Obviously the execution is good but i've never understood wtf is supposed to be happening. Some kid sitting on a rock presumably watching a football match on VR, while Eddie is in the vicinity of a burning city which has bugger-all to do with the kid in the corner. I enjoyed the album, but the cover is easily the worst in Maiden's library. Yes i'm counting DoD.

The concept is essentially the lyrics to Futureal. I think the problem is it's a bit on the nose, reeks of Steve Harris's inner grumpy old man (computer games are evil!!), and of course the blatant sneaking in of football (theres 11 players in a soccer team, right?)

Execution is simply too good to put this even near the geriatric incompetence Steve showed with the commissioning of the dance of death artwork.

It's also likely a direct reference to the Virtual Boy.

Okay, I'm looking for a cover that I saw in this topic a long time ago but can't find at all now. I'm pretty sure the background was either black or dark blue, there was a very poorly drawn leg on the right side indicating someone running away and near the left-centre was a giant red circle which had what looked like a fish-eye lens view of a side profile of a man's face screaming towards the person running away.

It was my favourite one in this entire topic and I can't remember the band name or the record name at all so it would be appreciated if someone could point me in the right way.

I mean does he really think they didn't measure the chains before they put the lute there. Presumably his legs are chained too because otherwise he could get it easily. Even if he could I doubt you can pluck the damn thing with a great big metal clasp on your right wrist.

This is actually a homage to old propaganda posters, and as such I think it is quite good a cover.

My pick would be this one, a nice excuse to pose naked for the camera.

That Witch Ritual cover gives me the low effort Saint Vitus album cover vibe and for that reason I kinda like it lol

you mangled up the order, which is telling. sanctus satanas (with a photo of -presumably- his ex; subtle) is first, then it's the descent, then he's ascending for like three EPs. on the last one he's topless again, but wiv a girl. I have no words... :D why no one told me about this band before?

Yeah, that one is probably one of the worst I've seen come up recently.

I know exactly what cover it is without opening the spoiler.

One can only think this is where the dude from Slipknot got the idea for his mask.

True. What's more, "Face in the Blue" would've been a more cover art-appropriate title.

Weirdly enough, I think the chronology is close enough that it’s a tough call who got there first. Slipknot weren’t famous when Testament released that album, but they had been a local group for a couple of years.

EDIT: Image
Apparently this is what Slipknot looked like in1997, which shows Craig Jones wearing a helmet without the spikes added (he’s top left). By the time of the self-titled in 1999, he would have the spikes. Maybe he’s a big Testament fan...

I think they got the idea for the cover from Hellraiser . That thing looks like a hybrid of Pinhead and Alma from F.E.A.R fps game.
