If it's still there when I get paid Thursday, I'll pick it up. The album art alone looks pretty rad.

It's iffy to me, but it's cheap, if someone wants to check this one out:

Yeah, that album art is nuts, ahah. Also, I grabbed the Sapien tape. Logo looks metal at least. If not, another weird thing to add to my pile of failed gambles. :D

Nah, I don't think he'd go one-third as high for something like this. I was kidding. It's a scam, though, to call this metal.

Well, someone snagged the Black Metal Slavery tape already :ugh: Hopefully it was someone trawling this thread.

However, I did pick up a few I saw this morning, so hopefully there's some winners:

Added. - Malagamus Muck - Mournblade; Not Metal. - God Awful
Spoiler: show
- http://www.ebay.com/itm/Malagamus-Muck- ... Swa~BYQsyc
- http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mournblade-Ente ... SwCfdXonxZ

Well, it was almost perfect. Malagamus Muck and Mourneblade are pretty straight forward thrash. I might even venture far enough to say Malagamus Muck is good(ish). And after some searching, I'm pretty confident to say that Mourneblade is not one of the already listed entries by the same name. I'll have these both submitted as soon as I can get my USB recorder to work again. (PM me and I'll get a rip to anyone that wants one).

God Awful on the other hand...I don't even know what the fuck to call this. It's full of sporadic metal riffs sprinkled among non-metal wankery, odd progressions and off-beat time signatures, with prominent bass riffs and a shitty attempt at a power metal falsetto from the vocalist. I welcome a second opinion when I have the rips to share, but this one is likely a strike out.

Added. - Distortion (Germany?, Heavy Metal?)
Spoiler: show
- The End (1992, demo-tape)
1. The End
2. Open Your Coat
3. Temples of Sin
4. Ome Solution
5. The Eyes (of the World)

Extremely googleable name and title. This is all I have. This has to be another band than the three Distortion's we have listed, since the inlay is written in German (not sure on the country yet, though). I'm currently talking to the owner on MS.de, hopefully he can provide some photos and maybe even a rip. He says he bought it at a flea market for 50 cents, because it looked like metal. The note at the bottom of the MS.de entry quotes the band apologising for the sound quality on the B-side, resulting from a technical error during tape duplication. They were unable to do a second run for reasons related to time, money and legalities. So this tells us a bit about distribution/quantity.

The one track I could find ("Equlize the Difference") is undoubtedly metal, quite USPM-y. They are mentioned here along with the CD, but it says "For promotion only", so I'm hesitant to add. Still, it might be that the CD was also circulated publicly.

*Sources vary in the description.

I found an ex-member on FB and he's going to send me a CD copy for free! He also said that while the album was primarily a non-public promo, they did sell a few copies at gigs and on request, so that should be fine. Az the Sleuthinator strikes again. I'm no Zodijackyl, but I do have my moments.

Are you seriously arguing that an ambient demo with ten seconds of guitar should be considered a metal release?

Added. - Óstia Podre
Spoiler: show
- black/death metal from Campina Grande, Paraíba, Brazil.
Formed in 1988

There is a 1991 rehearsal on YouTube - the video contains a flyer/zine page, but I can't quite read all of it. This does confirm the band was formed in '88
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GP9Z7e6vGok

Gore Vomit covered the Óstia Podre song "Ritual" on their 1989 live demo.
https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/G ... nde/351387

Lord Blasphemate, a band formed in 1992, named Óstia Podre as an influence in this 2014 interview.
"Não posso deixar de citar também o Poison, Beleth, Ohura Mazda, Ghost Rider, Ostia Podre, Invoker, Mystifier e o Sarcófago. A cena extrema do Brasil no final dos anos 80 era de dar orgulho e com certeza influenciou boa parte do mundo."
http://www.arenametalpe.com.br/entrevis ... e-2014.htm

Members of Stomachal Corrosion helped reform Óstia Podre in 1991.
http://hmbreakdown.blogspot.com/2014/06 ... sto-e.html
"Em 1989 comecei a tocar em bandas Punx, Insania, Diarrhea. Depois passando para algo mais para o Metal também, com a Interitus e Óstia Podre (sem H mesmo). Em 1991 iniciei a Stomachal Corrosion, com membros que eram da SC, mas que ajudaram a reformular a nova Óstia Podre."

More mentions of "Hostia Podre" [sic] in a Stomachal Corrosion biography.
http://metalmaniacszine.blogspot.com/20 ... osion.html
Simple version: "Óstia Podre existed for several months, played two shows in Campina Grande, recorded two rehearsals as demo tapes, and ended."

