I wish I could say that we’ve all been there, but it seems we have different problems. Hells_unicorn always finds his virgins deflowered during the challenge but before he gets to them, which is rather entertaining to watch. The tactic you’re looking for is probably just to pick perennially unpopular albums, so you’ll be guaranteed first stab at them.

First one out now. Been going for an old Hellenic black metal demo, just like in the old days...will do at least another one. I doubt I can handle many more this week, but at least I'm taking part...

Damn, didn't know that the DevilDriver country disc was a virgin record. Great write-up, Gas!

Throwing this out there again, Volbeat - Above Heaven / Beyond Hell is still a virgin record, incase anyone wants to hit an easy one. ;)

You'll be seeing a bit more of that this time too, was planning on hitting some of Agoraphobic Nosebleed's material and Arc was already hit by our resident Neo-bitterman acolyte, who surprisingly ended up giving it a stronger score than I was going to. Now that my day from hell is past, I should be able to help get our numbers up, I feel like crap that I didn't contribute anything yesterday but I got home at around 10pm after a 16 hour day feeling like a bus had plowed over me so I was in no shape to write anything. lol

Why thanks, Sweetie! It was a pretty ace comeback as well as a novel idea from DD, so I’m kind of surprised no one else covered it as well. However, my stupid thing for the day was realizing that I bought the CD back home after new year and neither brought it here with me nor put it on my computer. Had to end up illegally streaming something I own to get the review done...

Yesterday’s stupid action was writing the whole of the Savagery review in the MA editor and then deleting it without posting. Does that make you feel better about the one you didn’t know had been deflowered already?

This happened to me with my first or second challenge. I made a list of things to listen to about a month out and when the day hit I just started writing. Went to submit one and it was already there. Hasn’t happened since, because now I check before I even start working on one!

I ended up getting into a car wreck yesterday so that certainly set me back. Thankfully I'm doing okay and the insurance stuff is taken care of, just gotta adjust my review goal from 50 to something in the 25-30 range.

Yikes, glad you're okay man. I had some sudden shifts in my schedule as well so I'll probably end up in the same territory as you absent a massive streak during the weekend.

That really sucks man, I hope you’re doing well now. I was also hoping to see you have a good run at this, since I think it’s the first one you’ve really gone for. Gunther has probably been most consistent so far, though I had a stroke of luck in all the bosses being away from work today and also tomorrow, so more time has opened up. The weekend, however, is a total unknown for me.

Hahahaha. Don't you love trying to look productive at work and write reviews at the same time?

I am 100% a guilty party in this respect. However, the bosses are actually part of my work, because I teach them English when they have enough time.

Just caught Gunther’s write up of Visigoth. That’s how you praise a band and train writers at the same time!

Haha do you praise the sun yourself?

I've already broken my challenge record, I think? I have a few days off next so I'll hopefully bang out a few more today. As always, I'll in the queue to accept stuff as needed. I dug through my collection of CDs I had bought but never opened last night...Christ, I have some stuff and I have no idea where it came from. Opens up my options a little!

Glory is imminent, friendos.

I don't normally write on the weekends but I have to make an exception for this weekend, especially since I'm on the front lines of the Indy 500 and will likely be held up in my house for a good while. We'll see if that results in any actual numbers.

Also, I have a review to repost that I wrote last month for the Tanith album that released today but I'd rather not artificially boost my numbers nor deny a virgin to anybody else. I'll post it when the challenge is done but somebody should have at it in the meantime, as it is a pretty fantastic album.

Unless you’ve got like 60 such reviews, I suggest you post it anyway. It’s not like you could have submitted it any earlier, and it will help us get to a better total. On the topic of the Indy 500, it seems that cars sadly have way too much influence over your life this week.

Nobody will fault you for posting it, although I just checked the album out and I may sneak in one for it myself before this challenge is over.

Keep it up man, you had a great start and that’s one of the things that pushed me to do more.

Yesterday (Saturday morning) my wife said to me, “It’s that comment-writing competition, isn’t it? You should just go and write comments today, I have stuff to do.” (She isn’t that clear on what the “comments” actually entail.) Hence why I’ve been able to keep up a good total.

You've done a stellar job so far man, especially considering that you haven't written much anything for almost 3 years. 41 reviews for a challenge is definitely an excellent showing.

I wish some other users than the usual suspects would show up and contribute some reviews. This challenge basically consist of ten reviewers writing about ninety percent of all reviews relevant for the challenge. Records won't be broken like that for sure.

Good wife.

I squeezed in another review yesterday, but I'm afraid that's all I could manage. Still happy to contribute a little this time.

Compared to the sixth day of the last challenge, our total virgins of the day are about the same, but our participants are down.

Congrats on gasmask_colostomy for being today's leader!

Last day of the challenge! Let's keep up the momentum! \m/

So we're on a decent pace; less participants, but still grinding out to par.

Last day. Let us ride eternal.

We’re only 13 hours away! I’m about to sleep, so I’ll join you guys in the office on Monday morning, but might be able to grind out a couple more if I plan things correctly. Let’s finish this on a high!

This week just wound up incredibly busy for me, I only wound up getting two done today and that's all I'm gonna have time for, since living the 3rd shift life means I'm already far past my bedtime so I'm hanging it up for the day.

Thanks a bunch to everybody who did participate though! It seemed to be a bit slower this year but they're not all going to be winners, and if I'm not mistaken the winter challenge usually ends up being way more productive anyway.

Aye. And I'll do my best to keep the winter challenge at the regular time this year, too. That shouldn't be a problem.

Life ended up getting in the way for me, too. Good to see there's a decent handful of reviewers putting in a strong effort on this one, though.

I was primed to go for 50, and it looks like I'm just going to barely break 30 this time around. I might have done a few more had the challenge been held in early June, but all of the stuff that came up in my case was unexpected. I'm fairly proud of what I was able to accomplish and this actually wasn't my weakest challenge of the ones that I've thrown full effort into, hopefully my schedule will be a bit more predictable next time around.

P.S. - Kluesba submitted a review for the new Diamond Head all but 5 minutes before I did, there's another sloppy seconds for you to have a giggle at gasmask. :-P

Losing steam, friends. Might submit a few more tonight, but I can't see myself doing a bunch tomorrow. We'll see.

You've done a stellar job so far man, especially considering that you haven't written much anything for almost 3 years. 41 reviews for a challenge is definitely an excellent showing.

Hey, thanks man. I really appreciate it.

With that said, number 48 is in the books (previous PR was 27), and I'm calling it. Twas a good run.

Here's to everyone as we wind down. And most important, to Diamhea. Let every challenge remind us of his dedication to reviewing and this site.

Cheers, friends. Until next time.

Alpha Drone greatly appreciated the wife's permission to write comments.

Also the EP version of "Hymne" is far superior to the album version, the acoustic intro simply works better and the end section is much more dramatic because the keyboard pierces through much more clearly.

Also it looks like the Buckethead discography is almost full, thankfully there should be very little falling back to that in the winter challenge.

I was working on a second review for either of the last two Nuclear Death albums, but I felt my hastily written thoughts couldn't do them justice, so I abandoned the endeavour.

Aye, I could certainly see that argument. Admittedly, I like both versions but do feel the full-length version was better executed.

Looks like the challenge is still going well today. I got bogged down with other things, but am happy to have put in two reviews nevertheless. You all did a great job, and many previously virgin albums are better for it. Well done! I have no doubt the next challenge later this year will be just as solid, if not more so.
