It really is .... which makes me wonder why it is only just now on my radar???? Why didn't this album get more attention? And what other riff fests have fallen through the crack out there?

I'm even more mixed up than that .... I meant "Persecution Mania"!

I don't keep up with modern thrash as I should, but the last album that sorta blew me away was Eliminator's Breaking the Wheel. Not quite as riff-heavy as Torture Squad but certainly moreso than a certain Dallas band that's all the rage these days.

Yeah, I really like that album too but it was pretty well publicized at the time.

Yo. Never been much of a fan of thrash, mostly due to garagey production, harsh vocals and that it often sounds off beat. However i recently heard the album "Sum of Forces" by "Tantara" and i loved it. Other bands i like is "Them", Exmortus, some Metallica and Iced Earth.

So anybody got some recommendations of similar bands? Melodic, clear production and good vocals? Thank youu

Check out Heathen's 'Victim of Deception' if you like polished thrash in the vein of Metallica.

Try these out. Some are just a little bit thrash, some aren't my favorites by these bands either, but I've based the recs on production and vocals etc. Fully agree with the Heathen rec, wicked album.

Agent Steel "Unstoppable Force"
Forbidden "Twisted Into Form"
Annihilator "Never, Neverland"
Flotsam & Jetsam "No Place For Disgrace"
Metal Church "S/T"
Death Angel "Act III"
Hexx "Under The Spell"
Anthrax "Persistence Of Time"
Dark Angel "Time Does Not Heal"
Laaz Rockit "Know Your Enemy"
Megadeth "Rust In Peace"
Sanctuary "Refuge Denied"
Overkill "Horrorscope"
Helstar "Nosferatu"

I recently picked up Formicide's demo compilation - it was surprisingly good! The bass playing in particular seems like a cut above. My only complaint was that the 3rd demo had really bad production, especially considering that the first two sounded great. Anyone else like these guys? Don't think they're quite at Morbid Scream's level as far as demo bands go, but still very good!

Just wanted to let everyone know that my band's CD "Overlord" has been remastered (and greatly improved!) and is available to stream in full at http://templeofblood.bandcamp.com

I think it would appeal to fans of Megadeth, Annihilator, Judas Priest, Testament, Forbidden, Dark Angel, etc. Speedy melodic thrash with some USPM thrown into the mix.

Is there a remastered CD version of "Overlord"? Or in any future plans? I dislike streams and I prefer to have my metal on physical media.

Yes! I have plans to get this done. If some labels won't bite I'll put this out myself. It's too good not to press on CD IMHO, as I feel it is our strongest music released to date.

I also prefer physical media, but this gives folks a taste of what an improvement was made with the remastering.

Hey everyone. Not looking for recs atm but I thought I'd drop in to share some impressions on an album I'm really enjoying. Currently spinning "Lost" by Bezerker. Very cool sounding prog-thrash, which riff-wise, reminds me a lot of Paradox's Heresy and Acid Storm's Biotronic Genesis. Vocalist is a dead-ringer for John Arch too.

Dope shit! They definitely don't make 'em like this anymore.

Yeah man, I reviewed Bezerker on my rateyourmusic.com list. You might also like Paralysis if you like that album.

I'm looking for thrash or thrash/death similar to Kreator's Violent Revolution. Can someone suggest something? It is one of my all time favourite albums. Especially songs such as Ghetto War, Violent Revolution, All of The Same Blood etc.

Anyone know any super violent speedy thrash in the vein of Razor? Mostly along the lines of Violent Restitution. Down tuned (they're in c# here) raw, punkish sound.

I've been into Thrash instrumentals lately. Can you recommend any that are similar to these:

Violator - Ordered to Thrash

Lokust - Guiltless

Torture Squad - Patria Livre (this has a 10 second vocal in the middle of the song but I still consider it an instrumental)

I just saw them in Osaka last month when I went there for True Thrash Fest (Iron Angel headlining). They're fucking fantastic live. Picked up a CD, which only costed $25. The shirt though was $10.

Fellow Canucks Chainbreaker is a good band if you want that kind of sound. They released an album from Hells Headbangers just recently. Also try out Nuke, Blackrat, and BAT.

Nuke from Detroit is not down tuned but fit all of the other descriptions you have. Sekkusu and Reaper also from Detroit have raw punkish sounds in their thrash metal. Basically just check thrash metal from last decade in Michigan.

I'm looking for thrash metal bands that use a lot of galloping riffs, though not only galloping riffs in their songs like early Iced Earth and the few thrashy songs they have released in more recent years.

Here's a thrash metal song with a gallop part towards the end.

That album, Breaking the Silence, has some other parts with galloping riffs as well.

Wanted to pop in and say the new Nocturnal Breed album is great.

Title track and Bless the Whore are the top two tracks.

If you're a fan of dirty Venom-inspired thrash, Devil Master's Satan Spits on Children of Light has been a revelation. It's certainly a bit more on the punk side of thrash, but it's the catchiest "proto"-thrash I've heard since Midnight. Feels like a modern take on Show No Mercy and Black Metal (the album). Very unique sound and so catchy I've had no choice but to play it on repeat if for after I first heard it.

For something a bit more traditional Condor's Unstoppable Power has been a banger too.

Some lesser known but fun, exuberant thrash metal.

Atrophy - Socialized Hate
Deathwish - Demon Preacher
Detente - Recognize No Authority
Exorcist - Nightmare Theatre
Wargasm - Why Play Around

I'm looking for thrash metal that has been released in 2019 that is comparable to albums like these stylistically:
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
Demolition Hammer - Tortured Existence
Morbid Saint - Spectrum of Death

As a massive fan of that style of thrash metal, what is the closest album to albums like that you can suggest that has been released in 2019?

I doubt you'll find any, but HATING EVIL from a few years ago would be my go-to for a modern take on that style.