Lineup (from YouTube video)
Jailton Satânico - Vocal
Aluízio Guimaraes - Guitarra https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... mit/702161
Charlie Curcio - Baixo https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... cio/659290
Pablo Ramires - Bateria https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... ires/69653

Óstia Podre is mentioned in the credits of several of these artists in different bands:

Delicta Carnis
"Abaddon já passou por várias hordas entre elas estão o Catacumba, Abaddon, Óstia Podre, Dibbuk, Gore Vomit, Violenthate e Misbeliever. Hellfrost"
http://www.delictacarnis.com/if_biografia.php

This biography of the band Stomachal Corrosion mentions that Óstia Podre recorded two rehearsal tapes.
https://www.facebook.com/Stomachalcorro ... 8384808317

It finally arrived, but unfortunately it's basically melodic, proggy hard rock.

Can't find proof that either release is valid, but I'm pretty sure the full-length at least is.

Submitted this yesterday. The validity of releases is no longer an issue. They sell their stuff via BigCartel and Bandcamp now; they'd been somehow dormant before.

Hi,
I tried to add this band some time ago and was rejected for lack of long enough samples. Since the band is from China and i don't speak the lenguage i was wondering if someone who knows chinese would be able to provide the full album stream.

MY SUBMISSION NOTES:
In all the following link the band is described as an old schoold grind act influenced by Napalm Death, Carcass and some thrash metal. Listening to the songs everything seems right, the only problem is that i found only two of them and they are really short. There are only 6 songs, including the two i found, the rest are a noise outro and 4 covers (all from accepted grindcore bands).

SONGS (on the douban link click on the songs Grind posers and Stench of the cultural revolution)

http://site.douban.com/hnp/
https://chinesegrindcore.bandcamp.com/t ... ind-posers

MESSAGE FROM MODERATOR:
Are you able to provide the full release for listening? Those two songs are both quite borderline (although not exactly short of metalness), and without knowing what the rest of the record sounds like, the band's music could go either way.

Keep in mind we don't judge a band's "metalness" based on cover songs: an artist needs to have provided original metallic material before they can be accepted.

Here is the full stream, but this is a Chinese-only music site. So you have to change your IP to a Chinese one to visit:

I am Demogrogon from this project. I can tell you that Destruction of Redemption (also used another translation: Destroy Redemption). They are working on their debut release currently. Hopefully there will be more raw / war Black Metal opus from them.

Hey, here's a project(?) I've been wondering about:

Destruction of Redemption

I recently saw that Chinese label Pest Productions was releasing an album by a new project called "Demogorgon" (which was denied into the archives because the album was 1 track metal and 1 track ambient). The trailer claimed that this project was the combined efforts of members of Zuriaake, Holyarrow, Demogorgon (who is apparently the alias of a person who used to edit a Chinese 'zine in the 90's), and Destruction of Redemption. However, I can't find any info on the last band on the label's website or just by searching the Internet.

I only know two things about the band:
1. The genre ("primitive black metal", meaning it might have one of those underground demo tapes instead of a full album, or it could have played a few gigs and broken up after a couple of years)
2. The logo http://website.pest666.com/store/p187/D ... now._.html (click on the second picture, the one with the description and images of the booklet. At the top you can three logos under "dilemma. revenge. snow." The left one is Destruction of Redemption's.

The only other supposedly helpful link I have is this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78K74e2nDQ0. It's a preview of Demogorgon's album that talks about the three bands and the project in general in the description.

Needs research. - The Guild (???, Thrash/Groove Metal?)
- Karma (1994, CD)
1. Masquerade
2. The Machine
3. Karma
4. Misanthrope
5. Alive
6. The Masochist
7. Nothingness
8. Candlemas [sic]

All info + samples from here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPDCd_67_SI

The tracklist is inferred from the above song cited as the first one and then going clockwise by what's on the disc. It sounds like metal, but experience has taught me to be careful with the Rare "Thrash" YT channel. He always only posts one song and a few subs based on that were later found to be grossly misleading (one example being a hardcore band, another an alternative rock band). So more samples -or at least a description of the album- are a must.

About this thing again http://web.archive.org/web/200511281702 ... stoadd.php

I managed to whittle down the list quite a bit. The list was last modified 28 Aug 2003. Whoever wrote the list marked possibly non-metal bands (or don't belong on MA) with (?), so they expressed some degree of confidence that bands not marked as such are indeed metal. So where I found a non-metal band on Discogs with a matching name, it's very possible that these are not the bands we're looking for.

