Mournful Congregation - Mother-Water, The Great Sea Wept

Such atmosphere, it is a very moving peace!

Night in Gales - The Last Sunsets (2018)

Nice to see these guys come back after a 7-year break. Gothenburg melo death on tap so you know the drill - some killer riffs and ensuing headbanging. Solid but nothing groundbreaking.

Marduk - Frontschwein

Aggressive and fast as Marduk tends to be.

Judas Priest - "Death Row"

Jugulator is criminally underrated but this is one of the tracks that I don't like that much.

Darkthrone - Arctic Thunder

This sounds like a lot of fun. Just riff-driven metal to the core that doesn't to fit into one category. Makes me want to revisit their other recent works, too.

Judas Priest - Evil Never Dies

At the least, this (the album as a whole) is the best Halford has sounded in years.

Wolfsburg - Zerschmetterer

Some pretty sick drumming, if they are real.

Queensryche - The Mission

One of the best tracks of a concept album about a wanna be leftist revolutionary thinking he's fighting fascists all the while he's just a tool of someone else's power play. Still works great 30 years later.

Bolt Thrower - Those Once Loyal

Not into DM as a rule, I find it tedious for the most part, but Bolt Thrower are the exception and this album is excellent.

Also been playing the new JP album, which is OK but not brilliant, a decent way to end their career on though if it's their last one.

About three years ago I discovered this band and really liked this EP. Not heard it in a while, so I've returned to it just now and it really is a great piece of work. Most modern day doom metal/epic trad records I've heard these days seem to just not work as well as the greats did, but this is an exception - it's very very good indeed.

Makinacion - Hasta La Muerte

Discovered them through "random band." Expected them to be much heavier, but still pretty good for straight up Rock.

Megadeth - So Far So Good So What!

I've been listening to this record for over half a decade now, and I'm just now realizing how "Mary Jane" sounds EXACTLY like "In My Darkest Hour", or at least in the verses. Anyone else ever notice?

Kreator - Agents of Brutality

I feel dumb waiting so long to get Coma of Souls. On the plus side by waiting until the 2018 reissue I got a bonus live disc.

Judas Priest - Necromancer

13 new badass songs by the mighty Priest but this one has to be the most badass of all of them.

Blood Incantation - Starspawn

One of those albums that slipped through the cracks for me in the last couple of years, really solid death metal with an amazingly creepy atmosphere. It has one of my favorite archetypes of harsh vocals too, the deep shriek that sounds like it's coming from far away or inside a cavern

Amon Amarth - In Pursuit of Vikings

Always loved this one. Its such banger in the best possible way.

Hela - Sign of the wolf: Tribute to Pentagram (Pentagram cover)

I don't know anything about this Spanish band but this cover is not bad.

Municipal Waste - "Unleash The Bastards"

I didn't like MW when they initially came out. I felt that they were taking the '80s retro thrash to ridiculous lengths. But after listening to their albums, I finally warmed up to them.

Kyuss - Welcome to Sky Valley

Never heard these guys before. This is cool - nice sludgy Sabbath-esque rock/metal. This is the kind of badass southern-tinged melancholia and attitude I enjoy.

That has become my favorite type of vocals. These guys kills it live.

Demonical - Night of the Graveless Souls (obvious Emperor cover)

Ummm, holy fucking shit! Death metal cover of a seminal nineties BM track, and it fucking rules hard. Absolutely punishing!!

Bell Witch - Mirror Reaper

Just heard the entire thing for the first time, and all I can say is HOLY FUCK. They're coming to my country in April, and I'm definitely going to see them

Mastodon - The Last Baron

Okay, I'm not really into these guys, I'm trying real hard to like them... Crack the Skye is a cool record, I just don't really dig the title cut... "The Last Baron" is cool, though.

Opeth - "April Ethereal" from My Arms, Your Hearse

Nothing I can say about this band/album that hasn't already been stated 100 times before.

Ravenzang - "Hellevorst" from Ravenzang.

Well polished black metal with a pagan tinge from the Netherlands, and yet another TdG must have.

Mastodon - March of the Fire Ants

Not bad, but I'll need additional listens to fully grasp this one...

Ash Borer - "Convict all Flesh"

One of their best songs, IMO. Still need me this album on vinyl.

Yeah that's a trippy one. I really love The Big Dream, the songs are so damn catchy and head-bobable but still dark and...well fucking Lynchian I suppose.

A mystical peace of Death/Doom, great album as well!

Paradox - Killtime

I still can't figure out just how I managed to totally ignore this band, even after I got Collision Course as a mostly blind buy. It took listening to Tales of the Weird for me to turn around, and boy am I glad I did.

I've been deep diving into Immolation and Incantation's early albums....or you could say I've been spelunking into it(sorry).

Satyricon - Supersonic Journey

Rebel Extravaganza deserves more love! Come on, guys, just 61% for this thing? It deserves at least 79%!

Kreator - "Demon Prince"

2000's Kreator while not in the same high quality as their '80s incarnation is still decent and much better than their confusing '90s output,
