Working on some new material and so far, mixing loud synth sections (like trance-esque pads) with rhythm/lead sections and blasts is proving quite the challenge. I don't need a final mix, my producer will handle that, I just need something good to send to my vocalist then send to the guy.

Any tips on getting a nice, clear sound? It's Atmospheric/Post Black stuff with a lot of layers of edm inspired synths. Everything I do however ends up making the whole thing sound like 2 different songs at once.

You should probably make sure you haven't forgotten to allocate specific frequency ranges to your different instruments, outside of which you take the EQ down a few dB on respective tracks.