Identified bands:

Needs research. - Endoputrescence (Beijing, China, brutal death) -- They have a song "Gorgasm" on 2001 compilation "Resurrection of the Gods".

Added. Execution is Everything
Spoiler: show
-- Carrollton, GA, U.S.A. Demo "In & Out", August 2002, independent. Review

J__Ason wrote:

Edit: Execution is Everything accepted. https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Ex ... 3540432578

Added. Halo Suffocation Machine
Spoiler: show
-- They were on a radio show called Return to the Pit on 26 Dec 2000.

Not Metal. - Cybernetic Erosion

Spelled as "Cybernetic Errosion" on their supposedly (industrial/)metal release, "Materialisation of Abomination", which can be found on Discogs. Descriptions in this review and this review don't sound especially metal.

Regarding Cybernetic Erosion, I can confirm, that it is the same band, which iis listed on Discogs.com. Their style is certainly not metal, but EBM/industrial/darkwave. I do nnot have the samples from the album mentioned in the original post, but here is anotherfull album of theirs, which is certainly not metal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjGOoJsRhr0
Also importantly, there are some songs from the album mentioned in the original post here on the Cybernetic Erosion Soundclick page: https://www.soundclick.com/bands3/defau ... did=264660
https://www.discogs.com/artist/2059097- ... ic-Erosion

PaganiusI wrote:
Yeah, that Cybernetic Errosion was listed as Industrial/Heavy Metal on Discogs. Turned out that the album was some soft electronic industrial with some sort of wave music. Didn't even have guitars...

Possible misspelling/confusion:

Sol Niger Within -- An album of this name exists and is on MA, by Fredrik Thordendal's Special Defects.
Tortured Dogs -- "Tortured Dog" exists on MA.
Yellow Machineguns -- "Yellow Machinegun" exists on MA.

Not sure actually... Bonus bands below \o/
Other:

Ashtray -- There are several rock/punk bands on Discogs with this name.
Brick Dawn
Charisma (Ex-Lemur Voice?) -- There are several Charisma on MA but none that were previously called Lemur Voice. A band called Lemur Voice does exist on MA.
Darkened Dreams (US)
Fleshcrawler -- The band of this name on MA did not exist yet when the list was written.
Greyhaven (80's)
Hamadryad -- There's a progressive rock band on Discogs with this name.
Korgus (South America)
Motores -- There's a "rock metal" band on Discogs of this name with a compilation appearance in 2004 (after the list was written). Formed in 1990.
Myriad (US) -- The US band of this name on MA did not exist yet when the list was written.
Phantom House -- There's a House band on Discogs with this name.
Polysics -- There's an electronic/rock band on Discogs with this name.
Screamingunderwater (metal?, US)
Seraph (Beijing, China, Gothic/Doom)
Tenet (?, Virusworx Records) -- There exists one Tenet on MA but not on Virusworx Records. They were signed to Virusworx at one point according to this book.

Added. - Mausoleum (Austria, Heavy Metal/Hard Rock?)
Spoiler: show
- Unspoken Words (1995, demo-tape)

Lineup:
Bernie Mayrhofer - Vocals
Andreas Dröscher - Guitars
Andreas Krenn - Guitars
Gottfried "Guv" Prinz - Bass
Josef "Joe" Hirtenlehner - Drums

Five dudes from western Lower Austria, formed in 1993. I have one track, titled "Factory", from a V/A sampler. The booklet for this sampler gives a short bio of the band, also referring to the aforementioned demo-tape of theirs. There's also a mention of an upcoming (planned for autumn 1997) "CD", but it's doubtful if that ever happened. The track I have seems to have been intended as one of the songs featured on it?

The demo-tape appears to be legit, here is an archived review in German from 1996 I found. Well, barely a review. Doesn't help much with getting a picture of the music, which is the main issue here, since the track I have is pretty much heavy metal, but with enough softer rock parts in it that -along with more mentioning of rock music in the bio- I want to hear more first. These sorts of bands from that time period are often a misleading mash-up of alternative hard rock and Enter Sandman metal, plus the only sample might be from an inexistent release. The review is rather useless, it's a "metal tape", there's a "hard rock ballad" and the solos "piss [the reviewer] off". The bio describes them as "solid rock, violent metal".

I think I found the ex-singer on Facebook and have contacted him. EDIT: oh, just found this page of him, so if the FB thing doesn't pan out let's try the email address. I see the demo is from 1996, according to this.

Needs research. - Alliance (USA)
I tried to submit a band named Alliance from the US recently and it was rejected for lack of information and it was suggested that I ask for further info on this thread.

