their commitment to keeping it underground in exchange for low prices and giving up the beloved Edison Lot.

I guess I am still onboard for this Fest, it's not the same as it was without the Edison and Ten dollar beers inside the venue plus limited food trucks and merch tables really made it feel alienating and corporate. In the end, I really feel they need to bring their A bands at tomorrows announcement or this Fest is just going to go down the drain like Milwaukee Metal Fest a decade or so ago.

I've got my all day all venue ticket, it's my fourth MDF (after 2010, 2015 and 2016) and I'm stoked! Sinister, God Dethroned, Master's Hammer, Bloodbath, Coven, Sadistic Intent, Wormrot are all great. I have nothing with Helmet (sorry conquer__all ;) ) and Ufomammut, but people need time to recuperate/eat too. Plenty of unknown stuff, get ready to be surprised ;)

Edison Lot was great, but by far not filled enough to keep it this way. The Sonar place was awesome, especially if you really don't want to miss whatever band; that place will never return, I guess. Ottobar is a cool place, see if there will be planned anything there.

My Dying Bride is onboard! This is great news since I missed them in 2014. More bands and individual day tickets go on sale at the end of August.

Wilytank nailed my thoughts perfectly. I wasn't planning on going this year but fuck. No god damn way am i missing Darkspace. Probably a once in a lifetime performance unless you live in or are willing to travel to Europe.

Another year, another lineup that doesn't appeal to me at all. At this rate I'll never make it to MDF. The only bands I'd like to see that don't regularly come to the US are Wormrot and Zemial. The rest are a big fat meh for me.

Last two bands are fucking lame. Satyricon and Inquisition. Whole big pile of suck.

I'm going all four days this year, but I only have the Thursday pass for Soundstage for Incantation and Defeated Sanity while the remainder days are for Ram's Head.

Yeah apparently Emperor was too expensive to bring to the states even though they got them on Deathfest's new shiny kid, NDF.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck, y'all, I'm a college brokeboi but I wanna go to this shit. Counting flights, hotels, merch, assorted shit, how much do y'all that have been before usually spend on a trip to MDF? Anybody here ever shared hotels to keep costs down or anything? This lineup has me losing my mind every time I look back at it, god damn.

MDF Prices for Wednesday - Monday

1 ticket - ~$250 +$15 for pre-show

1 roundtrip flight within US - ~$200 (This is with Delta. I am a tall guy so I need room. If you are small and dont give a shit, you can get a 100 dollar roundtrip ticket)

Hotel shared with 1 person - $375 (Hotel nearby at $150 a night)

Food - If you can get a hotel with free buffett, thats one meal a day. Lunch around $5-6 a day at chicken rico or greek food truck. Dinner around $7-10 depending on how classy you want to be. I found out about Blaze pizza here and I absolutely loved it. 8.25 for a personal pizza that'll fill you up no doubt. So about $20 a day if you are stingy for food. - 100$

Merch - Depends on how crazy you are. This will vary. You can easily spend on average 100-200 a day. I usually try to get a shirt or cd for everyday. Around 25 a day it'll be 100-150 for the whole trip

Alcohol/party favors - Will vary. Lots of liquor stores around. If you like beer, I recommend getting a case or 2 of Naty Boh (baltimore "light" beer) and keep it at the hotel for drinking. $30-40

So all in all, you should expect to pay 800-900 up front then bringing 300-400 to spend at the fest. Now, this is probably max for one person. You can definitely save money with more roommates, doing something else about food and missing out on merch (wouldnt recommend. You will leave wishing you would have). I would strongly recommend getting a close hotel so you dont have to spend money on Uber's and such, even if it a little pricier, it'll pay off for this reason.

This year i spent about $500 in four days just at the fest. For 2018 I've already spent over $700 just in buying the 4 day pass and booking my hotel. I'm staying by myself in 2018. 2017 the hotel only cost me about $80 cause we had 8 damn people in our room.

I'm definitely gonna have to think on it, but I think I may well be able to swing that. Funny enough, not being able to drink actually doesn't screw me too badly since it saves me cash
And jesus, 8 people? How big of a room were y'all in?

It was about a thousand dollars for my trip this year. I went only for three days, but about $500 was for the hotel (only me) and pass and about another $300 on merch (18 CDs and 3 shirts). I drove and didn't have to fly, but parking in the inner harbor is stupid expensive. Combined with gas, it was about $120 for travelling altogether. Staying another night might drive the expense up another $100-150, but by then I'll have some paid vacation time to even all that out. And by choosing the one day of Soundstage + 3 days of Rams Head option, I did cut $50 off the entry fee.

You only saved $50 by not getting the full pass? Doesn't seem worth it. Being able to bounce from stage to stage is nice.

Closer to like $70 with the proper math, but it's not like I'm dying to see goregrind like Sublime Cadaveric Decomposition or Lord Gore. :-P

godflesh. I must say that’s disappointing. I would rather have two lesser known English bands like Winterfellyth and A Forest of Stars then Godflesh. Well it will be an early night for me. Sucks MDB let their fans down like this.

I'm hoping either Darkspace or TRoB get the final slot so they have space to play an extended set. There was a good chance My Dying Bride would've gotten that spot, but I'd rather see a proper set from the former two bands.

MDB and Godflesh suck. If Darkspace doesn't get 45 minutes minimum I'm gonna riot.

"exclusive US show" I sure as shit hope so. Now it's a matter of Ram's Head not butchering their sound. Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult 3 years ago was unacceptable.

I started going in 2013, and 2017 was the first year I missed. The lineup looks sick this year though, so I'll definitely be around for a few days (as much I dislike Baltimore). Blood Incantation and Chthe'ilist are must-sees for me. It sucks that MDB had to drop off; I'm pretty sure I was there the night they played, but I wasn't really into them at the time, so I just chatted with some friends by the merch & food.

Chthe’ilist has canceled.

This is getting frustrating. Two of the bands I was most excited to see.

Still waiting on word of who will replace Zemial.
