Destrction will release a new album via Nuclear Blast, recorded with V.O. Pulver. For those who have missed it, they now are back to having two guitarists. Damir Eskic is the second guitarist, and Randy Black on drums.

Schmier says:
"It's a process that took us three months — writing, recording and mixing. The new influence of the guys is there, because there's more shredding leads. Randy is a very solid, very tight player — very groovy also. You can hear that. We tried to make songs this time that are hitting on the target faster — the songs hit you right away. It's brutal, but it's very catchy. So you hear the songs the first time, right away you will remember [them]. You don't write an album like this every time. Sometimes you write songs, and after a while, you're, like, 'It's maybe too complicated,' because you wanna be an artist, you wanna express yourself. I think this time we managed to write an album that's very punchy."

Would have been good to hear a sample of that in the trailer, because I'm just hearing the same mediocre shit they've been putting out for almost two decades now.

I haven't listened to them since "Cracked Brain" and I'm almost ashamed to admit that. I dunno, they are one of those bands I kind of gave up on a while ago.

Do not be ashamed. They pretty much stopped being good after cracked brain, their 90's era is really bad, so bad they disowned all of it except for cracked brain.
I've got to admit some of their 2000's stuff is not that bad, but nothing you can't live without, either.

The Antichrist is pretty rad, and some of their 2000s records are quite good as well. I stopped paying attention after Devolution, though; started sounding like just more of the same to me around that time.

I think their 2 guitar era before was by far their best stuff and Randy Black is a WAY underrated drummer so I am very curious to hear this.

I remember when this place was unanimous in its love for modern Destruction.

Without taking away from the songwriting of their early albums, I do tend to listen to their current material more often. Sure, this probably will be more of the same, but I'm good with that as it's a formula I enjoy compared to some other bands that get locked in that mode.

Returning to a four-piece configuration should make for at least a couple twists and turns and although Vaaver was a beast on drums, they got a veteran in Randy who deserves to be featured in a high profile band.

Cover art is quite nice, I like it.

I somehow doubt that the songs will do much for me, though. They've been running on autopilot since about "Metal Discharge" and my favourite album by theirs is possibly "Release from Agony" or even their 1999/2000 comeback album. At least they had major riffs and variation back then.

As much as I think this is going to suck, I've got to admin that's one hell of a cover art, I'd even buy it just for it to be honest.

Grabbed me more than the recent Death Angel songs which are really good nonetheless.
I wonder if the new guys and Destruction are looking at Kreator and panicking?

Sadly, I'll probably pick this one up eventually; even though it's the umpteenth reiteration of The Antichrist. It's kind of like those kids that keep buying Call of Duty games even when they're all garbage.