They have one release out: "Water in the wind/Born again", 7" single, 1986

The only info I have is a review at MetalPAge, in which they are described as a Power Metal band:

Needs research. - Cappa/Seifert (USA)

Hey everyone! I recently submitted a band by the name of Cappa/Seifert. They were a short lived duo from Pennsylvania who released a 7 inch. The A side was entitled "Steel City Metal". Due to there only being a minute and a half sample of the song on YouTube, I was told to come to this thread for more research on the band because some mods would love to have them archived. That said, I did some research of my own and was able to come across these videos. The first is a live performance of "Steel City Metal": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fn9bHJuaG6M

The second video is the B side to "Steel City Metal", "Try to Create". Unfortunately, this just sounds like standard rock. After hearing this (and considering it was their only release), I'm debating if it's even worth it to resubmit. I'd love to hear some feedback from the mods. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUHAww3cIMg

Added. - (The) Paralysing Prophecy (Germany?, Death Metal, c. 1998 - c. 2000/2001)
Spoiler: show
- Free Imprisoned (September or November 1998, full-length)
- Destroy the Mistery (2000, live split CD with Path of Golconda)

Lineup:
Manuel Bigus - Unknown (per this old review)

Bit of an odd case. I found these guys while doing some research on the Messed Up Albums Thread. The(?) Paralysing Prophecy (I can't find a definitive source of whether The is an official part of the name) is actually the second incarnation of a band with a few name changes. The band is already here under their first name, The Prophecy, and under their third name, Downstroke, but does not have a page for this incarnation.

As you can see above, both of their releases are already on the site, in somewhat incomplete form. The first album, Free Imprisoned, is currently listed on the Downstroke page, with remarks in the additional notes that it was released under the Paralysing name, though it lacks cover art and lineup. It doesn't appear to have been edited since the V2 roll-out, which probably explains why it's never been corrected. The split is listed in our Messed-Up Albums thread; it appears that the Path of Golconda side was added as a stand-alone entry back in V1, and the info on P.P.'s side of the split seems to have been lost to time. It also appears that Path of Golconda shares various members with other incarnation of the band, so that may be another path to look into for information.

I don't have any solid info on a lineup. There are a few members linked to both of the previous incarnations, so it would stand to reason that they would have been in the incarnation that bridged the two, but that's all speculation. Additionally, the entries we already have, both for the different band incarnations and the two albums, all seem to have slightly contradicting information, so it's hard to trust the dates and such.

Now, for the main hurdle: I cannot find anything in the way of samples, unfortunately. The most I can provide is this review of the full-length from metal.de; the music here is described as death metal that sounds like "unenthusiastic Crematory". Conversely, this review of the full-length from blog Underground Empire mentions that it mixes "elements of Gothic and Black metal". An entry for the band at musik-sammler.de also lists the genre as Death Metal/Gothic Metal. Granted, I'm reading these reviews from Google Translate; it may say something completely different in the native German.

Even if this one doesn't have everything needed to make a new entry, I'll be looking to clean up the existing pieces regarding the band to make them all more uniform and coherent.

The following Japanese bands were recently submitted to the queue, based around the same Youtube channel. There is always a bio provided, but I have no idea if it's trustworthy and how it's sourced. Needs some sleuthing to get a better picture (and more samples in many cases).

There are two samples from the 2002 album for download on the 'sound' tab, bot in .ram filetype. The first is the same song linked in the original YouTube video. The second is another song, "I go to Heaven"; I tried to convert the file into a more easily-readable format like MP3, but none of the programs I have off-hand worked. If anyone has Real Media Player or another .ram compatible program, go for it.

I did also find two other links that seem to corroborate the YouTube bio's claim that they reformed and toured. Both of these are tour history pages for other bands where Jack Off Guys is mentioned:

I struck out with both Gideon Knights and Hot Coke, the only info on either really coming from either the linked YouTube videos, or pages about the VA Comps they are featured on in said YouTube videos.

I'm sure someone has already done so, but if not, perhaps we could reach out to the person behind that YouTube channel and see if he could shed some light on his sources. He seems to be fairly proficient in the scene.

Sorry for the delay MCH. Nice job finding that site, looks like the release issue is satisfied, but I have no clue right now how to get that sample to play. Besides, while two songs are definitely better than one, it's still rather slim.

I just had my submission rejected a second time (first time due to insufficient proof of digital release) because the band is allegedly not a metal band. If this isn't Melodic Death Metal, then what is it?
