Satyricon - Blessed from Below
I decided to check out more obscure Satyricon material from their EPs and this stuck out to me. It starts of like a boring electronic pop song, but it really transforms towards the end to this ambient music that reminded my of the Iljdarn ambient albums. I'm not surprised to find that Snorre Ruch was involved with this track. Very unique in their discography.

Great song. My brother used the dreamy part for ringtone.

It's astounding how excellent this song is. One of the best metal songs ever written.

My first and best Slayer album.

Bolt Thrower - Lost Souls Domain
You can see the devastated battlefields of the 41st millennium when you listen to this record. The grind of war machines, the explosions of bolt guns and missiles coming in, people being melted with plasma guns, screams of death. This record is oppressively heavy.

Necrodeath - Fragments of Insanity

I used to dismiss this as some weaker thrashier variant of the band's debut - but fortunately I found it's not exactly true. I'll admit I could have done with a louder production but the band still riffs down your throat with this record. Perhaps I should check out more of these guys at one point.

I've had a head full of steam today!!! So was cranking tracks off of Kings of Metal. Kingdom Come, Hail and Kill, and just now Blood of the Kings!

Passed a cert test this morning so now I just need to go get drunk, into a fist fight, and laid!

Well 1 out of 4...

Orden Ogan's debut album (or DEMO, a they call it themselves, on their history boxset) 'Testimonium A.D.'. I am impressed!!! Even though I own all the band's albums, this blew my mind. Fantastic stuff!!!

Folk rock/power metal and whatever magically alloyed together.I think it also has some Big Country and Gary Moore stylings (in form of melodies) in it...

Decapitated - Deathvaluation

I know later Decapitated is spat upon by many but this cut rocks as does the entire record.

Slice the Cake- Westward Bound Part II- The Pilgrim's Process From Odyssey to the West

It's a fucking tragedy this album never got a proper release. All the band members w/o the lead composer's permission ended up releasing the album online, which led to their ultimate disbandment. The whole thing is fucking incredible. Probably one of the most well laid out albums of progressive music I've ever heard. Shit rips while simultaneously having incredible beauty. Highly highly recommend!

Great band on ashes of Dub Buk. If you like ukrainian approach to bm, then get it right now. Intense, melodic, beautiful.

Brass Tactics demo

Pretty cool tech thrash ... with a pretty great bass player who solos too! Apparently they formed a band after this called The Wake that is impossible to find.

Shame in You - AiC

The harmonizing that Staley and Cantrell do together towards the end still gets me.

This is some really good BM.
I remember I bought the album because of the artwork. Snow covered mountainside that could be anywhere here in Norway.

Solitude Aeturnus - Seeds of the Desolate

I'm still convinced no one matches Robert Lowe's EPIC vocal delivery on the early Solitude Aeturnus stuff - this man sounds like a fucking prophet.

It's a very ambitious album, but to me it suffers a bit from bad production (not lo-fi necro black metal sound, but legit shitty sound) and sometimes messy and unfocused songwriting. I still dream of the day where they do "Nechrist - The Dance of Swords" with the same production as Voice of Steel...

Liturgy - Follow II

You know what, I've shit on this band in the past, but this album isn't the worst thing ever. I like how they managed to create a mirror version of what black metal is "supposed to be" while still being black metal, but reassembled. I'd like an instrumental version though. Those vocals start grating on me after a while and stop me from spinning it more than once in a blue moon.

Follow I and II are actually pretty good tracks, set aside the vocals and most of the weird midi stuff. It had potential, but was ruined by the overindulgent need to be "special."

damn I love this album
