Silver Talon - Speed of the Night

Saw these guys just a few days ago as an opener for Exmortus. I was extremely impressed.

Shit day at work made a little better by this. Ripping fucking melodic death (yes, it exists).

Xenosis - Devour and Birth

This may be tagged "Progessive Death Metal" on Metallum, but there are so many big dumb thick hardcore chugs and djenty leads (often under chugs themselves) I'm amazed there isn't a "/Deathcore" appended to it.

I've never been big on "Sunset Superman." You know what Dio song I'll always sing along to, though? AND ALL THE FOOLS!! SAILED AWAAAAYYYY!! :np:

Now I've gotta listen to it.

The Chasm - Return of the Banished

I used to find this album way too flashy for my taste but not anymore. While lacking the emotional depth of the previous Chasm albums, this one makes up with a shitload of exciting and sharp riffs.

Slough Feg - Tiger! Tiger!

I think the main hook for me with this track is the melancholic and brooding atmosphere of the guitars, off of which the lyrics create a cosmic sense of scale. All of this is perfectly fitting, but still very noteworthy

Earth - Crooked Axis for String Quartet

A more mellowed out album for me to listen to between all the brutality and aggression (especially after Maryland Deathfest).

Cradle of Filth - Wester Vespertine

Still think "Cryptoriana" is straight up their best since "Midian". It also might have some of their absolute best (if not their best) guitar work.

CC - Butchered at Birth

Really just been digging this alot the past couple days. Those weird angular riffs, coupled with the exaggerated brutality, are extremely addicting.i know I shit on the production of this album, but it is certainly fitting.

This was always my fave from the album. Slow, sorrowful and dreamlike. Always thought it was about the infamous black circle, but it can't be, the ultimate bearer of all truths said that the circle didn't exist. :)

The Swan Road album is so overlooked. I think the harsh production and a shitty 1st song scare off many potential listeners. There are some beautiful melodies and riffs to be found.

Fate - Love on the Rox

So this is the band that Hank Shermann formed after Mercyful Fate broke up the first time, the reason for that being that Hank wanted to take Mercyful Fate in a more commercial direction, but King Diamond wanted to keep making metal music. Thank fuck the split happened, because this is some garbage ass hair rock if I've ever heard it. At least this is sequestered into its own separate project rather than sullying the Mercyful Fate name. Seriously, can you imagine if they had followed up Don't Break the Oath with THIS?

Dissection - Unhallowed

Storm... I remember from my teenage years already. Couple of my friends were very big on this. Storm... is now ten times more important album to me than it was then. Thorns of Crimson Death!

And where to buy Reinkaos in Finland? Re-release maybe coming?

Love the mystic quality of this track. Not sure if I prefer it over Bathory's The Eternal Fire though. :p
