The new Iladruni is well worth a listen if you're into Hellenic or pagan black metal:

Deathswarm - Forward into Oblivion.

Swedish death metal released today that takes a lot of influence from the moody Gorement. Loving it!

On it, thanks for the reminder.

Their first one is really good. No one cared when it came out and I think they are a really underrated band.
Hopefully people will pay a bit more attention this time around.

This one is quite nice. Several are also members of Sarcasm, so they have some excellent melodic sensibilities that aren't overdone, with a lot of variety and especially good drumming. "The Eating Blood" is a notable standout with the fadeout at the end into classical guitar and piano.

For some reason I don't love this. I can't say it's bad but it hasn't grabbed me. I don't see myself coming back to it, not nearly as noisy/dissonant as I was expecting.

Mānbryne - Heilsweg: O udręce ciała i tułaczce duszy

https://manbryne.bandcamp.com/releases

BM from Poland.

To quote from the review on AngryMetalGuy:
"At its best, black metal is furious, cavernous, melodic, melancholic, and complex. Mānbryne’s debut is all of the above, and more."

If you're looking for dissonant death metal, I'd suggest you give the new Crypts of Despair album a go.

Helslave - From the Sulphur Depths

I have been really anticipating this release ever since I sampled the first song months ago. Crushing Death Metal from Italy with Dan Swanö doing the mix/mastering. If you're into Death Metal that absolutely suffocates you with riffs, solos, and density, this is for you. Loving the vocals as well, Diego Laino is a real talent here using a high speed cadence you don't often hear with deep vocals.

I ran across a few singles for this a couple weeks ago and enjoyed them, and the whole album does hold up. Generally I like a bit more nuance here and there like a few similar releases last year had, but for straight-ahead material this is quite solid. A touch of melodicism here and there like in the harmonies on "Desecration".

The new Tideless album sounds good. I like the contrasts between ethereal passages and chaotic, unexpected mayhem. I'm getting reminded of The Chasm, even if the approach to this kind of death metal is way different.

Helslave and Crypts of Despair are on my 'to listen to' list, so good to see them getting positive words here.

Just had Shadowspawn's The Biology of Disbelief on - solid old school style death metal with some good riffing.

Coronary finally got their full length out in February. Don't feel like it quite hit all the expectations set by the awesome split with Traveler, but still a solid slab of early 80's/Accept leaning heavy metal nonetheless.

I received the latest full-length from Cadaveric Incubator, Nightmare Necropolis, today. Have given it a couple listens and am really into it thus far. No frills deathgrind with some eerie atmosphere.

Agreed, this is absolutely savage. Too many of the "similar" bands to Angelcorpse lack the same speed and intensity. Even the latest Perdition Temple didn't quite do it for me (though their previous two were great). This, however, is terrific. Reminds me a bit of that Throne album that I think somebody posted earlier in this thread, though this is more predominantly Angelcorpse-influenced. Love it.

Also, in regard to the post above, glad to hear the new Cadaveric Incubator is worthwhile. I loved their debut, even though deathgrind isn't usually my thing. They have a knack for good songwriting.

The new Arion record is awesome. It's like they injected a huge dose of butt rock into their power metal sound

It won't be for everyone, but it's so insanely catchy.

I haven't had a chance to listen to it all the way through, but I am really liking the Tetrarch album that released today. It's nu-metal inspired (very Korn-y in places) but it doesn't feel derivative. I can already tell it's going on my personal best-of-2021 list.

Two other 2021 releases that I'm absolutely loving are Nine Treasures's "Awakening from Dukkha" and Manntra's "Monster Mind Consuming," although Manntra may not strictly be considered metal here.

Coffin Breath's The Tenebrous Mist is a cool new doom/death metal demo. I detect some Sumerian Cry-styled Tiamat influences, although this sounds a bit more massive and shit.

Gave this a listen at the weekend and had to see if someone mentioned it. Didn't realise it came out back in March, but yes, it's awesome.

I've heard a few albums in the post-black metal world lately that I've really loved, and each one was basically found by using very bizarre cover art. Already knew

Genune - Inert & Unerring
Spoiler: show

Violet Cold - Empire Of Love

Nature Morte - Messe Basse

All are very worth checking out if you like post-black/atmospheric black stuff.

Really digging this new Nordjevel EP, great Norwegian black metal. Nothing too inventive, just a great straightforward slab of black metal. Favorite song is definitely the third track.

Today two excellent albums are being released!

Dordeduh - Har

I received the fantastic artbook yesterday but had to wait for the leak to listen (no CD tray...).
I was not disappointed, this is an excellent album. Very different than their earlier output, but has a great atmosphere and 'Vraci de Nord' is so beautiful...

and Lugubrum- Bryune Kroon

Just been listening to this.
This is an amazing mix of old style Lugubrum with their more recent style.
Definitely one of their best albums.
