Megadeth - Poisonous Shadows

One of the best late-era Megadeth songs, imo.

Vader- Death in Silence

Hey, Spotify doesn't have The Art of War. Fucking Spotify. Death in Silence is one of Vader's best songs, so killer.

Arch/Matheos - Wrath of the Universe

Definitely a contender for coolest song of the year so far. Just so goddamn epic - it's almost an apocalyptic kind of atmosphere.

Such a nice title to rep what this guy is always about. Smooth and chill. Curren$y is rap's best kept open secret.

Witchcraft - The Alchemist

The whole album but in particular the title track. Been on Witchcraft kick of late and it's been a while since I've visited The Alchemist. Still great.

Saviour Machine - The Mask

Super catchy gothic metal with some cool Maiden-esque licks here and there. I dig the dramatic vocals too.

Arch / Matheos - Wrath of the Universe

Probably the most challenging stuff I've heard in a long time - I'm picking up more things the more I listen to this record.

Megadeth - Rust in Peace

Kind of hooked to this album. Youthanasia has some cool tracks too. Curiously, Peace Sells... is on the bottom of the albums I now have. Would've thought - based on the reviews here -, that I would've loved that one. But more spins, more spins.

Rippikoulu - Musta Seremonia

Evil, suffocating death/doom. The guitars have a great crunch to them.

Suffering Hour - Dwell

I was a bit skeptical after learning that these guys decided to release a single song EP. It could've gone wrong easily, but not only do they bring the riffs (man those damn riffs!), but also weave a phenomenal, cohesive whole out of it all. I'd be happy with a nice collection of riffs too, but this is something over and beyond. Amazing release and a clear sign of ambition (and ability to execute it perfectly).

Played recently:

Opeth - Deliverance

Perhaps less sustained melodious architectures and a much more simplified approach (in conjunction to previous outputs), but rather, sustained by darker strokes of melodies and more "atmosphere" anticipating the attitude witnessed in Damnation.

Arch / Matheos - Kindred Spirits

This is a strange album for sure - on one hand it's as sophisticated as I'd expect of the band. On the other hand, some of the riffs themselves are relatively straightforward and actually stand out a lot more than the ones on Sympathetic Resonance.

Deftones - Pink Maggit

I've been digging Deftones a lot these days. I absolutely love that genre of 90s-y drop tuning-shoegaze influenced-alty-heavy bands
