‘Cause its comforting to listen to an underachiever like Mr. Barnes doing what he loves and making a living off it.

Perhaps this is what our former esteemed Prime Minister was really referring to with this memorable quote.

Black Flag is an amazing band. But consistent they are not. Their best stuff is pre-Rollins and the first album. The rest is spotty with "My War" being the best.

If you want a consistent Flag-like band go with OFF! Keith Morris delivers.

Greg Ginn was the best and WORST part of Black Flag. For the simple fact that he wrote the amazing stuff and he also wrote the horseshit.

Yeah but he was also involved in the creation of 'What The...' and that shit was just embarrassing to listen to. Off! are great on record as well as live. I also got to see the 'FLAG' line up live with Morris on vocals, as well as Dez Cadena and Dukowski on board and that shit was fuckin' incredible. Ginn has one hell of a legacy behind him but he's not doing it much justice with his recent output, in addition to his alleged off-stage behavior.

Black Flag is definitely inconsistent, but musically I find them superior. I'll check out OFF! though.

The possibility of Ginn doing anything good again is less than zero. The man's a bit of a wreck. OFF are great, too, most of Black Flag's studio stuff is cool... I like all the proper albums but yeah, I don't really want an instrumental Black Flag album or spoken word or whatever.

Pantera's Power Metal has 14 reviews and an average of 88%.

Phil must be proud (to be loud!). But it is a very good album. Have it on original CD (don't ask how much it cost).

There should be a joint (ha!) called Napero's Asbestos and Marijuana Emporium, for all of your asbestos and marijuana needs!

Are these literal or figurative stitches? If the former, I'd advise you to seek medical help, but it seems like you've clearly done so already.

This morning I couldn’t decide if I wanted to listen to shitty metalcore, gay opera or dubstep so I just threw on some Anaal Nathrakh and now I’m ready to start the day.

I'm starting with newly discovered Brutal Death/Goregrind. There's no way you can sleep with this noise crushing you skull, but it's one of the few BDM bands I actually kinda like...

What is it? Got me a package from Severed Records a few days ago and have been listening to Divulsor and the new Cesspool of Vermin ep.

Aren't those all the same thing?

Anyway on the subject of Black Flag, I fucking worship My War and Loose Nut. those two records warped my world as a young metalhead who had written off punk. I still listen to them regularly and know those records intimately. The rest of their stuff is great too but doesn't give me those magical endorphin eruptions like My War and Loose Nut.

As for starting off my Saturday, my selection is quite different than those mentioned; a little Guess Who on the turntable for me! No sugar tonight in muh coffee!

Got any recommendations for Guess Who albums to start with? I've only heard the songs American Woman and (I think) No time, and they are both pretty good. Wondering if they have better and/or heavier material though.

Only to Anaal Nathrakh, who I’m 99% sure refer to said genres as “the building blocks”.

I actually only have the greatest hits LP, so I'm no help, unfortunately. I was actually gonna look into this later myself, haha. Both great tunes!

Good old Violent Revolution - the album that opened the gates for me. Been an Exodus fan for nearly 15 years now and still haven't listened to Pleasures of the Flesh. I should probably start working on that.

I really want to get that new Witch Mountain. I've heard it once on a download and it was great. Oddly enough it's the only full length of theirs I don't have.

I'm not huge on Exodus besides the first album, but I'm trying to get more into them.

It's actually the only one that I DO have.

Exodus! I really liked Blood in Blood out. Just good new thrash that spanks all that bullshit “retro thrash” that keeps popping up.

It would have been awesome if Meat Loaf had actually fronted a real metal band in the 80's.

Agreed. I always thought that the album cover of Bat Out Of Hell was the most metal looking non metal album cover.

Well he did sing on some of the Nuge's most metal songs. And it does sound pretty awesome, actually.

I have a little confession to make: I'm a wolf spiritually.
