Edenbridge - Live and Let Go
Yup, this sounds like Edenbridge alright. Straight forward, catchy power metal. New album should be fun.

Really hope they do something soon. It's been since 2015. I don't follow any of their socials, maybe they have announced something already?

They're recording something new right now, if I remember correctly. "Sovran" was fantastic, one of their best so far, so I'm pretty damn stoked.

This is really interesting. I have no clue what side of things this falls on, or if this is even metal, but it's intriguing me for sure! It's super gorgeous.

Their earlier material, until Ecailles de lune, is even better

Blodsrit "Helveteshymner"

Really good black metal. Actually one of the best released in XXIth century.

Sigh - At My Funeral

Sigh is generally a little too out-there for me most times. But I really love this early batch of cooker-y.

@Amelanchier and deopisi

Oh worm? Guess I'm gonna have to give Alcest's discography a spin then! I greatly enjoyed Kodama. The harsh vocals on it weren't very good, but other than that it was magnificent. Still don't know what it's supposed to be whether it's black metal or in that neighborhood or not even metal, but it's g o o d

Thin Lizzy - Holy War (live Regal Theatre)

I've watched this one so many times. What a performance. The lyrics in this song really cling to me. Just beautiful.

Atlantean Kodex - Heresiarch

I had some periods where I didn't play this so much, but it's just like a delicacy... it's not just stuff you throw on in the background. When I can really pay attention this is some of the most thoughtful, well-constructed stuff out there.

Metallica - Fight Fire with Fire

One of Metallica's finest moments. Ride the Lightning might be up there with Powerslave for my favourite heavy metal guitar sound/production of all time.

The riffs are so crushing, the solo is amazing. The downpicking after Lars' drum 'solo' still gets me fired the fuck up.

My Dying Bride - The Cry Of Mankind

Lovely soundtrack at midnight.

Edguy - Ravenblack

Still so fucking good - tighter and hookier even as they get older. I wonder if we'll ever even get another real album. If they're not inspired, though, guess it's for the best that we haven't gotten much.

Vader- Emptiness
Man this whole EP is killer, since Welcome to the Morbid Reich Peter's vocals have gotten even more sinister. Incredible as always.

Steven Wilson - "Ancestral" from _Hand.Cannot.Erase_

Incredible song from the only Steven Wilson solo album that could possibly vie with Porcupine Tree's peak. It has great dynamics, emotional resonance, and razor-sharp metal riffs toward the end.

A bicycle
A garden wall
A mother's call
A love is born
And after all, the sleep that falls on me

Light of the Morning Star - Oleander Halo

One of my best purchases for this year. Nocta is one hell of an impressive album, full of moody tones, and quite a heavy laden atmosphere.

Freedom Call - M.E.T.A.L.

Gotta give them credit for not evolving a day past their halcyon days in 2003 or so. This sounds like it could've been released back then.

Horrendous - Golgothan Tongues

It's amazing how good these lead guitar parts are. A lot of bands just shred but these guys write slow, mournful, beautiful leads to break up the choppy riffs and complex writing. That old saying about solos being songs within songs is apt.

If only the A side was filled with these kind of songs... Well, they made it with their next album.

Tool - 7empest

I'm not a huge Tool fan by any stretch of the imagination, so I'm not the best judge, but yeah, this entire record just sounds like outtakes from their last couple.

Cemetery of Scream - The Shadow of Notre Dame Cathedral

I love discovering these 90's gems. The first song gets pretty close to Tiamat's The Astral Sleep sound. :)

Tarot - Crows Fly Black

Marco's silky yet coarse tones and this monster guitar tone are fucking bliss, really.

Saint Vitus - Hour Glass

Nothing ground breaking, just more rock solid doom. I'm a Wino fan but Reagers does a great job here.

Lacrimas Profundere - Like Screams In Empty Halls

for the last like, 4 records, LP has only had one or two good memorable songs on each release. This is the one from the new one.

All-time progressive metal classic. Hadn't listened to it in a few years after it had been in heavy rotation for several before.

I haven't paid attention to Lacrimas Profundere in over a decade. Back then the conventional wisdom, with which I agreed, was that _Memorandum_ was their masterpiece, _Burning: A Wish_ was worthy, but after that they stagnated. Is that still a fair assessment?

In my opinion, Yeah, basically. Save for a few individual tracks here and there. Burning: A Wish is actually my favourite one. Ave End is a good gothic rock record, and after that it's pretty downhill.

Bathory - Total Destruction

There is a huge thunderstorm here, and the intro track before this and the outdoors were battling for volume.
