Mercyful Fate - Evil

Classic... best stuff out there.

Yes! "Melissa" and "Don't Break The Oath" are the monuments of heavy metal. Riffs, riffs and even more great riffs.

NP:
Darkthrone "Total Death"

A bit underrated but still classic DT album that i really enjoy.

Tomb Mold - Infinite Resurrection.

Digging the riffs and songs here. I think I'll pick this one up. Nice lead work as well.

Light of the Morning Star - An Empty Hearse

Fantastic gothic metal (not the shitty kind which plagues this sub-genre), that is both heavy and languidly morbid. Fucking stellar.

Donny Olkkola - Halibazuippa

What to say? Guess nobody knows Donny here. Finnish high quality humorous schlager. I've watched the video at least five times today.

A Hero For the World - Circle of Life (Heavy Metal Version)

Well this certainly, uhh...exists. Why does the vocalist sound like he has a permanent head cold?

What's a good album to start with?

Vampire Weekend - Rich Man

Can't quit this one these days. Massive and cathartic.

Pat Benatar - Hell is for Children

I noticed this sounds like Metallica's ballads. Soft verses -> heavy chorus -> soft verses -> heavy chorus -> heavy speed metal outro with solo

Killer riffs and epic.

Katatonia - Gateways of Bereavement

Dance of December Souls may be one of the closest things to a near perfect album. And I'm not even the biggest Katatonia fan, but this album is so goddamn good.

Some really cool synth/dream pop!
Like a mix between Rose Mcdowall and Twin Peaks at times.

"Aegis" is basically The Sisters of Mercy gone metal and I'm here for it.

Great album. Long ago I thought Velvet Darkness They Fear was their best, but I might be tempted to say Aegis now as my tastes have changed.

Barathrum - Hailstorm

Now this is what I would call a cavernous sound. Deep from the Depths. Eerie-Infernal-Perkele combo might have a new companion. Yeah, never really listened this.

Metallica - The View

Every new 0% review gives me fuel. It is what it is though. It makes more sense now that I know more about Velvet Underground and all.

I don't give a flying fuck what anyone says, the last two songs on Lulu make the entire thing worth it for me. Junior Dad does get SOME love, but Dragon might be even better.

I don't think it's really a "bad" album per se, so much as just a confusing one. It's like mixing two things that are so different that it stretches believability, like two flavors of food that don't go together at all. They did the best they could though. Some of this is legit disturbing and I admire them for doing something so far outside the box as big and famous as they were. It's a weird frankenstein of an album, over-long to be sure, but there's a fascination to it.

Samael - Earth Country

I love how excessively heavy and loud this album is. Not unnecessarily so, though. A more measured approach would have ruined it. I just imagine the producer sitting in the studio with Samael leaning over their shoulder yelling LOUDER! LOUDER!

Suffocation - The Violation

Assuming ...Of the Dark Light is Frank's last album with the band, I think it's a strong one to go out on.

I find ''Tomb of Insomnia'' to be a bit confusing, but otherwise the album's pretty much perfect, yes!

NP: Doomentor - Thundergod Summoning

Blackened occult metal that sounds more like a mid 90's effort than something out of 2018. Not sure about the quality so far, but it's definitely interesting stuff at least.

Panopticon - Kentucky

Been meaning to find a good time to play this again. Not the kind of music you can just throw on as background music in the car. Searing epics. A shitload of passion.
