Spirit animals eh... well, the distance between the apartment my parents rented when I was born, and the place I am about to move to, is 800 metres. I have lived in other places in the interim, but if you didn’t know that, then moving 800 metres in 28 years would rank my mobility about equal to a sponge or a coral.

Well he did sing on some of the Nuge's most metal songs. And it does sound pretty awesome, actually.

I feel bad rocking out to a Ted Nugent song because he's such a gun locker full of dicks, but that song was pretty sweet if kinda repetitive. Though I guess Meat Loaf's still alive, so there's still time!

As said in another thread - Uncle Ted could lay down some sweet rockin' jams when he wanted to.

Ted Nugent's first couple of albums are fucking great. Insane guitar playing and great vocals. He was a big influence on a lot of the thrash guys.

I have an announcement. I have transcended my physical form and now exist as pure, creative energy. I am already an immaterial being. It is impossible to describe the infinity of my consciousness which now extends across all space and time. I hope you are all able to join me in this final stage of evolution someday, إن شاء الله

I had my most horrible and violent dream/nightmare ever the other night. It was on a level of a absolutely gut-wrenching sci-fi horror film, and I felt like I was one of the characters in it. There have been violent dreams in the past, with the all time classic award going to the time I killed two men with a machete, leaving their corpses on a pile of Chiquita bananas in the local grocery store... but this was something else altogether: I was in an icy tunnel, with noise, shattering man-sized icicles, flashing lights, and people vanishing, collapsing and simply vaporizing all around. If I could turn that atmosphere into a movie script, it would beat the shit out of Aliens and whatever. Absolute mayhem, and exceptional tension and fear.

It was a mentally cleansing experience, too. Weird.

NEEEEEEEEEEEEERDS!

I hate nerds just as much as the next guy. They smell funny, and they have four eyes, which they use to stare straight into your soul, and irritate you beyond what's lawful by not having a soul of their own. Yuck! They should all be sent to a gulag to code something meaningless on powerless computers, and stealing their lunch money is not only OK, but a fine way of showing the girls who you really are.

Ahem... If anyone here is still playing Pokemon Go, and needs a friend to get ahead in the Celebi research mission, I might be interested in getting friends as far from Finland as possible, to get maximum mileage out of sending gifts. PM me.

Yeah, nerds should receive Indian burns and wedgies several times a day. Stinky bucktoothed bastards with their pocket protectors and straight A exam results! KILL!

I dunno.. I think the concept of "geeks" has changed the whole nerd thing. I'm not 100% sure what's a nerd anymore.

Don't sleep on Locust Point. Detroit does it again! They ride a fine line between heavy as lead dirty rock and roll, and straight up trad metal. Full album on bandcamp for a listen.

I gave it a quick listen and this is GOOD! When I finish listening to Scattered Hamlet (this one you should also check out if you like dirty, bluesy southern rock/metal) I will probably give it a more thorough spin.

I got the first pressing of Evil Never Dies from Witches Brew and the NWN pressing of the second album. I also own the rest of their stuff on CD - amazing band live! And the t-shirt they sold on their current tour was amazing.

And the first two Crue records are GREAT fun. Punky, riffy, dangerous and boozed up!

See, when I went to see them open for Kiss (who blew them away, by the way), I was excited for them. At the time I had an idea that they were pretty good - that illusion was quickly shattered. One of the worst performances I've ever seen.

Apropos of nothing, I REALLY wish bands would quit getting Alissa White-Gluz to guest on their albums and shit all over their songs. Looking at you, Kamelot and Angra.

Every live performance I have seen of them (which is limited to video...) sucked. However I think this because Vince Neil is absolutely atrocious live. The musicans seemed competent enough (I would venture to call Mick Mars an underrated guitarist even...).

However the first two Motley albums are forever ingrained into heavy metal history. You cannot escape from those two and they are some killer songs on those (Live Wire!).

Mick Mars was one of the worst performers in the band. It was almost painful to watch him.

Funny. He always seemed like the "musician" of the group to me. Oh well. Motley have their place in heavy metal history and that is that.

I got Evil Never Dies on orange vinyl off eBay back in the day and I think it’s a boot. Awesome album though. Not sure which I wanna get next. Leaning towards An Overdose of Death just for the cover.

Overdose of Death is good. But try the last one - great crunchy production, less raw and chaotic but still packed with riffs and attitude. And it has one of their most amazing songs in "Acid Fuzz".

I love every Toxic Holocaust album, to be honest. But Overdose is probably #1.

Motley Crue sucked once they got older but I think all of their earlier albums are really good. Everything after Generation Swine (yeah I like that one, get at me) was pretty rough though.

Generation Swine does nothing for me but the self-titled one with Corabi is hella underrated. Some heavy riffage on that one and a burner in Smoke The Sky.

Well, since you at least like the grungy self titled, I guess not liking Generation Swine is forgivable, haha. I definitely see why people don't like it, but I find it to be a solid disc with some nu metal tactics. It took a few spins to grow on me.

TrooperEd, I had the same thought.

My problem with Generation Swine is not the music itself but the combination of the music and the vocals of Vince Neil. They just do not fit together. Corabi had a powerful, thundering and bluesy type of voice and this is why I liked him on the self-titled - it fit the music well.

It's definitely a little awkward at times. I think my appreciation for industrial rock and rough mixes just made it stick.

I've been away for about a year. Lots of changes in my life. Moved three times. Got a new job. No longer feeling like shit on a day to day basis is nice. Really sad to hear that Diamhea died. I obviously didn't know him very well, but he was good company during long, sleepless nights in the chatroom. Extremely knowledgeable about melodeath, totally dedicated to this site, and a cool guy all around. RIP. 31 is too young.

I think I remember reading in Guitar World years ago that Mick Mars was behind the more iconic riffs in Motley Crue despite being more of a blues player. I always got a kick out of imagining him playing licks and them saying “too bluesy” and him rolling his eyes, making “jerk off” gestures and then pulling something like Shout at the Devil outta his ass.
As for his live performances, doesn’t the guy have some kind of “fused spine” disease where he can’t move around all that much?
