King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Fishing for Fishies

Groovy and bright. Pleasant way to begin a Saturday.

Ceremonial Castings - Into the Black Forest of Witchery

Great melodic/symphonic BM.
Nice use of synths, some good old Cradle of Filth feeling at times.

Mercyful Fate - Devil Eyes

Some disco feeling to this one!
Ha, love it!
Vocals are insane.

Darkthrone - Atomic Coming

Mostly a boring song on a mostly boring album, but that thrashy riff that first appears around 2:05 is quite delicious to my ears. It's almost like the "chorus riff" from Under a Funeral Moon, and I wish they did not have vocals when it played.

Love it!
Such a cool W.A.S.P. ish sound, but on acid, I guess!

Tad Morose - Guest of Inquisition

The riffs themselves don't blow me exactly away, but I dig the theatrical mood on this track; the keys play an important role and Urban Breed sounds incredible here.

Peordh - I Freely Roam

A lot of Drudkh feeling in the first half of the song, and then it sounds sort of like carnival music.
Awesome.

Edguy - Tinnitus Sanctus

Holds up... not a wasted second. Just ass-kicking tunes and a shitload of heart and soul.

Melechesh - Sphynx

This is such an awesome album. A blast of sand-caked, Pharaonic evil. Just kinetic and unrelenting.

Mortiis - Ånden som gjorde opprør part 3

I just love the part after the spoken words end. You get this rising synth melody, but it quickly fades away and is replaced by a similar melody, but this time done with a folky melody instead with crashing waves and wind effects in the background. "I see a sad world. I see a dark horizon..."

Lacuna Coil - Comalies

This release takes an entirely deeper meaning when you read the lyrics.

Sanhedrin - Wind on the Storm

This is some killer shit. Just hammering, no-fucks-given riff work. This and Mirror were some great releases by newer bands this year.

Melechesh - The Epigenesis

I forgot how fucking great this album was. Such evocative songwriting. Epic and colorful.

Weird how I could never get into this album before. It surely aint Nosferatu, but it's still pretty damn solid.

Thy Sinister Bloom - Thy Temperate Veil/A Vanity Lost

Fantastic psychedelic doom from the early 90s. Calls to mind crumbling, moss-eaten gravestones on a mushroom trip.

Cattle Decapitation - A Living, Breathing Piece of Defecating Meat

It's excessive as fuck and has all the cornerstones of that tech death style, but they're very good at what they do. It's intense and just has this sense of fun to it in a weird way.

My band is going to soon attempt to play the title track as a 3 piece. (!)

Black Sabbath - Ancient Warrior

I don't think I've heard this one in like a decade. Sounds cool. More solid power metal with Tony Martin's inimitable voice. Iommi is a killer.

Such a shame this riff-heavy early prog/power metal never became big.

Absolutely. Upon Deaf Ears is a GREAT album in my book.

Their next album, after losing both guitarists, didn't do anything for me personally.

I like this album better than before. Still my favorite Coroner album is Punishment For Decadence but MV takes a second place tied with No More Color. Brilliant solos by the way.

MV had to grow on me, and although I prefer NMC for its consistency I think MV has the most brilliant, unorthodox, and creative moments of Coroner's career.

I did not but I like what I am hearing. I like the first one non-remastered and raw but the second one did not have the best production.

As for Vio-Lence I really hope for something that is a cross between the first and second albums.

Godsmack- Awake

I use to absolutely abhor this band, but geezus this band has grown on me a lot. Sully just has a really charismatic way of singing, it totally captivates me. Probably my favorite hard rock vocalist as of now.

Yeah, we spent a ton of money on it but dropped the ball on the mastering. I think it sounds SO much better now and it has a new lease on life now at least to my ears.

That would be cool. My big thing is that I just want it to have more of an old school approach and don't tune the guitars too low.

I get that. Mastering seems to be a constant issue among bands - both old and new. I am not such a purist but I remember disliking the old version of "Overlord". It did not sound punchy at all. I even preferred the sound of the first album!

As for Vio-Lence - they can even throw in some atmospheric moments from the third album. I would not mind that. What I want is a pissed off and energetic thrash record with Sean's vocals.

Toxic Holocaust - Primal Future: 2019

Love the album to bits. Joel Grind can do no wrong in my eyes.
