Thumbman and Gas are both on pace to absolutely shatter D's record!

I don't doubt that he'd be proud, and if he was still here today, would be competing with both of them for that honour.

Hahaha well that’s an unexpected advantage of looking for details in a release. After I wrote it, I did think it was weird, because I remember you saying you had a dog. But no way did I associate that noise with barking or other canine noises.

Thanks, fam! Yesterday really threw me off my rhythm because I had a job interview during the middle of the day, but I'm hoping to pick up the pace again today.

This is shaping up to be a far more active challenge, I'm probably not going to catch Gas and Thumb at this point, but I'm going to make them work for 1st and 2nd place. :P

Nice Djevel review! That album totally rips, especially the title track and "Salmesang og knokkelklang". Was just going to give their new album a listen to decide if it's in my top 10 this year. Would love to see someone review the Imha Tarikat album or one of the many by Thromos that has never gotten a single review.

I’m really impressed with how many Thumbman’s been churning out, and I hope we’re going to see another ton. Some of the albums we both hit have provided an interesting alternate perspective, particularly the differing views on Thou’s latest album. I don’t think I’m able to keep up with that kind of pace though, so I’ll have to see what happens at the weekend.

Excited to see so many people contributing as well!

I think that Thumbman has this one pretty much in the bag in terms of individual output. I have a whole mess of EPs I plan on hitting in the next couple of days that may up my numbers a bit, but I'm pretty much at peace with placing 3rd this time around, though I hope I can at least top the 50 that I did several challenges back.

I'm hopeful that the cumulative output of all these new participants will help drive the total number of reviews above the previous record. We'll see what happens over the next few days.

I don't know if we will crack the old 609 total virgins record. Today, and the next three days, we'd have to hit over 90 virgins on average each day. But if we stay on track, we could definitely end up in the 500+ range. That would be very impressive.

Here's to hoping! This week has been frankly exhausting, so it would be nice to see a happy ending.

You guys can fight for the throne as much as you want. I'll just hang out, trying to do a little more than one a day. Every review counts, I suppose ;)

I would like to try writing some reviews again, but I always end up deleting them when I read them months later. My punctuation and technical musical knowledge isn't the greatest, but I thought I wrote some pretty good reviews until I decided to delete all but 1 of them. Also my only free time to write them would be when slacking off at work, but there's tons of virgin albums and entire bands I would love to review.

Hey Thumbman, are you ok my lad? You know where to find me if you want to talk.

I'm sad that I can't really contribute to the challenge, there's so many things I want to review too :(

The short answer is no, but at least I'll be taking a break tonight to drink with Derigin. Very good to see my him and Mutantclannfear participating, and Rapethedead is killing it (someone who I wish would review more frequently). Gasmask is of course doing a great job, as is to be expected in a challenge at this point.

Was it really a typo, or was it a reference to the fact that Crowbar has been comprised of a revolving cast of fat dudes throughout their history

So as of this morning, Thumbman has surpassed the record 100 reviews in a single challenge set by Diamhea in December 2016. Gasmask looks like he's close behind at also cracking the 100 mark.

That's got to be applauded, to reach 100 reviews with practically a whole day left. I think Diamhea would be pleased to know his record was broken with a tremendous effort, and by a regular that he knew too.

I've set myself 100 as a goal too, but I've still got to sleep and get to work in the morning, so it's not certain. It's nearly midnight here now.

Join date 2005 almost fits the established "once every 17 years" pattern.

Anyway thanks a thousand times for the reviews gas. I still don't know what the hell you did wrong with "Stargazer", that's by far the best of all Alpha Drone songs and I could listen to it a million times. The interplay between the two vocal lines, the repeating bass, the chaotic guitar improvisation, everything just came together in a perfect storm of inspiration I could never repeat.

Glad you kind of dug that Blackevil album, RTD. They’re one of the more diverse and riffier specimens of the style. That being said, I can never shake the Sabbat-isms, especially with the vocals.

No trouble, it’s a lot of fun to think about that stuff. Maybe I was listening to ‘Stargazer’ with the wrong ear or something, I’ll make sure to give it another spin in a calm moment. I might review the debut soon too, but only if you promise to finish the new album!

Well you can read my one single contribution to this challenge to see what my music is aiming for, I was actually inspired to write it based on reading your reviews, just to say this is my ideal of music. Which would be awesome actually if my one single review for this challenge puts it over some threshold to hopefully come close to that 600+ record we once did many years ago.

Reverend Kriss Hades? I read it and am definitely interested in listening to his stuff, but kind of wanted to know more about the content than so much about the feel of the record. I'm a content guy really, I don't have feelings.

It looks like Gasmask is the second one to hit 100 this challenge. Will he go for more?

EDIT: And I'm now done with 13 reviews. A personal best for the challenge. :)

And thus ends one of the more exciting challenges of our times.
Two fellas got over 100 reviews and beat Diamhea's record.
What a way to end the decade!

I'll have the final tally up first thing in the morning (about 9 hours from now).
