Squid Carcass: I have listened to their album sveral times and only the songs Nr. 2,3, 4, 7 and 8 are based on death metal riffs. The rest of the album iis noisecore with punk bits in the style of Anal Cunt/Sore Throat plus some spoken word intros. That makes barely a half- metal album and not a predominatly metal one imo, so I was very surprised to see the band added:

Why was the italian band All Little Lies accepted?
First of all, it isn't power metal, not even close. Secondly, it really sounds like the Italian band -eExilia mixed withThe Gathering stuff, which¨they have started to play, when they stopped being a metal band and also a bit of evanescence as wll. Imo nothing predomiantly metal or ral metal riff based.

I was coming here to bring this up as well.

Deleted Inner Noise (Croatia). Have requested proof of legitimacy of Lucid Incubus Records Bandcamp uploads, plus this band's only recording came 3 years after they had broken up, and included the vocalist and 2 session musicians - so whether that was approved by the rest of the band and considered to be part of their official discography should also be looked into before they're added to the site. Have asked submitter to gather further proof in regards to whether Bandcamp uploads are being made with permission of the bands.

Restored after getting evidence from the label owner that the uploads are band-sanctioned.

Deleted Infrared (Dallas, Texas). I was able to track down more information about the Arlington, Texas band from someone who is selling the tape on Discogs:
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/In ... 3540338751

It turns out that they are the pre-Transcendence band that the other page was about.

Caught up with open posts and deleted:

Wings of Scarlet
Shoot the Hostage
Light Is the Language
TwentyInchBurial
Burnt by the Sun
Sweet Crystal
Sengaia
Rock Boulevard
Space Ritual
Hungarica
Yeah Right (couldn't find anything from Freak, but I doubt it's much different, will be looking for it regardless)
Hospital the Musical
All Little Lies
86 Proof

I still need to properly check Croatan.

Embraced by Hatred will stay. Metal-based metalcore, at least the first album, although I will remove the dm part from the genre.

I'm unsure about Broncco. Based on that album, possibly acceptable hm/hr. What about those collaboration thingies? Any samples?

Politely bumping these.

I talked to another mod and we'll keep Broncco/B'rock based on that full-length.

Steel Owl: hm, I'm hearing plenty of heavy metal?

Atomega: Yeah, I agree. Deleted.

Atlanta: Deleted.

Croatan: The earlier discography is definitely not metal. Grungy rock/crust/punk, and at the risk of me perhaps starting to hear things that aren't there, sometimes bordering on gothic/deathrock even? A hodgepodge of rock and punk anyway. The last two albums are probably where the current genre tag on MA came from, it's "stenchcore"-type crust with apocalyptic doomy and faux-thrashy tendencies, in other words pretty metallic sometimes. It gives me pause, but another moderator is more on no, so all things considered not really making the cut. Deleted.

Witcher, I've asked another mod for an assist with those two bands.

electric Eels (Usa) - Mostly hard rock. I don't think the material on their album comes close to heavy metal, except for the song "Excalibur". Good music, just not all that metal.

Hi,

I've never used this thread before, but I thought this would be worth taking a look at again. I stumbled across this metalcore band on here called Disciples of Verity, who only have one album, and it didn't sound predominately metal to me. Lots of chugging and what I would consider alt-rock/nu type stuff going on as well. There are definitely metal moments/songs, but the album as a whole didn't sound like the kind of stuff I usually hear on here. Maybe it was deemed borderline but still acceptable? Obviously, I could be completely wrong, but I thought it was worth bringing up.

Thanks for taking care of Atomega.

Re: Steel Owl. Having relistened to this album, I feel this album barely qualifies for inclusion by a very fine margin of music. The only true Metal songs are tracks 1, 6, 7, 9 and 10. Everything else is Glam/Hard Rock ballads. A real case of 50/50 that could go either way.

"Mặt trời đến" is a slow Heavy Metal track.

"Crying Over You" (6:08) sounds like a typical '80s Hard Rock ballad in the vein of Guns n' Roses or LA Guns. "Hãy nhìn xuống chân" (10:00) is also in the same vein with even more Glam influences, although it gets a bit heavier at the end.

"Dreams" (15:20) has these weird Funk Rock influences blended with Hard Rock riffs. There is some metallic soloing at the end, though.

"Sail Away" (18:50) follows the same formula as tracks 2 and 3, although there are considerably more Metal riffs here and there than the other tracks. Call it 40/60 maybe?

"Phiên khúc mua đồng" (24:15) is a Heavy Metal ballad, but the Glam/Hard Rock elements are very prevalent. For the sake of argument, we'll call it 50/50.

"Hard to Get, Hard to Forget" (28:40) is definitely a Metal song with only minor Glam/Hard Rock influences. Certainly more metallic than anything that preceded it save track 1.

"Don't Give Up" (33:35) is yet another Glam/Hard Rock ballad driven by piano and acoustic guitars with Hard Rock soloing/riffage serving an auxiliary role. No Metal at all.

"Cúi xuống" (38:00) starts off similar, but then goes full pedal to the Metal two minutes in. That moment is much more Metal than anything that preceded it, but it only accounts for 40% of the song.

The instrumental track (41:22) is pure Heavy Metal.

This is one of those cases where the Glam/Hard Rock elements are so heavily prevalent that the Metal loses its presence through much of the album. That said, I would now consider it Metal, but again, by a very fine margin.

The first Electric Eels album is hard rock, but the second album that they recorded, "II", that wasn't released until 2010 is heavy metal. http://www.retrospectrecords.com/produc ... ls_II.html

Deleted Red Sky (Ita). I added it yesterday because it newly showed up on another website, but another user had posted about it here prior to that in the appeals forum (which I was unaware of). Opening it up for this user to add the band.

Sacrilege (US) - should be merged with Sacrilege B.C. since it is a rather insignificant name change.

Split beaver- I know, that the band often gets lumped together with the NWOBHM movement, but their debut album is almost fully in bblbluesy hard rock/biker rock style, except for the song HOunds Of Hell, which has real NwOBHM sound and and vbecause it was featured on an early single , it is most perblbly the reason why the band is cirtd together with NWOBHM bands. It is the same case as with bands like Spider, Dumpy'sRusty NNuts or Panza diDivision, which were also often considerd to be a part of the NWoBHM scen, despite paying hard rock or boogie rock.

Just checked out some of the bands suggested for deletion to have a second opinion.
- Agree that these bands should definitely be deleted: Bulldoggs, BraveHeart, DD Rand, Bad Medicine, Split Beaver, Atomic Angel, Harlow, Disciples of Verity.
- Steel Owl I'd probably vote to delete but it's not as obvious as the bands listed above.
- Lynzee and Electric Eels seem okay to me.
