I haven't heard Eternity's End before now and yeah this is real good. New album's not on Bandcamp but the first one sounds fun as fuck so far.

Iuri Sanson being on the second one is definitely promising - the singer on this first one is good but sounds like a lot of other dudes, very similar to Thaurorod, Innerwish, any number of bands. Music rips though.

edit: Definitely digging the material with Sanson a lot.

This is like back when both Dragonforce and Hibria were worth a damn. Super nostalgic. I would've gone ape shit for this 10 years ago and it's still very good now.

Eternity's End is definitely the standout rec from this thread.

I also really enjoyed Judicator's The Last Emperor. Didn't think much of At the Expense of Humanity, however.

Eternity's End is indeed a high caliber band. The new album is pretty awesome stuff.

Best female fronted power/progressive has to be Divine Ascension...

I’m not a huge power metal guy, at all, but the new Rhapsody of Fire to my ears is one of the best I’ve heard in recent memory. It actually put me in a good mood driving which is almost impossible!

Checking out this Eternity's End album, and I'm really impressed with Iuri Sanson. He showed he had some chops with Hibria, but he's even better here. Those smooth, almost "crysalline" highs are amazing!

I dunno about "best," but this is a pretty cool song. I'll have to take a look.

The only one I've heard is their second album and yeah, was some pretty ripping stuff. It's basically the modern, more refined version of stuff like Pagan's Mind's more straightforward tracks.

The second is the clear best one but the other 2 are quality too.

I agree completely that the second album, Liberator, is their best. Last year's is close though.

Of course. It's such a neglected genre. People who enjoy it seem to be much more picky than death metal fans for example. It's hard to find high quality power metal bands whereas it's quite easy for me to find death metal that I like.

Are there any other bands similar to the NOBLE BEAST style? I like the aggressive, heavier side of power metal minus the keyboards and cheese factor. I think Noble Beast gets close to there with some of his vocal antics but the riffs bring it back around. It's some of the best stuff I've ever heard in that genre. Haven't stopped playing it. Too bad they only made one album.

You'd definitely enjoy Persuader:

Funny, I consider Noble Beast to be way cheesier than most of their less heavy, more keyboard-y genre peers.

The new Twisted Tower Dire that was just released today is probably going to going to get a decent amount of love from folks in this thread. Slightly more towards the epic heavy metal end of the PM spectrum, but it's really fun stuff: https://twistedtowerdire.bandcamp.com/a ... he-unknown

Last 10 years? Hm...
Falconer-Among Beggars and Thieves(well 2008 but whatever)
Took me a while because I had to choose between this one or Chapters From A Vale Forlorn, but this edged it out. CFAVF had too much filler considering it had amazing stuff like For Life and Liberty.

Dragonland-Under The Grey Banner.
Fucking. Killer. Much better than the shitshow Starfall.

Excalion-High Time
I'd put Waterlines but alas. High Time was just so...fun to listen to. A real treat, what a shame their newest album has become so generic.

Persuader-The Fiction Maze
War is the greatest song that they've written(besides Sanity Soiled). There I said it.

Edenbridge-The Great Momentum
What a great comeback album from The Bonding. I still believe Shine was their best album.

Iron Savior-The Landing
STARRRRRLIGHT.

Ancient Bards- Soulless Child
I love Sara's vocals, she's just so talented. This was a much more mature album compared to their first one but I still believe Soulless Child absolutely dominates their newest one as well.

Pyramaze-Contingent
I never got the love for Disciples of the Sun.

Numenor-Chronicles from the Realms Beyond
I know they're a mix of black and power, but im going to add them to the list anyways. They literally do nothing special but the album is just chock full of fantastic moments.

Iron Fire-Revenge
Im cheating again. THIS is Iron Fire's magnum opus. Even if their latest album was fucking amazing, Revenge was better in everyway.

Excalion's new album is anything but generic. It's a shame they lost their extremely distinctive singer from back then, but musically it's the same as ever and even more involved and rich at times, with more variety and expansiveness. Give it another try sometime.

A rough order. Haven't really kept up with PM, sticking to familiar bands rather than trying lots of new ones.

Battle Beast - Battle Beast
Sabaton - Heroes
Stormwarrior - Thunder & Steele
Gloryhammer - Tales From the Kingdom of Fife
Primal Fear - Delivering the Black
Primal Fear - Rulebreaker
Pathfinder - Beyond the Space, Beyond the Time
Iron Savior - The Landing
Alestorm - Sunset on the Golden Age
Sonata Arctica - Pariah's Child

I think that's why I think it's generic, the new vocalist is just so...its just something I hear from tons of other bands. Hell, he sounds similar to the singer of Dreamtale. Im just listening to Divergent Falling and it just seems so out of place compared to their previous works. I dunno man, its just me.

I think he's actually really fantastic despite not being as individual-sounding as the old guy. Great range and goes from high and crystal-clear to aggressive really well.

The songwriting is slightly less immediate, but they let things play more with more involved musicality, rather than going for the poppier structures of the old stuff. It's all good music but I appreciated how they changed over time.
